It draws inspiration from the character designs, backgrounds, and settings of the Pokémon anime, special episodes, and games, but is primarily original. The overall setting is more realistic than the anime, but it is not dark; rather, it is more inclined towards a sunny and positive tone. The 'golden finger' setting pays homage to 'The Occult Master', but there is no actual connection, and the art style and background are unrelated. The book features various anime characters and related plots, such as high school detective Shinichi with a cleaning Rotom, and the Pokémon skills sealed in the Clow Cards... However, the main storyline is undoubtedly centered around Pokémon.
