That’s right, Gu Bai was Gu Long’s loyal reading fan. And out of all the characters, from all of Gu Long’s books, his favorite character would definitely be Ye Gu Cheng, the City Governor of Bai Yun Cheng [1]. His current style was also the real Zi Che Shu Bai’s style of writing. And of course, his original goal wasn’t to make the protagonist devour Bai Yun City Governor, in one bite.
In Gu Bai’s original plot, the protagonist was a calm but zestful, extremely kind person. He would sacrifice his life to save the world, and at the last moment, he would die ironically. Then his name would be remembered by all the people, across the entire continent, for their entire life, his glory would shine for centuries.
But in the current big movement, this kind of people had a nickname, it was “Sha Bi” [2]. This was also one of the fundamental reasons why, after he’d finished reading the plot back then, Gu Bai’s bestie told him his original plot was definitely going to fail. The other reason was definitely that the protagonist wasn’t pushing down girls.
All those who were readers, all knew that, although it was very alluring and tempting when female authors began acting like Mary Sue, when male authors started to act like Mary Sue, fucking hell, that’s what you’d really call inhuman! And how did male authors act like Mary Sue? If it wasn’t the male protagonist, then it was the male sub-main characters. If a zestful male protagonist couldn’t act like Mary Sue, then there had to be a tall, rich and handsome guy in the story!
In the original plot, the City Governor of Tian Du Cheng was actually a tall, rich and handsome man like that. Zi Che Shu Bai’s original character setting wasn’t a cannon fodder at all… Oh, wait… it was getting along together well with each other at first sight, and becoming good friends after that. And he accompanied the protagonist on leveling up throughout the story, they carried each other’s heart on each other’s sleeves and followed each other through life and death. Until the end of the story, when the protagonist was saving the world, he also left earlier than the protagonist, so the success rate for the protagonist to save the world increased, from 80% to a 100%. A man like this was the protagonist’s only bosom buddy.
At the same time, Zi Che Zhu Bai’s personality was a lot different from the Zi Che Shu Bai from the “ Plot ● Alter ver.” He was born to be a wushu nerd, not an unsociable person, who only began carrying responsibilities after his father’s death. He was born to enjoy loneliness, but when he encountered the protagonist, he was also willing to walk out of the loneliness…
He had Ye Gu Cheng’s assets and advantages, but he didn’t have Ye Gu Cheng’s burdens. He was loyal and honest to himself, he didn’t care about fame and wealth at all, in his world there was only himself, and it would stay forever the same. However, now he suddenly had a brother. His poor, boring life which was only full of wushu’s enigmas and nothing else, was now brightened up by the protagonist’s light.
After the protagonist saved the world, countless of his brothers, subordinates, and friends that were with him; committed suicide, one by one. Their names were left on World Pillar, which was what the protagonist’s body transformed into. As for Zi Che Shu Bai, his name was the only one that lined up, side by side, next to the protagonist’s name on the World Pillar.
From here, you could clearly see how Tom Sue Zi Che Shu Bai was in the original plot. If this was a manga, then he would be the popular, male sub-main character, that endlessly updated the fashion standard, thus suppressing the protagonist. But within novels, he was the protagonist’s true love and the sin-door in everyone’s heart.
But ever since the plot was changed, everyone became cannon fodders before the protagonist’s eyes. Even if Zi Che Shu Bai’s character setting remained unchanged, he’d only be a nutritious tonic to the protagonist that’s corrupted from the roots.
So, Gu Bai, who cared about his characters, hadn’t only kept the physical appearance and unique body type of the original Zi Che Shu Bai, but he had also made a large scale change to his personality, hobbies, and abilities. As if he had suddenly turned an original, into a replica. In this way, Gu Bai was finally able to suppress his feelings and turn Zi Che Shu Bai into a cannon fodder.
Many storylines and events were also changed, for example, the setting of the Blood Essence Lingzhi Mushroom, which was originally meant to consolidate the brotherhood relationship between the protagonist and Zi Che Shu Bai.
For example when the defects of Zi Che Shu Bai’s wu ti burst, after knowing he had consumed his brother’s only hope, every day, the protagonist gave his brother a bowl of his blood to drink, which made his face yellow, really skinny, and looked very poor. This made Zi Che Shu Bai, who’d always acted cold, feel touched… Anyway, things were as soppy drama, blood boiling and emotional as they could have been. Those events then became the story plot preparations for Zi Che Shu Bai to travel with the protagonist, giving his all to the protagonist, that included his life later in the story.
Maybe there was even a noun that could be used to describe it, which would be “Sad Su”. But now all those story events were gone, the tall, rich and handsome Zi Che Shu Bai only had his physical appearance left. But even in that situation, Gu Bai still let Zi Che Shu Bai become the protagonist’s first stepping stone, the first person devoured by the protagonist. Maybe this was also Gu Bai’s personal motives.
The extent the current Gu Bai, of whom had transmigrated into the novel, had gone to, one could say that he had experienced the joy of cosplaying. How could acting Marry Su through pens be more satisfying than through real people? Luckily, Gu Bai had a strong fundamental of wushu, to some degree, his acting was quite successful in some ways. If he was an actual cosplayer, then, even he had to give himself ten thousand likes.
Gu Bai, who felt his handsomeness had exceeded everyone’s expectations, maintained his cold emotionless stance. But the four mindful little cotton jackets ● real girls, that were beautiful like flowers he had trained for a long time, glanced at each other secretly. Then, the one that held a flute took a step forward, her sakura lips opened slightly as she spoke with a voice like the sound from heaven.
“Today, thanks everyone, for your kind regards and for showing up at our Tian Du Cheng’s City Governor’s birthday banquet. It’s our Tian Du Cheng’s honor to have you all here. Everyone, please take a seat.”
Many of the guests that stood up after the arrival of Tian Du Cheng’s owner, one by one, offer their greetings to the young man on the high platform with their fist and palm, and then they each went to sit down in their seats. However, since they were here to participate in the birthday banquet, then the next event was definitely going to be presenting their gifts.
Gu Bai, who was inside of Zi Che Shu Bai’s body; sat at the highest place, with a cold expression, his expression remained unchanged as he continued scanning through all kinds of unique and fancy treasures presented by the guests, one by one. This caused the guests to start complaining in their hearts, but that guy was already a successful person at a young age, he left the beautiful servants to take care of all the greetings, and sometimes he also nodded his head, which couldn’t be counted as impolite… Suddenly, Gu Bai left an unpredictably deep impression in everyone’s heart.
However, in the corner where no-one could see, the young man, that was always leaning sideways on the throne, felt really sour. Fuck, I only remembered that this posture looks really handsome on the television, but why the fuck has no one ever told me, that this posture is extremely tiring! It’s really hard to maintain the same posture for several hours, my waist is already colliding with the back of the throne! My body is sore as fuck, and my entire body feels uncomfortable!
You really needed to pay the price for acting like a dickhead… thank god that I practice wushu! Gu Bai thought, without exposing any expression on his face, and then… he gently clapped his hands.
Under the soft call of a beautiful servant, ten more young girls walked out from the back of the Main Hall, all of them were carefully selected dancers. There were also some young boys, with a delicate, pretty physical appearance, each of whom, were playing an instrument in their hands.
The dancers quickly began dancing. After combining Gu Bai’s knowledge and experience, of which he’d gained from the many dancing programs he’d watched on his computer, and from the modern society, the dance those dancers danced, was naturally alluring, like dreams and fantasies, or playing hard to get. In short, their dances were groundbreakingly beautiful and touching.
People always said that establishing a bond between men could never be done without involving eating, drinking, visiting prostitutes and gambling. Now, other than gambling, there were unlimited beauties and gourmets at people’s disposal.
Gu Bai didn’t have personal experience, but he had quite a lot of theoretical experience. He’d read countless novels on the Internet, in his previous life, he’d even conducted a lot of research because he’d wanted to make his stallion novel writings more lively and realistic. He had a solid knowledge on some of the xiao jiu jiu [3] stuff, okay! Even if he was a little bit stiff when he actually implemented the plan, but it couldn’t be helped since he had an emotionless face. The greatest advantage of having an emotionless face was that, no matter whether you were feeling difficult, embarrassed, awkward, dissatisfied or happy, no one was able to know your emotions just by looking at you. An emotionless face was definitely the best tool to gain cool points!
And so, Gu Bai sat high above the guests and maintained his emotionless face. He took advantage of the toasting and secretly adjusted his posture. Then, the only thing he did, drank slowly. He was definitely not, going to grab a pair of chopsticks to eat food with his own hands. This wasn’t a joke, no matter how hungry he felt, he must endure it! How could a noble, cold and glamorous City Governor enjoy food from the Human Realm, in front of his guests? That was way too low class! It was definitely harmful to his image!
After realizing Tian Du Cheng’s City Governor always kept his senses and calmness, the old foxes that sat below Gu Bai, began to think, this new City Governor wasn’t like an inexperienced young man at all. His anger and happiness weren’t being displayed on his face at all! And so they started interacting and toasting each other. Even if they had never met each other before, the way they interacted with each other, made them look as if they’d already known each other for a long time, as if they’d all crawled out from the belly of the same mother. After everyone watched a round of dancing and singing performances, drank a few rounds of wine, and built connections, finally, those with ill intentions begun acting.
Out of those people, a middle-aged man, who looked like the Master of a Big Family, and sat near the rear of the Main Hall, stood up. The man had a really muscular body, he looked like an honest and straightforward man, but the words he spoke weren’t that honest and straightforward. “The City Governor accomplished such amazing achievements at a young age, this made all of us adore you. I have three children who also adore the City Governor a lot and, for this reason, they would like to perform their arts for the City Governor, on City Governor’s birthday banquet, to express their feelings. I ask the City Governor to give them an opportunity.”
Gu Bai looked at him emotionlessly. Who was this person…? I don’t know him. Then, he looked at the female servant by his side. The one that held a zither in her hands, stepped forward and spoke, “then please ask them to come up to the stage.” The middle-aged man immediately smiled and knocked on a piece of wushu equipment. No one heard any reaction, but the next moment, they heard distant footsteps coming from outside of the banquet venue, followed by an extremely pleasant, female voice.
The voice was extremely pleasant to listen to, it was clear, melodious and full of a young girl’s admiration. The background music was very gentle and light, it didn’t overpower the vocals at all. In fact, it accentuated how lovely the girl’s voice was.
When the song was about to end, and the girl’s voice was fading, the sound of a zither soared. Suddenly, the sounds of sleeves flapping appeared out of nowhere and was followed by the sound of blades, piercing through the air. From the soft and elegant melody just then, to the bold and vigorous melody now, the two melodies transited seamlessly.
In everyone’s eyes, they saw two short, young men, one on the right and one on the left, playing a zither, with their heads bowed down. And in between the young men, was a beautiful young girl, who began dancing briskly, with a sad but also joyful expression, which was totally eye-catching. The performance attracted a lot of guests’ attention, and of course, they all displayed a reasonable amount of appreciation on their face. However, to Gu Bai, who was sitting on the highest platform, all he felt was complete darkness. What the fuck?! Why was it her again?!
