Scarlet Rose [ABO] â What Happens When the Villain Dies at the Beginning? (23)
The bullet hit Stevenâs shoulder. The injury wasnât life-threatening, but deterrence of the previous four shots had already scared the cowardly Steven out of his wits.
Everyone saw that there was a patch of wetness on Stevenâs pants.
After watching such a great play, the ministers shook their heads and scoffed at Stevenâs situation.
An Alpha rendered witless from a couple of empty gunshots, it was simply ridiculous!
How could such a weak and cowardly person inherit the throne and rule an empire!
âPayne! How dare you! You actually publicly shot someone!â Seeing that his plan failed, Neptune was too lazy to continue acting and stood up to shout, âCall the guards in!â
Gu Zhong didnât move. Not sensing any action, Neptune angrily turned to Gu Zhong, âI said to call the guards in, are you deaf?â
âYour Majesty, I heard you.â
âThen what are you still doing here!â
Gu Zhong calmly stated. âThe Imperial guards are like myself, loyal only to the Empire and the Emperor.â
Neptuneâs expression turned sour. âI am the Emperor!â
Gu Zhong lifted his chin and smiled scornfully. âI am referring to the legitimate ruler, not an usurper.â
Neptune angrily kicked a chair, his eyes shooting fire. âYou dare betray me?!â
âYour Majesty!â Prime Minister Lu stood up and said, âI have seen everything that happened just now. Since his Highness Payne is so certain about his claims, so much so to bet his life on them, there must be something we donât know about the former rulerâs death. Please let the maid finish.â
âNo need!â Cassia wiped away the tears on her face. Standing up, she proudly lifted her chin. âAsk me whatever you want.â
Neptune was shocked and grabbed her arm, âCassia, even youâre going to betray me?â
Suddenly, he felt a burning sensation from his internal organs. A sweet scent appeared in his throat and a drop of blood slowly trickled from the corner of his mouth.
Neptune immediately understood what was going on. He covered his heart and pointed at the wine on the table, looking incredulously at Cassia, âYou poisoned the wine?!â
When he said that, all the ministers felt danger and hurriedly put down any wine they were having, afraid that they would also be poisoned.
âYes, the sins happened because of me, so I should be the one to end it.â Cassiaâs voice was sad and tired. âI couldnât stop you from harming the former ruler, but I will not stand by and do nothing as you hurt my child. Weâve committed many unforgivable crimes, and Iâve always felt guilty, unable to sleep at night. Now, I can finally free myself.â
Neptune widened his eyes, still having something to say, but the blood from his throat made it impossible.
At last, Neptune fell heavily onto the table, his eyes wide open as he left the world unwillingly.
With tears in her eyes, Cassia leaned down and kissed her belovedâs face. Suddenly, blood appeared in the corners of her mouth and she powerlessly fell down as well.
âMother!â Seeing this, Payne immediately went up to hold his mother, âHold on! Iâll send for a doctor right away!â
Cassia weakly shook her head. âItâs too late. I used the most potent poison, no one can save me.â
Payneâs eyes reddened. âWhy? Why did you have to do this?â
Cassia smiled slightly. âI couldnât watch the two people I love the most kill each other. No matter who wins, I wouldnât be able to live. I donât want to continue living in guilt. Iâm a sinner. If it wasnât for me, Neptune wouldnât have killed your father, so now Iâve killed him. The cause of all these mistakes was me, so just let me take my sins to the afterlife and join them in atonement.â
âNo . . . Thatâs not true, youâre the best mother in the world . . .â Payneâs heart was full of pain and he couldnât say a thing.
Cassia lifted her hand with difficulty, caressing Payneâs face for the last time as she said weakly, âChild, you chose this path, so you have to bravely walk down it. But remember . . . once you step onto the throne, you canât trust anyone . . . other than yourself . . .â
The great farce finally came to an end. Of the entire royal family, the Emperor and Empress died from poison and the second prince became mad from fright. When word of this was spread out, the rumours would only embellish the matter.
It was very likely for it to develop into something like a story of a ruthless prince who murdered his mother and stepfather, drove his brother crazy, and ascended the throne with the blood of his family on his hands.
But no matter what, Payne succeeded in his revenge and got the throne. Lu Shijin was very happy to see this outcome.
Lu Shijin, still disguised as Gu Zhong, quietly slipped out as the banquet hall fell into a mess.
âConvenience store, convenience store.â Lu Shijin boarded Gu Zhongâs aircraft and returned to his original appearance. âHowâre the two progress bars?â
âAfter you changed the plot, the completion is at 70% and audience satisfaction is 50%.â
Lu Shijin was surprised, âHowâs it so little? Why? Wasnât the prince taking revenge very satisfying? Does the audience not appreciate that?â
711 opened the screen, âYou can see yourself.â
Lu Shijin seriously looked at the bullet screen.
ăTBH, isnât this actressâ acting a bit overboard? How can she still say so much after being poisoned?ă
ăDonât think I canât tell, this is just another version of Hamlet. The only thing thatâs different is that the prince doesnât die here.ă
ăCanât the screenwriter think of something new? Iâm so tired of these same plots.ă
ăI think it would be better if the main character also died, preferably more tragically.ă
??? Do these people want more characters to die? Is the audience filled with demons?
