Previously titled "The Battles of the Old Men Will Begin Now!" Barad, a merchant and original member of hero Veruct's party, left after a defeat against a Demon Lord's executive. Despite this, he continued to support the hero with funds, supplies, and equipment, sending him to the final battle against the Demon Lord. However, the hero never returned, supposedly killed by a curse the Demon Lord cast despite defeating him. Doubtful, Barad travels to the Demon Lord's castle, the hero's last location, and discovers that the hero was murdered by the final members of the hero's party, including Prince Meishin of the great nation of Areista, and that the slain hero may be resurrected. To save the hero, Barad heads to Areista's capital, where the hero's body was taken. This former metalworker is revealed to be a remarkable individual. Using the Martial Charter Company, an armed economic organization he created to support heroes, Barad plots to infiltrate the hero's state funeral and then encircle the 'traitorous' Areista. However, the 'evil' that survived thanks to the hero's death has also taken root in Areista, threatening to unleash a new calamity. Those connected to the hero gather in the corrupt capital, and the final battle begins—a fight to save the hero and end an era.
