As a matter of fact, Bu Bai was a person fond of good food. However, as he wasnât able endure this sort of atmosphere, he merely ate a few mouthfuls before stopping.
Tugging at Qi Mo Ranâs sleeve, he said, âIâm tired.â
This provoked a helpless look from that man, and immediately after that, a frenzied kiss descended down onto him. Just an inch away from the moment when Bu Bai wouldnât be able to breathe, the other man finally released him. Qi Mo Ran picked up the weak-limbed Bu Bai and walked away from the dining table, heading towards the bedroom instead. Before leaving, he looked back at the table that was still full of dishes, his expression dark and gloomy.
After returning to the room, Qi Mo Ran didnât say any unneeded words, immediately preparing the other person. Under his actions, the snow white clothing ripped and tore apart. And as if he was venting, Qi Mi Ran gnawed and nibbled on Bu Baiâs nape, leaving behind several bright red marks.
A spring night is rather too short. [1] Every time, the first one to be unable to continue would always be Bu Bai, and when that happened, Qi Mo Ran wouldnât have the desire to force him any further. He would only quietly hug the other man, who was in a deep sleep, before quickly falling fast asleep himself.
At the same time, Bu Bai woke up. Previously, he had indeed been tired to the extent where he had fainted, however, thanks to Lao Da lending him a helping hand, he was able to endure his bodyâs exhaustion and force himself out of his lethargic state.
Bu Bai understood that he was quickly approaching his limits. Even if it was to obtain trust, he had already done more than enough.
It isnât easy to kill a powerful demon. Furthermore, as his weapons had already been completely seized by Qi Mo Ran, Bu Bai could only pick up a hairpin by his side. As he channeled all of his strength through the hairpin, he was also entrusting his entire life to it. If this didnât succeed, then he would never get another chance.
The person who shared his bed was still sound asleep, completely unaware about the incoming danger. Bu Bai released a cold laugh, and in the blink of an eye, he plunged the hairpin into Qi Mo Ranâs flesh. However, just as he was about to pierce through the heart, he encountered some difficulties. In the end, no matter what, he wasnât able to continue further.
Bu Bai didnât retreat. Filled with determination, he stabbed the hairpin into Qi Mo Ranâs body. However, in the end he could only hear a loud and clear sound. The hairpin had actually snapped. Moreover, Qi Mo Ran had woken up.
âWhy?â Qi Mo Ran looked towards his attacker, as if he didnât understand the situation in front of his eyes. Or perhaps, he had understood very clearly, but wasnât willing to acknowledge it.
âDonât act dumb with me. You killed me several times, how could I have forgiven you so easily?â At the moment, Bu Bai shed his originally docile appearance, burning hatred filling his pair of lake blue eyes. âSince I failed, you will kill me, isnât that good? For as long as I live, I will never let you off.â
Blood was still bubbling out of his chest, yet it seemed like Qi Mo Ran didnât feel even a slightest twinge of pain as he held on tightly to the person before his eyes. Upon receiving his call, the sword, Mo Jun, flew into his hand.
The blade was pointed at Bu Baiâs stomach. And at the same time, Bu Bai squeezed his eyes shut. Although the situation had already progressed to such extent, Qi Mo Ran realised that he still wasnât able to bring his hand down. The blade moved slightly, and Bu Bai could only feel pain blossoming through his waist. However, it wasnât a fatal injury. Opening his eyes, he stared at Qi Mo Ran in shock. âWhy didnât you kill me?â Immediately after saying these words, he sank down into the darkness.
âBecause I hate it.â Qi Mo Ran embraced the unconscious man, caressing his cheeks that were pale from excessive loss of blood. The smile on his face was full of ridicule. âPresumably, you wonât believe it either.â
After this incident, the treatment that Bu Bai received wasnât absolutely glorious. Locked inside a dark and gloomy secret chamber, he was only be able to see a single person everyday; Qi Mo Ran. And even then, it was only to change his bandages at fixed timings. Other than those times, he would be all by himself. Furthermore, as Bu Baiâs four limbs was locked in place by heavy chains, he was unable to move about. His originally tender and lovely wrists changed to become coarse and rough due to several days of torment, welts even emerging on them from time to time
If it had been an average person who was in this enclosed environment for such a long period of time, perhaps they would have already given up at an earlier time. However, Bu Bai was different, he was able to chat with Lao Da for days on end. Lao Da was very knowledgeable, and even though most of the time, Lao Da was unwilling to acknowledge this noisy fellow, Bu Bai still enjoyed the feeling of pestering him to speak. This was more exciting compared to the task.
From an outsiderâs perspective, Bu Bai would be sleeping all day long. Furthermore, it would be the kind of sleep that he would seldom awaken from. Whenever Qi Mo Ran dropped by, Bu Bai would always be in deep sleep. He had already examined the other man several times, yet he wasnât able to find any signs of an illness. His heart became all the more anxious.
After that, each time he came over, he would deliberately wake that person from his slumber. Even if every single time, he would only be greeted by that personâs hatred and contempt, it still allowed his heart to feel more at ease.
In all fairness, the way Bu Bai passed this period of time was indeed not bad. He didnât have a loathsome task to complete, and he could play around with Lao Da, who he liked, at any time he wanted. He felt that life should generally be like this.
Lao Da looked at the child who was beside himself with happiness, but in the end, didnât say anything unnecessary. A few days ago, he had already placed this child through many hardships. He would also turn a blind eye towards this occasional self-indulgent behaviour and let him off.
Qi Mo Ran didnât know how he should capture Bu Bai anymore. On one hand, said person wanted his life, but on the other hand, he wished to be with the said person forever. This matter, no matter how hard he searched for a solution, would always be an unsolvable question.
He had never liked drinking wine. The substance within this glass was not only harmful to his health, but it could also easily make a mess of things. However, ever since that day, he couldnât help but to be reluctant to leave this muddled sensation. As if he was addicted, he drank to no ends, always passing out drunk by himself in the bedroom, hugging the quilt â that the two of them had slept on before â and sleeping deeply.
In the secret chamber, there was no way to discern between day and night. Bu Bai also didnât particularly care about the time. At the moment, he was awoken by a burst of pain â someone had ruthlessly kicked the place where his wound was located.
âItâs all because of you, this scourge that harmed His Majesty into behaving disgustingly like a drunkard.â Before his eyes, there was a man dressed in black. His facial features felt extremely familiar to Bu Bai, it was as if he had seen this person by Qi Mo Ranâs side before.
Being grabbed by his neck, Bu Baiâs pair of legs gradually begun to leave the ground. Unexpectedly though, he didnât resist, obediently accepting everything that soon arrive. When that person saw this, he seemed to smile for a moment before saying, âWanting to die, it wonât be that easy.â Being thrown onto the ground like an object, Bu Bai felt a fishy sensation well up within his throat. However he stubbornly endured it.
But the man didnât intend to let him off so easily. A dagger â that was as white as snow â appeared within his hand, a chill from the cold steel blade seeping into Bu Baiâs face and deep down into Bu Baiâs soul. He heard that person say, âIâm aware that the Demon King cares about you. After killing you, Iâd reckon I wonât be allowed to live. Thatâs why, let me enjoy this moment one last time. The path towards the Yellow Springs is lonely and wretched, so let us set off for it together!
The edge of the blade streaked across Bu Baiâs body, a deep welt being left behind on every place it passed. The person in front of him was thoroughly absorbed. As if he was creating an exquisite piece of art, there was no other emotions that could be seen on his face.
Bu Bai trembled in pain. If he hadnât been firmly biting down on his lower lip, he would have probably already cried out. Towards certain things, he was always particularly stubborn. Even if he were to be riddled with scars, he didnât want to abandon that remaining sliver of pride he had.
Bu Baiâs consciousness began to blur, and within his daze, he saw that demon collapse. After that, he was caught in a familiar embrace, that person calling out for him, âBu Bai.â
Bu Bai faintly felt someone feeding him several precious medicine, it was just that the hand that fed him was somewhat unsteady and had dropped the pill onto the ground several times. Very quickly after that, he became much more clear-headed.
He looked at the man in front of him, his eyes filled with pleasant surprise and helplessness. Why did you come? Why did you only come now? Bu Bai didnât dare to ask, and did not necessarily have to ask. He had been utterly broken for a long time, even if this person had not abandoned him all along, so what? They already couldnât return back.
âXiao Ye, why did you come here?â Why did he come to this dangerous place on his own?
âIâm here to take you away.â Xiao Yeâs eyes were red and swollen. It was obvious that he had been crying for a long time, yet his pupils were bright to the extent that it was astonishing. It was just like the moment when he had first seen him, they were filled with life and vigour.
âIâm not going.â Bu Bai pushed Xiao Ye away, clasping his hand between his own and spoke quietly.
How could Xiao Ye be someone who gave up so easily? He determinedly turned Bu Baiâs head around, allowing the said person to look straight at him, and asked, âWhy? All of them treat you in such manner.â Xiao Yeâs heart ached as he gazed at the densely packed scars on Bu Baiâs body. Reaching out with his finger, he wanted to touch them, but was afraid that he would hurt the other person.
âXiao Ye, Iâm not who I was before. I donât want our engagement anymore.â Bu Bai closed his eyes tiredly. As much as possible, he didnât want to see the expression on his loverâs face at the moment. He was afraid that his heart would turn soft.
âBu Bai, did something happen?â Xiao Ye didnât get upset, on the contrary, he quietened down, doing his best to speak in a gentle and soft voice, âI wonât ask. I also donât care. So long as youâre willing to be with me, then itâs fine. Bu Bai, letâs go find a nice place together, it will be just the two of us, spending our lives together. Is that alright?â
Perhaps it was due to the speech being too alluring, or maybe it was that personâs manner of speaking that excessively aroused his guilt, but Bu Bai actually accepted. âAlright.â He spoke, a single word â that was as light as a feather â had already expended all of his courage.
Lao Da asked, âDo you want to leave with the Protagonist?â
âWe wonât be able to leave.â Bu Bai answered, âEven if the Protagonist only has kindy intentions, he still wonât find it easy.â
The corner of Lao Daâs lips drew inwards. That was true, his entire family had been exterminated by the Villain, and even his Dao Companion had laid with the Villain. And no matter how hard he tried, he was still unable to defeat others. This was really a history of capitalized tragedy!
Due to Bu Bai not wanting to become Xiao Yeâs burden, he insisted on dragging his heavily injured self on his own. Seeing this, Xiao Ye felt his heart ache with distress. However, he simply had no means to stop it, and could only let this person be his headstrong self.
From the beginning to the end, as he had always been in a unconscious state, Bu Bai truly did not know where the hidden chamber was located. But when he walked out and saw the familiar bedroom, he finally realised it. A burst of complicated feelings formed within his heart.
Qi Mo Ran wasnât here. When Bu Bai came out, he saw that it was already around midnight, yet there was no sign of that person who should have been here. He felt indescribably anxious.
Bu Bai stepped forward and grabbed Xiao Yeâs hand, acting out of character as he spoke in an unyielding manner, âIf one day, I were to die, you still have to to live on by yourself without being affected.â
Xiao Ye laughed, poking his beloved person on his forehead, and rebuking, âWhat kind of nonsense are you talking about?â
âIâm serious.â I seriously wish that you will promise me this.
âI promise you.â Xiao Ye felt that his beloved was too anxious. As long as he was here, they face this sort of problems. Right now, he was being slightly submissive so as to reassure him.
