“Art thou the Sword Saint Alice’s master, the Grand Sword Saint Takumi?” “Huh, wait, I think you’ve got the wrong person?” After I was kicked out from my adventurer party, I lived out my retirement in the mountains. However, my disciple became the strongest human in the world without my knowledge, which started the rumor that her master could only be the ultimate strongest person, eclipsing humanity. Hence, I now occupied rank one on the adventurer’s rankings. An aspiring student, a dragon, a hero, and a demon lord all came flocking to me, completely misunderstanding everything. Please stop. I’m just a small fry, okay? This is not a story about an OP MC. It’s a comedy about a bunch of idiots who think I am.
Chapter 4
As a translator, I belong to the type that reads as they translate. I've only translated 4 chapters at this point, so I'll just be reviewing my initial impressions.
I found this novel when browsing through the rankings of the top comedy novels on syosetu. Com, and to my pleasant surprise, A Misunderstood Mentor won a writing competition and has two published novels.
I began translating the first chapter earlier this year as a teaser. I didn't think too much about it at that point, but as the novel itself looked quite interesting, I did a second chapter. Alright, the second chapter wasn't that bad either, but the novel itself wasn't good enough to make my lazy bum quit my addiction of League of Legends for the few hours it'd take me to do a chapter.
And so I left it alone for three months. Until I was looking for a novel to translate, of course, after I suffered a loss because of my monkey teammates. I did a third chapter of it and I thought it was a lot better than I remembered. "Why not?" I asked myself. I translated the fourth chapter, and f*ck. I almost couldn't translate certain parts because I was laughing so hard.
I'd recommend reading the novel even with the low number of chapters currently translated, just because it's so funny. If you're looking for a quick laugh, this novel is for you!

CH 13
It's overall fine, but there's a specific reason for not reading it anymore that a quote from chapter 14 should make clear.
Spoiler
(on finding the dragon was able to transform into a human appearance with clothes on) Thank goodness. Her dragon form may be fearsome, but her naked is even more so.
If you don't mind a protagonist like that, and you don't mind getting what the title and description promise, it should be enjoyable.

CH 13
(Sep 27, 2021)
As of now few chapters are translated, but from what I've read it has a pretty entertaining premise. MC is weak, but through various misunderstandings becomes a sought out legendary figure. Some mangas and light novels have had similar premises about a weak MC being misunderstood as powerful, but usually, they'd get a power boost later on or reveal their true powers in critical times. Here's to hoping he uses his wits, experience, and sometimes, extreme luck to get out of sticky situations rather than gain some power boost or be hiding some cheat-like ability.

CH 41
For the first few chapters it's about funny misunderstandings. Then it's more about how much all the female characters love MC. With so many love struck girls now even if you enjoy harems it's a drag to read.
I think these types of stories should be comedy focused with maybe a few hints of romance here or there at most. That said there are funny moments and neat ideas (Takumi points, the ways MC wins fights, etc) and the non-harem parts are engaging so I'm not counting the series out yet.
