Lydia, a runaway painter and town daughter, suddenly finds out one day that she was a duke’s daughter. Her father, who meets her for the first time, orders her to marry Brad, and for both of them to take over the duchy.
Unable to forgive her father for abandoning her mother and causing her unhappiness, Lydia rebels and aims to waste the house’s wealth away to bring about the downfall of the dukedom.
However, being a good-natured person at heart, her wasteful spending plans are half-hearted. It fails due to Brad’s sabotage, too competent a man, and, in fact, their assets actually start growing. Further, Lydia likes Brad’s face so much that she is easily pushed around. When she is caught designing tricks, she is lightly punished, and when she acts like a proper lady, she is generously rewarded. Either case, it’s all way too lenient!
The story of a female painter; a sudden noble lady, versus: a magnanimous young man… failing to fall into ruin.
