As one of them stood and the other one tugged on his leg, a car drove into the parking lot.
Xie Zhuxing hurriedly dragged Wang Chao up, “Hurry, get up.”
Wang Chao was also embarassed, so he grasped the other man’s hand and pulled himself up.
That car drove near them, and the driver poked his head out. It was Zhao Zhengyi. Perhaps he guessed that they were fighting again, he pretended to act as if he didn’t know what was going on, but the awkwardness on his face betrayed him. “What are you two doing here?”
Xie Zhuxing replied calmly, “Nothing. You’re here to pick up your artist?”
Zhao Zhengyi laughed dryly as he dialed his phone, “Yep, yep, I’m not sure where he is.”
The ringtone sounded particularly loud in the empty parking lot.
The three turned their heads toward the voice – Yuan Rui, the newest artist represented by Zhao Zhengyi, emerged from the corner like a thief. Nobody knew how long he’s been in the parking lot; the corner was dim and Xie and Wang only paid attention to their argument, so no one noticed him.
He seemed uncomfortable overhearing their lovers’ quarrel. Without greeting them, he speed-walked over, clambered into the car, and slammed the door shut.
Zhao Zhengyi, “…Then we will head out first.”
He drove the car away.
Wang Chao, “…Fuck, if he brings this up once he goes home, then I will be exposed!”
Xie Zhuxing didn’t understand what he meant and thought he was afraid that Yuan Rui would gossip around. “I don’t think he’s that type of person.”
Wang Chao was surprised, “You know him?”
Xie Zhuxing said, “He’s here for class too. We are not in the same session, but I’ve seen him a couple of times. Xiao Zhao said he’s a decent person and not the type to stir up drama, so he probably won’t gossip around.”
But Wang Chao was still irritated, “I’m not afraid at all about him spreading any gossip. I’m afraid of him going home and telling Lao Zheng that I’m a bottom. Had I known this would happen I would never have lied and bragged that I was a top in front of Lao Zheng.”
Xie Zhuxing was surprised, “Wait, Yuan Rui and your friend Zheng…?”
“They are a couple.”
Xie Zhuxing was amused for a second. Wang Chao is a chatterbox, but his mouth is sealed for secrets. They spend every day together, and he could fill multiple trucks with the random things he would chatter about, but he’s never heard him say that Yuan Rui and his friend were an item.
Everyone has two sides to their personality, all depending on which angle you view them from.
Wang Chao recalled their business and spoke up, “Hey! Don’t pretend that nothing happened! We’re not done with that!”
Xie Zhuxing nudged him toward the car and said, “Can you learn from your mistakes? Are you afraid that others can’t hear us? We will argue when we get home!”
Wang Chao knew the moment he spoke that this was no longer a serious matter. He giddily entered the car from the passenger side, complaining as he fastened his seat belt, “Going to what home! Didn’t you suggest we break up? That’s my home! Why are you going there?”
Xie Zhuxing stepped on the gas, “Who suggested we break up? Wasn’t it you who brought it up?”
Wang Chao insisted, “I was only threatening you, did you take that seriously? Then when I said that I wasn’t flirting with your classmate, why didn’t you believe me?”
“…”
“You’re silent again! I’m so tired of you not speaking up!”
Xie Zhuxing turned the steering wheel to one side and said, “It’s not that I don’t trust you.”
Wang Chao glanced at him dubiously.
“…I don’t trust you, you fooled around so much in the past.”
Wang Chao snapped, “I knew it! Can you stop with this already? If it comes to trust issues, I should be the one to not trust you. Is there anything about my past that you didn’t know? It’s your past that I’m in the dark about! We don’t need to talk about anything else, let’s focus on that diamond ring! What did you buy that diamong ring for? Had she not cheated on you, did you want to marry her?”
Xie Zhuxing’s face was stern, “Yes, I bought it for my proposal.”
“…”
Wang Chao didn’t know what to say. There’s no point in raking up old grievances, and if there’s anyone to blame, he should blame himself for mentioning something he shouldn’t. When those two were discussing marriage, he didn’t even know him. He’s so angry that his jaw’s sore from clenching, but he couldn’t find any words to express his anger.
Xie Zhuxing continued, “She got pregnant then. I wanted to give her a home.”
Wang Chao’s eyes widened. It took him a while to pat his chest to calm down his breathing. Even his voice changed in tune, “Do you want me to die from anger?”
