All of a sudden, he was faced with a pair of sharp eyes. The owner of the eyes grabbed tightly onto the dagger that was about to be swung down, lifting his head up to look at that person’s expressionless face before him.
Unexpectedly, Qi Mo Ran started to laugh. His laughter sounding frenzied, yet bleak at the same time. He spoke, “These past few days, you have always been deceiving me, right?”
His hand started bleeding. In his feeble condition, this small resistance caused Bu Bai to freeze in place. A burst of light appearing above Qi Mo Ran’s hand, and he flung it towards Bu Bai. This caused Bu Bai to lose his ability to move as he fell back down limply once again.
The dagger fell from his hand, leaving behind the injury inflicted by it. However, the wound that was supposed to be on Qi Mo Ran’s hand had healed in a blink of the eye, no trace of it to be seen.
“Lao Da, isn’t his regenerative capabilities too powerful?” On the outside, Bu Bai had an expressionless appearance, but on the inside, his heart sank ruthlessly.
“In the ordinary course of events, he shouldn’t have this capability. This is most likely a BUG.” Towards that scene, Lao Da was also left quite speechless.
Bu Bai started to somewhat despair. As for Qi Mo Ran, in his eyes, he was someone who had failed in assassinating him. This gave birth to a state that couldn’t love. He let out a cold laugh, immeasurable malice entwined within it. “Do you really believe that you still have a place to return to? Do you really think that after killing me, you could start afresh, returning to being the admired son of a prominent family?”
Qi Mo Ran clutched Bu Bai’s neck — not using too much strength, but still enough to cause the other to have the sensation of being suffocated. Qi Mo Ran felt that the life within his hands was extremely frail. He merely had to exert a bit of his strength and it would wither away. Yet as it happens, he simply didn’t dare to do so — he didn’t dare to use even a fraction of his strength.
“I’ll tell you this. The moment that you had decided to return back here with me, your family thoroughly abandoned you. As for your beloved, where is he? Not even having the courage to stand up and say a single sentence, does that kind of person deserve you — this idiot — to sacrifice your life to protect him?”
Bit by bit, the light within Bu Bai’s eyes grew dim. He had already known all of that. Even if he didn’t, after such a long period of peace and quiet, he should be able to understand. It was simply because he wasn’t willing to know. He didn’t want to know. It was as if he had concentrated on resenting this person, just so he wouldn’t have to face this brutal reality. He had never lived in a good dream. Qi Mo Ran had merely repeatedly dragged him out of that cycle of revenge, before dropping him into that infinitely dark abyss.
Bu Bai started to cry. For the very first time, he threw away his pride — which had little value — and weeped unrestrainedly in front of his enemy. Qi Mo Ran suddenly became aware of that slender neck, that had given up struggling, grasped within his hands, unconsciously causing his heart to be pained. Agitated, he released Bu Bai and quickly left the secret chamber.
“Lao Da, I feel that I’m quite miserable.”
“Mn.” Once again, Lao Da exhaled a mouthful of thick smoke, an indistinct emotion within his eyes.
“That’s why, let me call you Bai Bai from now on. Alright?”
“Out of the question.” Since he still has the strength to crack a joke, it seems like the state of his mind wasn’t too terrible. Lao Da thought deeply.
For several consecutive days, Qi Mo Ran didn’t go to see Bu Bai. Ever since that day, he found himself in an extremely irritated mood and was afraid that if he did go, he would kill Bu Bai there and then on an impulse.
In the end, his longing triumphed over his resentment and eventually, Qi Mo Ran couldn’t help returning to the secret chamber. At that moment, it was night. The pale white moonlight penetrated through the windows, shining onto Bu Bai’s face as if it was assimilated with said person. The room was icy cold, to the extent that there was a shortness of breath.
Seeing his arrival, Bu Bai turned a smile — just like the blooming of a midnight cereus, it lasted for a fleeting instant — towards him. “I’ve decided.”
Qi Mo Ran thought, if the answer was not the one he desired, then he wouldn’t mind locking him in here for the rest of his life. Regardless of the outcome, this person ought to be his — in both life and death. He removed the skill he had used on Bu Bai. Said person ran towards him, staggering along the way as he took the initiative to take off his clothes. As if he was a sacrifice, he presented himself before his eyes.
“Are you willing?” Qi Mo Ran asked.
“I’m willing. I only have you left.” Apart for you, I have nothing. In this huge world, where is a place that I can stay?
It was a frenzied night. The man on the bottom did his utmost to cooperate, and Qi Mo Ran didn’t let him off easily either. From head to tail, he thoroughly ate the other person up. The feeling of releasing his lust caused Qi Mo Ran to be intoxicated, and it was only until the noon of the next day when he recovered his senses.
Bu Bai was still in a deep sleep. Seeing his current alluring appearance, Qi Mo Ran naturally remembered all of his actions yesterday. Filled to the brim with emotions, he gently kissed the corner of the other party’s lips. The kiss didn’t carry any strong or passionate feeling. Instead, it was as if someone who genuinely desired to accompany their partner throughout their life.
“Do you love me?” Qi Mo Ran persistently searched for the answer to this question. Even if he knew that Bu Bai couldn’t leave his side, he was still greedy. He desired to possess his everything — desiring to see a day where he would treat him in the same manner as Xiao Ye.
Xiao Ye. Qi Mo Ran repeatedly mulled over this name, his expression filled with bloodthirsty excitement. It was likely that he wouldn’t be able to return. His little male consort was too innocent and naive, how could he allow that scourge to continue living, safe and sound?
Their future cannot contain even the slightest incident.
The secret chamber was cold. Qi Mo Ran gathered his robes and carefully bundled the other person in them. Even if he only had a thin layer of clothing covering him, he didn’t feel the slightest bit chilly.
It wasn’t long before Bu Bai woke up. His sleep wasn’t particularly peaceful as it was extremely easy for him to dream about the past — concerning his family, regarding his lover. The sweet moments of that time were now like a knife wedged in his heart, gouging it out inch by inch. Every single one of them dripped with fresh blood, yet he was still reluctant to part with them.
“Mo Ran.” Bu Bai glanced at the man who merely wore a thin layer of clothes, before looking down at the familiar robes draped over him. His heart seemed like it was being poked. “I like you.”
“Really?” His pair of glossy black eyes sparkling with countless brilliance, Qi Mo Ran focused his gaze onto Bu Bai.
“Really.” Bu Bai got up and gave Qi Mo Ran a big hug, trying to use his body heat to warm that person’s icy cold skin. This touch didn’t contain any trace of hidden intentions, only the mere desire to transmit heat to the other. However, Qi Mo Ran felt the hard ice within him thaw under this warmth, leaving behind water — gentle and soft — as if he was completely containing the person by his side within him.
In the Demon Palace, everyone felt that their Demon Lord had changed. If it wasn’t for the fact that he still had a frosty demeanor whenever he faced them, they would practically think that their Demon Lord had been kidnapped.
Ever since they started following the Demon Lord, that person had always been straightforward. [1] No…… In fact, he had a true demonic look — cold-blooded and unable to be misled by anything. Yet now, as long as that skinny Dao chicken was by his side, the Demon’s Lord entire being would turn pleasantly warm. Furthermore, no matter how far his subordinates were, they would always be able to feel that putrid love.
Before, whenever the Demon Lord called for that Dao person, he would always use a disrespectful tone. Yet now, at every turn it would be ‘my Bai Bai’, repeatedly stunning many groups of people.
Throughout these few days, Bu Bai was never able to stand on his two feet. As Qi Mo Ran felt that his body was excessively weak, he insisted on carrying him all the time. No matter where they went, he would always carry him. There was once when he had asked to remain in the room to rest, this way Qi Mo Ran also wouldn’t need to trouble himself too much. Who’d knew that this suggestion would be exchanged with the following sentence.
“Bai Bai wants to leave me?” His voice sounded so sad and wretched, it was to the extent where Bu Bai jumped in surprise and didn’t dare to mention it again.
As Bu Bai had nothing to do, he could only pay close attention to this person. The colour of his lips were pale, but very beautiful. His eyes were pure black, and when a layer of love sat on top of them, they were extremely enchanting — Bu Bai found himself almost fascinated several times.
He didn’t know how much longer he would be able to endure this kind of days. However, he understood very clearly that he may never be able to fall in love with this man, who had ruined his life, for as long as he lives. Bu Bai wasn’t one to hold grudges, it was just that experiencing the feeling of death several times was too painful. Even if the wound had completely healed, the desperation and helplessness that he felt at that time had already been ruthlessly engraved into his memory — not a moment exists when he isn’t tormented by it.
He could make concessions to achieve his aim. He could also offer himself in order to gain this person’s trust. In any case, there was no one who would care and he had nothing he treasured.
Qi Mo Ran realised that no matter how much he cared for and fed Bu Bai, the said person was still losing weight bit by bit. Seeing this, he was especially distressed, but he still didn’t have any methods to effectively solve this problem.
Cultivators originally didn’t need to eat any food. That was why other than the said method, Qi Mo Ran didn’t know what else he could do to allow Bu Bai to recover back to his previous condition.
The scenery of the night was dark. The man on the bed silently let go of his lover’s hand, and upon seeing the appearance his peacefully sleeping lover, he kissed him lightly. After gently draping the quilt over him, he left by himself.
He didn’t notice that after he left, the eyes of his originally well-behaved lover abruptly snapped open.
“Want to know what he is doing?” Lao Da teased, his eyes, that seemed like black beads, were filled with the desire to gossip.
“It doesn’t have anything to do with me.” Bu Bai knew that Qi Mo Ran was sincere towards him, but what difference did that make? The blade had already been stabbed into him, and even if it had been pulled out afterwards, the wound wouldn’t necessarily disappear. He would forever make Qi Mi Ran pay the price for it.
The Demon Palace originally didn’t have any kitchen, so Qi Mo Ran had secretly built one. Referring to a book, he practiced daily. His talent wasn’t bad and after a few tries, he was able to produce a meal that was up to standards. However, he was always not satisfied. And as he was not pleased with the taste, how could he give it to that person?
The hand that was accustomed to a blade picked up the kitchen knife in an awkward manner, and his subordinates, who were secretly observing, revealed helpless and shocked expressions. After going through the stimulation from these few days, they understood how much significance their Master had placed onto that person. They didn’t have the qualifications or ability to assess whether this attachment was good or bad. That was why they could only hoped that that person knew how to treasure it. If not, then even if they had to risk their lives, they would still cause that person to be half dead with fright.
Not long after that, Bu Bai woke up. The moment he opened his eyes, he unconsciously reached out towards his side. When he didn’t feel the familiar and soft impression, he was indescribably somewhat at a loss, staring at the roof of the canopy bed in a daze.
“Little Bai.” Qi Mo Ran placed down the meal in his hands, moving closer towards Bu Bai as he smoothly picked him up, carring him towards the dining table. “I found some pretty good dishes recently and wanted you to have a taste.”
Bu Bai looked at him perplexedly as he spoke, “I thought we didn’t need to eat?”
“Just treat it as a hobby, okay?” Qi Mo Ran couldn’t stand Bu Bai’s current appearance the most, it always managed to tug on his heartstrings so easily.
“He personally made this?” Bu Bai asked. Rather than saying it was a inquiry, it was more like he had verified something that he already knew.
“Mn.” Lao Da neutrally spoke a sentence.
“Really stupid.” Bu Bai said in his heart. However, his hand didn’t stop moving as he picked up a piece of leafy vegetable and placed it in his mouth, causing a delicious taste, that was well out of his expectations, to spread within his mouth. He couldn’t help but glance up at Qi Mo Ran, who seemed to have inadvertently focused his attention onto him. Furthermore, it was only until he revealed a satisfied expression, did the said person seem to relax, his eyes filled with love.

[1] Resolute. Straight to the point. Doesn’t sh*t around. Because straightforward didn’t really give off that ‘feel’? For me at least. Err… it’s like a typical evil villain that would kill at a moment’s notice, for some insignificant matter, I guess? (aka QMR)
