Tondemo Skill â 479.1 â Idle Talk: What Happened to Elland⌠(Bonus Chapter)
Doranâs Guild Masterâs office was strangely silent.
The only thing that could be heard was the scratching of quills on documents, as well as the sound of papers being flipped over.
In the midst of the quill scratching and paper flipping sounds, the modest scrape of a chair being pushed back was unusually loud.
âWhere are you going, Elland?â
The person who said this was the special Elvish supervisor sent by the Royal Capital Adventurerâs Guild to monitor a certain Elvish Guild Master. Supervisor Moira-sama.
âT-to the t-toiletâŚâ
âHm~~ didnât you just go about half an hour ago? Ah, apologies, age must be catching up to you. Even Elves suffer from age-related health issues, eh?â
ââŚI-I-I think Iâm fine after all!â
Elland flinched from Moiraâs sharp gaze and quickly scooted his chair back in place.
âSince youâre fine, keep working. If you donât have to go at all, donât keep moving around. Are you trying to test my patience?â
âN-no! I mean, yes! I mean, no! Not testingâŚâ
Elland unhappily picked up his quill again, absolute defeat smothered his entire frame.
Knock knockâ
âItâs Ugor, may I come in?â
âEnter.â
The door opened with a quiet squeak and in came Vice Guild Master Ugor.
âThank you for your hard work, Moira-sama. I do hope our Guild Master did not give you any trouble?â
âHaaahh⌠I must commend you for your patience. It must have been hard on you, having to put up with this incontinent fellow who has to visit the bathroom every hour even in my presence.â
Veins suddenly popped up on Ugorâs forehead.
âIdiot Master, what is the meaning of this?â
âEh? No, that is, I mean, umâŚâ Elland quickly looked away, unable to face Ugor as sweat rained down his forehead.
âItâs fine, this is just the first day,â came Moiraâs leisurely voice.
Elland breathed a sigh of relief from the unexpected support from Moira.
Unfortunately, the supportive remark was followed by a speculative frown on her beautiful face as she continued, âTo be honest, when I first heard about this personâs craziness, I thought it was all an exaggeration. Surely such an idiot couldnât exist?â
Elland curled up in his seat like a frog being stared at by a snake. Moiraâs eyes were like the gaze of a lazy snake, wondering if it was worth her time to take a bite out of this frog or just continue to laze in the sun.
âIt is most fascinating and unfortunate to find out that this kind of person really does exist. Even more so since this embarrassing fellow is of the race as me, and a holder of the most important Guild Master position. A position which he abandoned without qualms by the way~â
Elland curled up even more at every word.
As someone who takes pride in her work and position, Moira considered Ellandâs terrible behaviour as a personal affront.
âI have long since retired, but, it looks like I may have to return to work. This certainly looks like itâs going to be a long-term job. Eh, since I have nothing better to do anyway, it really doesnât matter how long this job lastsâŚâ
âTh-thatâsâŚâ Ellandâs wail of despair filled the room.
Ignoring his boss with practised ease, Ugor said sincerely, âApologies for the inconvenience, Moira-sama. We thank you for your kind assistance.â
âJust leave it to me. I shall train this useless trash into something useful,â she said lazily.
âOoh, Iâll leave it to your capable hands!â
Meanwhile, Elland was staring at nothing as his life was being discussed by these two workaholic tyrants.
From that day onwards, the once cheerful and lively Guild Master of Doran was often seen in a washed-out stateâŚ
[Gumihou: Okay, I am maybe a little sorry for him.]
