The wall that was built with red bricks, was about three meters high and looked a bit run down, one could clearly see it had been built a long time ago. This was a very ancient Wu Zhen 1, named the “Town of the Blue Goats”.
A child stood in front of a door, wearing clothing made of blue cloth, that looked almost new and not yet ragged. The child’s little face was a bit dark and unappealing, only the pair of black eyes appeared to have a trace of some liveliness.
At that moment in time, as he swiped off a handful of sweat, he stood looking at the three ancient script characters of “Town of Blue Goats” that were written on the stone door.
“I finally arrived.” The child sighed, and massaged his tiny calf, “It’s really so far away, I’m totally worn out…”
After a short rest, he lifted his feet and entered the town. The women who were sweeping the ground near him, lifted their heads and gave him a brief glance, then quickly continued their work.

Such a child…there were plenty of them every day, entering and exiting the town. Maybe they came here to play, maybe they came to find a teacher to teach them Wushu, or maybe, they just came to sell small trinkets that could contribute to their family’s living expenses. All of them were just ordinary children from the countryside. There wasn’t really anything noteworthy.
The child ran quickly using small steps, he followed the limestone pathway in the town all the way till the end. After reaching the other side of the town, the child slowed down and stopped.
Once he had caught his breath, he continued walking in the same direction, leaving the town, he followed the road until he arrived at a hillside. It was at this moment that he finally felt relieved, “This is the same as the ones in my memory.”
Undoubtedly, this child was none other than the stallion novel writer, Gu Bai, who had transmigrated into the poor cannon fodder. The town that he arrived at, was the place where Qi Guan Rui, the protagonist of his book, was born. The Qi Guan Family just happened to be the largest and most powerful family in the town.
But make no mistake, Gu Bai wasn’t here to look for the protagonist. If the novel had followed the original plot, which was the story of a moral, smart and healthy young man saving the world, then he would’ve immediately tried to become the protagonist’s good buddy during their childhood. After they grew up, he would’ve become the protagonist’s good brother and they may even have formed a relationship where they’d go through thick and thin together, brave through life and death. In the end, under the blessing of the protagonist’s luck, not to mention, having his arms filled with beauties from around the world, he could at least become a rich and idle person, enjoying the rest of his life. But the main point was, he changed the plot!
The current protagonist suffered from much abuse at a young age. He was, then, ascended into heaven from hell, returned to hell before ascending once again, back into heaven. His personality would undoubtedly become twisted after going through such torment…twice.
Ah? You asked why don’t I go and save the protagonist while he was still in his childhood?
Dear, unless Gu Bai adopted the protagonist and spent all his energy and time raising him and stayed alert and prepared all the time to correct the way he thought…things were definitely not going to work!
Also, within the Tian Du Cheng where Gu Bai reside, there would only be more conflict and chaos, compared to the outside world.
Even with the identity of a child of a concubine, Qi Guan Rui was still only being bullied within his family. If Gu Bai took him away, who knows what situation a countryside boy that’s beloved by a young master of a high-status family would fall into whilst the young master was training in seclusion? He would only find himself in an even more miserable situation than if he’d stayed with his own family.
And if Gu Bai was to take Qi Guan Rui along with him when he went to train in seclusion, regardless of his willingness, his dad would definitely not have agreed to let an outsider peek at the martial art that had been passed down by their family’s ancestors.
And so, things like wholeheartedly raising Qi Guan Rui was also impossible… No matter how hard one thought, this was definitely not a viable option.
Not to mention that the protagonist in the original plot still managed to grow into a moral, healthy and smart youngster after enduring all sorts of torments, but in the new plot, the protagonist grew into a psycho after enduring all sorts of torments. It was like two different people developing totally opposite personalities in the same growing environment. This was a kind of disparity caused by abominable growing environments. If the protagonist in the original plot was the positive side, then the protagonist in the new plot was the negative side. If different plants sprouted in the same pile of soil, then it would only mean that the seeds, originally had different genes and so the induced seedlings were different.
Just like Harry Potter and the Dark Lord, the latter killed his uncle at the age of sixteen. Although the former was also in great danger at the age of sixteen, he was killing monsters and dating at the same time, things couldn’t get any smoother! When the Dark Lord went mad, he dared to slice himself into pieces, but when the protagonist in the new plot went mad, he fucking ate people QAQ
Gu Bai must admit that he’s terrified. Before he transmigrated, he was just an otaku 2, dependent on writing novels to make a living. Then one day, he suddenly fell into this world, it was impossible for him to have the courage to deal with the protagonist with such settings. He doesn’t even know what consequences the protagonist would face if he was to interfere with the protagonist’s plotted life.
Therefore, he’d rather hide far away from the protagonist, while taking the training seriously and secretly dreaming about the breathtaking and magnificent life of the protagonist. He’d probably be long dead by the time the protagonist’s going to sacrifice all living creatures in the world, does he need to worry about what will happen to his corpse at that time?
And so, the real reason that drove Gu Bai to came to this place was to steal an opportunity that belonged to the protagonist, an opportunity that’d be like the icing on the cake if the protagonist took the opportunity, but no harm would be caused if the protagonist didn’t have the opportunity. However, to Gu Bai’s Hu Yuan Wu Ti, this opportunity was of the utmost importance.
One must say that regardless of how much Gu Bai feared the protagonist, he still had a “father-like” mentality or mindset towards the protagonist. He, an otaku2, who wanted only to live the rest of his life peacefully at Tian Du Cheng, could only pick an opportunity that benefited himself without dis-benefiting his “son”. The rest of the good things on the planet… were still his son’s belongings – humph, humph.
Gu Bai wildly dreamed about the future for a while, then he followed the illustrations in his memory and marched forward, with his little legs, into the grove on the hillside’s yang mian 3.
A mountain range lay beyond the grove, and what he was looking for, lay within this mountain range.
Five days later…
Gu Bai was leaning on a tree and his stomach was rumbling incessantly. He poked at the fire in front of him with a scowl on his face and flipped over the wild mushroom skewer. Then he grabbed the skewer and furiously took a bite, the next moment, he sent the skewer flying.
“Hot! Hot! Hot!!!” he hurriedly pinched his ears with his fingers and stomped his feet for a long while, before he sat down again with a frustrated look.
He was blaming himself for not writing the whereabouts of the opportunity in greater detail, he had only briefly mentioned the whereabouts, which, if summarized, looks something like “There’s a forest behind the town, behind the forest there’s a mountain. The protagonist has recklessly and blindly run from the danger that he met. He goes on to randomly grab stuff to eat with his hands when he can no longer withstand the hunger.” He didn’t even write the exact location. In the end, he spent days searching in the mountains, but the opportunity was nowhere to be found. This left him feeling really discontent.
After he, Gu Bai, transmigrated into this world, he quickly processed the memories of the original owner of his body and then immediately began planning.
Because he was at a young age and the original owner was also a solitary person, people categorized him as a young master that was easily cared for, so he was given a lot of freedom. But after sneaking out of the city this time, the city’s security would definitely be more stringent, and he’d no longer be able to leave the city before becoming an adult. This was the reason why he took this journey seriously – speaking shamelessly and saying embarrassing things. It wasn’t hard for him to avoid his servants, what was hard for him, was leaving the City Governor’s Palace without anyone noticing, which he achieved by resorting to crawling through a dog hole! He wanted to express that it was a blessing to him that the City Governor’s Palace had a dog hole that was big enough to let a child pass through…
The “Blood Essence Lingzhi Mushroom”, a wondrous creation of heaven and earth 4, was the only reason he decided to go through all the trouble and endured all the suffering. This was the first golden finger the protagonist encountered in the novel. After he consumed the mushroom, he was no longer hungry, and he received a benefit not long after.
However, the Blood Essence Lingzhi Mushroom can’t just be consumed by anyone who wanted to consume it. The protagonist’s body was the Dao Tian Wu Ti and he also had the ancient bloodline of Tun Tian Xuan Mang of the primeval beast; his body was already strong. After the consumption, his meridian line further expanded and his muscles strengthened. Not to mention, his body didn’t explode immediately upon consumption, even the unseen injuries that were deeply rooted within his body after his Dao Tian Wu Ti was destroyed were healed, raising his overall strength to another level.
But even with the buffs from the lingzhi mushroom, the protagonist still failed to escape from assassination. He was struck and fell off a cliff. The moment he was about to die, his Xuan Mang bloodline awakened, which immediately made his body stronger than before and at the same time, gained limitless strength and obtained the incredibly powerful ability of engulfment!
Later on, the protagonist endured humiliations, hid his talent and kept a low profile. What he was actually doing throughout this period of time, was polishing his body and adjusting his body conditions. His powers quickly recovered to what they had been. He then decided to stop tolerating the people that had humiliated him. On the wedding day of his former fiancée and her partner (Gu Bai felt really pressured), he invaded the venue and devoured Zhi Che Shu Bai first, and proceeded to accroach all of his Hun Yuan Wu Ti essences.
As a matter of fact, Hun Yuan Wu Ti had a weak point, which its owner only encountered in its late developmental stage. The Blood Essence Lingzhi Mushroom just happened to be the type of wondrous creation of heaven and earth that could resolve the weak point. When the protagonist encountered the problem, the mushroom almost immediately remedied the weak point, and so the protagonist was able to tide the crisis over.
And so, Gu Bai resolved to find the Blood Essence Lingzhi Mushroom at all cost, so he wouldn’t get into any trouble in the future. After he’s found the mushroom, he’s definitely going to stay inside Tian Du Cheng all the time. Until his power reached a certain level, he wouldn’t step out of the City Governor’s Palace, not one single step!
After taking a short break, Gu Bai patted his belly which was half full and decided to continue searching for the lingzhi mushroom. He had returned to the grove and was planning to re-climb the hillside in a moment. With eyes that were filled with critical thoughts, he once again observed the landscape. Trying to deduce the scene he had written within the book.
No matter how difficult it was going to be, he’d never leave before he found the lingzhi mushroom!
He extinguished the fire with a kick, then he stood up and walked towards the hillside.
The mountain range behind the Town of the Blue Goats expanded across a hundred miles. It didn’t have any tall mountain peaks, but if one glanced at it they’d think of a long snake, making the mountain range appear to be quite imposing.
Although some wild creatures resided in the mountains, they were all just ordinary duan ti qi 5 beasts. Under normal circumstances, any Wu Zhe beyond rank 2 could’ve dealt with those beasts. Maybe it was because of Zhi Che Shu Bai’s potential, whose body had been possessed by Gu Bai, was way too great, he was already a rank 5 Wu Zhe even though he’d never taken the training seriously. But now, all of his gifts were given freely to Gu Bai. However, since both Zhi Che Shu Bai and Gu Bai were otaku, they lacked battle experience. If they really did encounter wild beasts, they would’ve only been able to use those powers for escaping.
Gu Bai looked at the surroundings, he was actually recalling all the paths that the protagonist might take in the future. As a writer, the only thing that was useful was his creativity. Just as he was focusing on recalling his memories, he suddenly heard a series of noises. Gu Bai was shocked, he immediately hid behind a tree, carefully, he snuck his head out to take a peek at where the noise was coming from.
He saw a child running forward with all of his strength. The child’s hair was covering his face and he seemed really panicked. Another child, wearing silk clothing and looking slightly older than the running child, was chasing after him, along with a few other burly looking youngsters, who obviously looked like they had practiced Wushu before. All of the chasers were either swearing or cursing, making them look incredibly fierce.
The child ran really fast, but unfortunately, just as he reached the bottom of the hillside, he was tripped up by a rock. The chasers quickly surrounded him. The child with silk clothing weighted the other piece of rock he was holding and threw it towards the child’s leg.
The child reacted very quickly; he nimbly withdrew his leg. Plop — the rock missed, it landed right beside the child’s leg. The child with silk clothing raged, he pointed his fingers at the child and yelled, “bash him up!”
