~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\n
Shortly after leaving Yukiya and her store. The three members of the Snow Girls began their photo shoots and interviews around the small corner shops in town.\n
“Hello everyone.”\n
Three girls in white kimonos smiled and greeted the camera with waving hands.\n
“We are at Hyousei Village’s own legendary Senbei maker Masunoya-san’s shop. Pardon the intrusion.”\n
After giving their greetings, they angled the microphone in their hand towards the elderly couple.\n
“. . .”\n
There was no reply from the couple.\n
“Hello, Ojii-chan.”\n
“Um, what is your name?”\n
Still there was no reply. This was \n
“Name. . ?”\n
“Oh, it’s been a while since such young children came to our store.”\n
The three idols gave confused looks amongst themselves. None of them knew how to handle the situation.\n
“O-Oh, is that so?”\n
The old couple smiled and laughed.\n
“Yes, that’s so.”\n
The cameraman signaled to redo the intro.\n
It ended up being retaken five times until settling on a passable take.\n
They refreshed themselves and introduced a new segment.\n
“This is the famous spicy hell senbei”\n
“Uwaa, i-it’s delicious.”\n
“Let’s. . .eat.”\n
The bright red rice cracker sprinkled with chili peppers.\n
“Uwaaa, spicy. . .”\n
A stabbing sensation met them as it touched their tongue.\n
“It’s spicy but delicious.”\n
“Yeah.”\n
“Ah, I can feel my b-body become . . .hot.”\n
They were barely holding their tears, but managed to give smiles instead.\n
The director pointed out that there were problems in the dialogue, and the camera wasn’t steady, so the shot was taken three more times.\n
Every time, they experienced the spicy hell from the crackers.\n
“Good job you three. We’ll start again in 20 minutes, so don’t wander off too far. Oh it’s also better to just leave your clothes as is.”\n
Finally they were able to take a break between shoots.\n
The staff’s attention immediately moved on to other matters.\n
“O-K.”\n
“Got it.”\n
“What should we do to kill time?”\n
During the breaks, the Snow Girls can usually be seen together.\n
It was a precious time for them. Having the chance to finally spend time with friends after working so hard.\n
No matter the hardships, the cooperation and friendliness from the three was a boon for those around them.\n
“Ah, geeze. I still can’t feel my tongue. . .”\n
Mutsumi mourned her numbed taste buds.\n
“Honestly, let’s go to a store somewhere and fix our mouths. Anybody want something sweet?”\n
The other two agreed. Their next job was to introduce traditional arts and crafts. It wasn’t food, so they wanted something to fill them up.\n
“Ah, alright. . . I wonder where a good shop is around here. . . Oh, when did this start?”\n
Everyone then noticed the snow on her shoulders and sleeves. The powdered snow scattered as they brushed it off.\n
The kimono they were wearing was pure white, the snow blended into it nicely.\n
The kimono was worn most of the time to fit the Yukinmusume idol appearance.\n
Wearing the clothing had a noticeable impairment to movement. And it made them stick out.\n
However it was their trademark. Nobody dared take it off outside, and they never complained about it during or outside of shoots. It was their pride as idols, and they harbored no shame.\n
The three friends continued their search around town. However they still couldn’t find any suitable stores. Despite being a tourist destination, if you leave the town square, it will little by little become a remote rural village.\n
“Isn’t Yukichi’s store nearby? Let’s go there.”\n
Mai suggested a change of plans. \n
“It’s quite far away. Let’s find something else. There has to be something around here. . .”\n
Mutusmi took out her smartphone and checked the map.\n
However,\n
“Ah, the battery is dead, this is bad.”\n
She cursed the black screen. It was now nothing more than a useless brick.\n
“I just want to get this job done.”\n
While slacking off during break time, more and more time passed by. When the time was getting closer to night the surroundings began to shift. The lights dimmed, as the snow got stronger.\n
“I’m hungry. Let’s go somewhere soon.”\n
“Yeah, but there seems to be nothing ahead. . .”\n
“Let’s head back.”\n
Before they knew it, they reached the outskirts of the village. Only a road leading to the mountains met them.\n
Deciding to head back they turned around, when suddenly a whirlwind broke out. Snow soared like a tornado.\n
“Hyaa!?”\n
The sudden spiteful snow dance had them all duck their head.\n
“W-What?”\n
Rough footsteps audible to the three brought them all to attention.\n
Listening closer, it was stepping out from deep snow.\n
Someone then appeared before them.\n
“W-What is that. . .”\n
“I-Is somebody there?”\n
They tried to look closely in front, and saw a particular figure.\n
“Oi, you. . .guys.”\n
The girl stood in the center of the torrenting snow. She was saying something.\n
Abruptly it became clearer to them.\n
She beckoned.\n
“Somebody? Is the break already over?”\n
Mai tilted her head.\n
“Shooting is resuming? Where is the producer?”\n
Mutsumi waved her hand to the other girl.\n
In response the cold wind blew harder.\n
“Y-Y-es?”\n
“W-W-ho?”\n
“This girl. . .Is the new member?”\n
The three became surprised when they saw the approaching figure.\n
It was a cute girl who seemed younger than them, walking closer with light steps.\n
“You guys are Yukinmusumes? What are you doing in this place?”\n
The girl’s cold words had a hint of a regional accent.\n
“. . .No way.”(嘘)\n
Stunning. The girl wearing a similar white kimono to them, though thin in its fabric, she stayed collected despite standing in the middle of a storm.\n
Hi it’s been awhile. Sounds like they met a mini boss. \n
<b>I need to make a note though, I may have made an error in my translation of this novel. I’ve could have mistranslated Yukiya(♀)(雪耶) name. It actually </b>could to be Setsuya. \n
The boy name is correctly translated into Yukiya(雪哉). So the boy is supposed to be Yukiya and the girl is supposed to be Setsuya. Although that sounds different, the Kanji used are quite similar, so it’s still a weird coincidence to people who knew them both. I used a website I usually use to find japanese names and found nothing for 雪耶 the female name. So I just assumed it was Yukiya, as 雪 is Yuki(Kun form) and 耶 is ya (On form) That was my problem, I mixed the On and Kun forms. The On form for 雪 is Setsu, I should have looked closer and be sure..\n
HOWEVER: Ok so here is the kicker. I rechecked the original chapter and it has this line. 「哉」「耶」の漢字一文字違いで読みは同じ. This translates to “they have different kanji but the reading is the same”. So the author may still meant for the reading to just be Yukiya. In the same chapter and later, her mom calls her “Yukiya-chan” in plain hiragana, and every other character just calls her Yuki-chan or Yukin in similar fashion. No Setsu-chan. So like, it may not be a real name, but it maybe used similarly.<b> Like they could know it’s </b>similar or more cute. Also later in the same chapter they say  ボクはその時、「ゆきや」という名前は男の子でも女の子でもどちらが産まれても良いように考えていたのだと単純に考えていた. Which means, “I then realized, Yukiya(ゆきや) would simply be used if I was either born male or female“\n
That being said, regardless, we are deep into the story that I’m unsure if I should change it now. It will likely lead to some confusion( and a lot of work revisiting every past chapter to change it). Also the characters that give her nicknames still use just Yuki, or Yukin. Just like earlier this chapter, the snow idols didn’t says Setsuya. \n
This was brought to my attention by Seanna Quah, so thank you very much for pointing out my possible mistake. \n
Also at the end she just says 嘘. Which means lie, this could be them saying liars, or her disbelief that it’s true. I’m not sure of the usage, so I just used the safest for the story translation.\n
Next chapter is probably next month. That is the rate the author writes, so until then. Unless I pick up a new novel or oneshot. \n
