Though the show had to go with a beach instead of a deserted island, they still went all in this time. They have gone with as deserted a shoreline as possible, with the sea in front of them and a dense undeveloped forest behind them, dozens of miles from any human settlement, unlike last time when there was still a hotel nearby.
Anyway, they are being filmed getting to the location on foot in the forest. The staff wanted to help Shao Yanxi with his luggage, but Shao Yanxi says, “don’t worry, I’m fine.” Most importantly, even the female celebrities are carrying their own things. He can’t possibly ask for help himself.
Unfortunately for him, a frequent office desk worker, while he might have a bit more strength than the female celebrities still, his endurance can barely hold a candle to them, whose work in shows and movies are all stamina-intensive. Not to mention they have to exercise regularly to keep in shape.
Celebrities who would sign onto a show named ‘Wilderness Survival’ are also obviously ones that are already physically fit.
Thus, Shao Yanxi ends up being the first to start running out of breath along the way. Liu Yu’an can’t help but sigh inside and take his suitcase, then saying loudly enough for the camera to record, “you work too hard every day and can’t exercise, can you? It’s normal you’re tired after walking so long, and dragging a suitcase along to boot.”
Shao Yanxi really is too prideful, unwilling to let anyone see his weak side.
Still, he’s prideful but not mindlessly stubborn. He overestimated himself this time, so hearing what Liu Yu’an said he follows up, saying, “I’ll definitely train more back home. My body really isn’t holding up, getting exhausted after a few steps.”
Liu Yu’an chuckles at that; it isn’t the first time Liu Yu’an has said it now. The last time he said it was on the bed, when he was tired out. He would bet that this is another empty promise, and he’d still be lazing about at home.
Of course, everyone else, whether genuinely or otherwise, would be impressed with what Shao Yanxi has promised despite their perception of him being busy with work, no time, blabla… just like them.
It makes Liu Yu’an want to shake his head.
Shao Yanxi really is not as disciplined as he makes himself appear to be. At least, in private, from what he could see, besides his necessary work, he would rather throw everything else to his vice executives. He would say he has to exercise over and over again but never actually move.
When he wakes up in the morning, how he left his bed is how it will be. He wouldn’t even flatten the blankets out (TL: Umm… Is that a problem? And didn’t the latest science say it is actually best to leave it crumpled up because for some reason it prevents mould or whatever?; Edit: Courtesy of Pure and Righteous Flower of Evil ‘s comment which you can read by clicking on it, it is best to leave it as-is for a short amount of time for the moisture to disperse, which prevents mould, before folding it up) .
Shao Yanxi, meanwhile, is unfazed at all the praise, taking them all without so much as a tinge of shame, even saying, “it is certainly the case that work has taken much of my free time.”
Then he goes to take his own suitcase back from Liu Yu’an’s hand, saying, “thanks, I’ll carry it from here.”
There’s a lot of stuff in his suitcase, which had a hard time navigating the leaves and branches on the ground, which made him so tired in the first place. Now he had time to rest his hand is much better.
Even if Liu Yu’an is fit, it is probably still tiring to drag two suitcases along. He can’t take his selflessness for granted.
“I’m fine, don’t worry,” Liu Yu’an doesn’t let him. He exercises regularly, and Shao Yanxi lazes about; he runs laps every day, Shao Yanxi always goes everywhere by car. After walking so long he probably has blisters already.
And that is certainly the case. It also hurts really badly.
But to him, that is not a reason to push his suitcase all onto Liu Yu’an.
Especially when even the two female celebrities are still dragging their suitcase along. He can’t possibly have Liu Yu’an carry his suitcase for him all the time while complaining about how his feet hurt. He’s a man, you know.
If nothing else, he feels pained at heart making Liu Yu’an carry everything.
“I’ll pull it myself,” Shao Yanxi says, pulling the suitcase his way.
The others start to speak up seeing them holding up over a suitcase. Xue Junming says, “I can carry it for Mr. Shao. I didn’t bring much stuff along today so it’s not heavy.”
“Thank you, but I’m alright. I can carry it myself,” Shao Yanxi replies.
“We’ve been walking for a while now. Director, can’t we take a breather for a few minutes?” He Anran decides to propose an alternate solution. The director agrees, and everyone can sit and rest, surrounding Shao Yanxi in the process for some reason.
Liu Yu’an really wanted to ask Shao Yanxi how his feet felt, but in public Shao Yanxi definitely wouldn’t want anyone to know. He decides to keep the question in mind for later.
They manage to make it out of the forest soon enough later. At the beach, everyone is like dogs let off the leash, throwing off their shackles (read: suitcases) and running for the ocean, even the movie star Xue Junming. All of them except Shao Yanxi, really, because his feet are hurting.
Well, even if it isn’t, he still wouldn’t run to keep up his image.
Naturally, Liu Yu’an is following after him. With the others gone, he asks, covering his microphone, “how does your leg feel?”
Shao Yanxi is about to answer when Liu Yu’an points to his microphone. Shao Yanxi removes it before saying, “there are blisters,” and then adding, “it really hurts.”
Liu Yu’an feels a bit sorry for him. He tells the cameraman following them, “go after them first. We need a bit of time.”
The cameraman knows about their relationship as well, but he’s still surprised by the rather cutesy ‘it really hurts.’ In fact, he thought Shao Yanxi was the dominant one in the relationship, but he is shocked, shaken; he kind of needed some time to gather himself (TL: Excuse me but what in the actual world?!) , so he takes the advice immediately and escapes with camera in hand.
After that, Liu Yu’an puts his suitcase back down and takes Shao Yanxi behind the lush bushes, saying, “let me have a look.”
Since they’ve done it together, Shao Yanxi has truly now viewed Liu Yu’an as his significant other, and does what he says without question.
He pulls off two cleaner-looking leaves, handing one to Liu Yu’an and one for himself. Then he takes off his shoe.
There are blisters on both the front of his feet and his ankle. Even two very big ones on the ankle of his right knee. Liu Yu’an feels pained to see that. He takes two bottles of water out, one for Shao Yanxi to drink, and the other to wash Shao Yanxi’s feet clean for him.
Shao Yanxi is surprised by the gesture. He quickly stops drinking and says, “I’ll do it myself.”
Even though he doesn’t have particularly smelly feet, but you can imagine how it would be after walking for half a day in sneakers in the waning days of summer.
“Don’t move,” Liu Yu’an stops him, saying, “it’s inconvenient to do it yourself. We have to finish up quickly or they’d come looking for us soon enough.”
Liu Yu’an really is quick with his hands. He finishes cleaning them, then wiping them with some clean clothes, then taking and shaving the splinters off a small pointy branch and finish dealing with the blisters in one fell swoop.
Finally, he cleans the wounds with iodine tinctures and puts a band-aid on them. Then he puts Shao Yanxi’s shoes back on for him, “we’ll have to make do with this for now.”
“Yeah,” he insisted on coming, so Shao Yanxi can only own up to it.
Then, he looks about and quickly makes sure that nobody can see them, before quickly raising his head to plant a kiss on Liu Yu’an’s mouth.
Liu Yu’an “…”
He also takes a look around, then pulls Shao Yanxi over. Shao Yanxi is spooked and warns him with a muffled voice, “don’t act rashly.”
Someone might come at any time.
“We can hear them.” Liu Yu’an replies, then he starts French kissing Shao Yanxi.
As he said though, they do hear people. In fact, they hear them soon after they start kissing.
“We’re coming!” He yells out, then Liu Yu’an examines Shao Yanxi’s skin, reddened in the summer sun, “we’ll ask if the girls brought any sunscreen later.”
“Tell them you’re the one that wants to use them.”
Liu Yu’an chuckles, and says, “understood. It’s me who wants to use sunscreen.”
Then as they head back, Liu Yu’an says, “one more thing. I know you want to see me and give me a surprise but it was really unwise to go about it like you did this time. Any other show would be fine but you know ones like wilderness survival would be really tiring…” He decides to end the disapproving remarks there and say, “next time you really want to join, at least talk with me first, alright? I don’t want to see you pained like this either.”
Shao Yanxi also knows that, and nods, “got it.”
Though he doesn’t regret it, he still feels sorry for dragging Liu Yu’an behind, but he also really wants to participate in a show with Liu Yu’an together.
Liu Yu’an decides to drop the topic with that, and says, “they should put us in the same group later. Follow me when they’re building the tents later.”
Well, they are supposed to draw random lots, but the show can’t possibly separate the two of them now, can they?
“Yeah,” he’ll be too tired to do anything if he’s not by Liu Yu’an side, because his feet hurt.
When everyone else sees them come outside of the bushes with puffed lips, their thoughts immediately go in the wrong direction.
The staff and the celebrities that know their relationship already assume they’ve gone off to have a little bit of romantic time together and aren’t particularly surprised.
Meanwhile, Lan Shi, An Xin and Ge Zhengzhi already have vague ideas about them given the bombastic news these two days, but they’re not sure whether it is a sugar daddy relationship or a romantic relationship.
While it’s revealed Liu Yu’an’s family background is also formidable, but it is still incomparable to Shao Yanxi’s. And Liu Yu’an is also merely a celebrity right now. Their social status doesn’t even begin to compare. So they’re currently still observing.
In fact, An Xin, who is wallowing in obscurity, is even thinking that if Liu Yu’an is a toyboy kept by Shao Yanxi, he’d also try his hand at getting Shao Yanxi’s affection; he debuted early at 19, but faded into obscurity soon after, but he’s only 25 now.
While he’s one year older than Liu Yu’an, he’s still a year younger than Shao Yanxi.
That said, no matter what everyone is thinking, they are at least all behaving themselves in front of Liu Yu’an and Shao Yanxi.
