The staff are setting up by the shore while the celebrities are having fun. He Anran is yelling out while kicking her feet in the water, “xiao-Liu, you should come over with Mr. Shao! The water is cold!”
The others also say things to similar effect.
“Thanks, but you all have fun for now.” Shao Yanxi’s feet are hurt. If he takes off his shoe now to step into the sand and water it’ll be quite problematic.
Then Liu Yu’an remembers they’re both wearing sneakers and asks Shao Yanxi, “did you bring sandals?”
“I did.” The assistant packed his suitcase for him.
“Change into them.”
Then they walk towards the shore with sandals. Xu Bing asks, “really not coming into the water? The temperature’s really nice too.”
“Nevermind that, we’d have to set up tents soon enough too.”
“Familiar with the tropes now, aren’t we?” Cui Shaolin says as he comes onto the scene, “he’s right, you have to draw lots now and build tents after that.”
And wails follow as everyone’s dreams of playing about in water are shattered.
Then they quickly get to work switching into teams. As expected, Liu Yu’an and Shao Yanxi end up in the same team perhaps thanks to the machinations behind scenes. Xue Junming and Lan Shi are also in their team.
The others are in the other team.
Then, obviously, Liu Yu’an’s team is the quickest with the tents as well, though the show didn’t set up a competition for that this time. Instead, they are presented with fishing nets from who knows where and told to catch fish.
Fishing nets are stuff nobody who isn’t a professional would know how to use, including even Liu Yu’an who hasn’t had to actually catch fish with a net in all his prior experiences.
What’s unexpected though is that the obscure celebrity An Xin actually knew how to use a fishing net, so Liu Yu’an’s team lost this first race. Their penalty is to have to sing a song that the other team designates.
As An Xin practically led his team to victory, He Anran’s team let him choose the singer.
“Anyone?” An Xin seems excited as he looks over Shao Yanxi and co.
“Yes, anyone,” Cui Shaolin says, and An Xin immediately asks his team and the camera, “everyone wants to hear Mr. Shao sing, no?”
The answer is quite obvious.
So An Xin asks Liu Yu’an’s team, “do we have the honour of listening to Mr. Shao’s singing?”
Shao Yanxi seems to be in shellshock as his face visibly contorts.
He doesn’t even listen to music. He reflexively looks to Liu Yu’an for assistance.
Liu Yu’an, therefore, offers up that, “Yanxi doesn’t listen to songs at all, how about someone else?”
“Well, we can do nursery rhymes instead?” An Xin does not answer Liu Yu’an, and continues, “something like London Bridge or Two Tigers?”
“If you can’t recall on the spot, I’ll start for you, London Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down…”
Then when he gestures for Shao Yanxi to sing, Shao Yanxi doesn’t move.
“I’m sorry, but I haven’t attended elementary school in the normal sense,” since he was homeschooled right up until senior high school. Besides things like maths and language classes, he even had to learn the zither , Chinese chess, the classics and Chinese painting, because to his mother, these are noble arts, and singing is done by lower-class rabble instead.
So he never even heard a nursery rhyme from his mother once.
Then his mother went mad, and nobody took care of him, and he was preoccupied with revenge, obviously, he wouldn’t know how to sing; in fact, he has even lost the skills in the traditional Chinese arts he learned.
Once vengeance was complete he had been busy with his company too.
“Can’t Youyou sing for me?” Shao Yanxi blurts out subconsciously.
“Youyou?” Everyone goes ‘huh.’
“Liu Yu’an,” Shao Yanxi says, biting his lips. He regrets speaking without thinking and revealing Liu Yu’an’s nickname. He doesn’t want everyone to know that, and so is a bit upset with himself.
“Oh, Xiao-Liu has such a nickname, huh? That’s really cute, hahaha.”
“Wait, then wouldn’t Mr. Liu himself be called Zuozuo ?” He Anran asks, chuckling.
“If you are referring to my brother, Liu Yuxi, then you are right,” Liu Yu’an replies. Then he realises Shao Yanxi’s mood seems to have deteriorated. He looks… saddened?
He asks, moving the microphone away and in a whisper, “what’s wrong?”
Shao Yanxi shakes his head, determined to give Liu Yu’an a unique nickname that belongs only to him.
So Liu Yu’an watches as the depressed-looking person suddenly cheer up and give him a look of determination.
Liu Yu’an “…”
Meanwhile, He Anran then announces over at the other team, “then let’s invite our little friend Youyou to sing for us!”
Everyone breaks out in laughter over that, and even Shao Yanxi seems to be smiling slightly, whispering to Liu Yu’an, “my child, please.”
“Yeah, good teasing to you,” Liu Yu’an says.
Then he puts his microphone back in place before saying, “thankfully I actually happened to have learnt a new song before,” he then speaks out towards the staff, “can I have my phone here for the melody?”
“An-ge, what song is it?”
“How Lucky,” he says, “I don’t want to forget my lyrics on stage, you know.”
Then the staff hand his phone over after notifying the director, with the screen already showing Han Anxu’s
After clearing out his throat loudly, drawing another round of laughter, he starts singing. The song is quick in pace and light in tune, but Liu Yu’an sings it with a more romantic, affectionate interpretation instead. Especially when his gazes passes over Shao Yanxi, the smile on him is so sweet it makes one diabetic.
In the end, the ones present who knew how to sing as well join in. This ends up a chorus and pushes the mood quite high.
Afterwards, they all praise Liu Yu’an for his singing, and he really did sing well, especially when there was a tinge of affection that he didn’t even notice injected himself.
Though Shao Yanxi doesn’t know how to sing it, he is watching intently with starry eyes; if not for the crowd present, he’d probably be jumping on Liu Yu’an to kiss him.
Lan Shi suddenly speaks out at this amazing moment, though, “is it fine we’re singing the whole thing on TV? Do we need to buy copyright?”
Everyone else “…”
And there go the smiles.
Liu Yu’an reassures her though, “it’s fine. We just have to buy the copyright before the show airs.”
“Ah, another expense for the show then.” Xu Bing says, then everyone laughs again. He Anran directs the conversation towards Shao Yanxi, saying, “not even Mr. Shao is worrying yet, haha.”
Some sound their confusion over the remark, and He Anran explains, “Anyan invested in this, but didn’t you know that Anyan is actually a subsidiary of Heng’an?”
An Xin replies, “really? We didn’t know.”
“We know about it, but didn’t make the connection just now,” Xu Bing says.
“Anyan, huh?” Ge Zhengzhi says, darting his gaze between Shao Yanxi and Liu Yu’an, seemingly in thought.
If they really are in a sugar daddy relationship, Shao Yanxi wouldn’t have named Anyan that, even putting Liu Yu’an’s name before his.
Meanwhile, the others fail to make that observation though, and are still happily chatting away about copyright.
“Well, that’s all well and good but we’ll worry about that for you later,” Cui Shaolin cuts them off, “it’s already sunset, so it’s time for you to prepare your dinner, unless you want to drink the seaside wind for the night.”
They only have the fish right now, without branches and whatever, so they quickly rush off to pick some.
Liu Yu’an wants to let Shao Yanxi rest his feet, so he told him to watch over the fish while they are off to pick branches; they aren’t even offered a barrel so all the fish are still struggling in the net right now. Everyone else also seems content with him watching over the fish.
Then, Liu Yu’an, Xue Junming and Lan Shi are all off to pick branches in the forest. Since he wants to be with Shao Yanxi more, Liu Yu’an quickly finishes collecting a batch and calls the other two back.
When they are back though, Liu Yu’an sees An Xin sitting next to Shao Yanxi, sitting so close he’s almost in contact with him; when Shao Yanxi sits a bit further away, he even nudges closer.
And since Shao Yanxi is still holding onto the fishing net, he can’t retreat much further.
It’s of course not the first time Shao Yanxi has encountered such shameless people, but it’s been a long time since he has come across any after reincarnating back in time and marrying Liu Yu’an for real.
He didn’t think much at first but then he immediately grows disgusted when he realises what’s going on. Liu Yu’an is already back though when he is about to scold him, and takes away his fishing net, saying, “we’ve got the firewood, so wait by the fire while I grill some fish for you.”
Then he gives An Xin a rather hostile glance; as someone who’s seen blood and even killed people, if he wanted to, he could still appear rather ominous to common people .
An Xin is shocked, as expected, so much so that he inadvertently let go of the fishing net he is holding himself.
Before he realised his net has already drifted away into the ocean. So when He Anran and the others are back, there’s quite the commotion. And oddly enough, the usually laid back and easy-to-talk-to Liu Yu’an and even members of the group refuse to share any of their catch with them. He Anran’s group looks rather troubled especially when Liu Yu’an’s group is partaking in the fragrance of freshly grilled fish.
Without any other method, Xu Bing comes over to ask “Mr. Shao, can we borrow your fishing net at least?”
They asked the staff already but they don’t have any extra fishing net. Although Xu Bing doesn’t know why they got onto Liu Yu’an’s bad side, Liu Yu’an’s rather sharp rejection to sharing earlier made him choose to talk to Shao Yanxi instead.
Shao Yanxi doesn’t agree immediately. Instead, he asks the group’s others, including Liu Yu’an, and only lets them have their net when all of them agree.
“Thank you Mr. Shao, An-ge, Xue-ge, Lan-jie,” since they’re all older than him, Xu Bing thanks them one by one before finally securing a fishing net.
