069 â Shadows Looming Ark #5
At that moment, the Draco Family zombies began to attack us. They were very fast and agile, not like normal zombies.
âYou want to find the professor whoâs not showing her face here?â
Elga wielded the giant halberd and cut the bodies of the Draco Family zombies in half. Each time her giant ax swung, arms and legs would fly in all directions, scattering fragments of blood and flesh.
Aleister muttered something to Elga who shouted so confidently.
At the same time, the blue flame that fluttered in his hand burned even bigger. Whatever it was, it didnât look very good.
But that movement came to a stand still.
âDeath is the beginning, not the end, not the rest.â
It was probably because what Mirna started doing, chanting something like a prayer, was working.
âAkin to serpents and dragons shedding their skins and scales, it is but the start to a new spiral of life. As saidââ
It was clear that she was trying to regain her father.
âThis will never end! Anything is good, so do it quickly!â
Elga was busy dealing with the zombies coming from all directions.
âDo not be afraid of treading the valley of gloomy death. I will seize the necks of the demons harming youâŚ.â
Mirna was also busy trying to control her father.
Both women seemed very busy with their work.
That being the case, I was the only one who could find Professor Balan who was controlling the undead from somewhere.
As far as I knew, a necromancer must keep a certain distance from their minions.
If they got too far away from them, theyâd lose control, and if they were too close, there was no point in bringing minions. They might as well fight personally.
That meant Professor Balan was hiding somewhere in this darkness.
Should I just shout out loud?
âProfessor Balan, show yourself!â
âFufufuu, how pathetic. Thereâs no point in resisting brats.
A gloomy voice echoed through the huge space.
Then someone gradually appeared. It was Professor Balan wearing a black robe.
She held a cross-shaped dagger and a long staff in each hand, and wrapped a thick chain of some sort around her neck like a necklace.
âWell, I showed myself. What are you going to do now?â
⌠What, did that really work?
âIt is no use resisting. Unnecessary. In vain. Even if you try your best, the barrier is destined to fall. By then, the malice beyond that has been once turned away will engulf the world.â
Unlike her stuttering during lectures, Professor Balan was now speaking fluently. Elga chided.
âBarrier? Why are you talking about barriers out of the blue? You were that crazy necromancer, werenât you?â
Elga frowned in incomprehension, but I understood it differently.
I remembered the second part of the novel, which came after Airaâs execution, where the barrier fell.
It was the story of a warrior training institution, Ark, fighting as the last bastion to stop the collapse of the northern wall and the dark forces from coming.
But that wouldnât happen.
Unless Aira got executed according to the original storyline, the barrier would not fall. This was the setting.
âProfessor Balan! Surrender and return to me my possessions!â
Though, the professor merely jeered at her.
âProfessor Balan? There is no such idioâ anymore. Only an empty husk remains. She resisted quite a bit, but now sheâs nothing but a shell!â
âAre you implying that Professor Balan is dead?â
âNot exactly. Now, what do we have here? Dracoâs halfpenny, who canât even use necromancy, and the daughter of the Lionessâ who canât wield her ancestorâs relicâŚ.â
Professor Balanâs red eyes turned to me.
âIâm Theo Gospel. I attended the professorâs lecture, donât you remember?â
âI didnât know there was a Nymph? Well, now I know. A trivial and useless fairy.â
âHeh heh, you canât defeat me anyway. I am the 4th seat of Demon King Solomon and the great necromancy spell, Gamigin.â
Mirna shouted in surprise while Elga asked.
âIt is the magic of Demon King Solomon! The four great magics that are said to have a will of their ownâŚ. Itâs one of them!â
âWhat do you mean? Demon King Solomon is dead. Wouldnât all the spells he left behind be gone by now?â
Elga said as she leisurely mutilated an undead.
By this point, Elga had chopped down numerous Draco Family undead, leaving them all mangled on the ground.
However, Aleister, a powerful necromancer, and Professor Balan, who identified herself as Gamigin, were still here.
If they casted their spells again, the dead would continue to rise back. That was how a fight with a necromancer went.
But Professor Balaan, no, Gamigin didnât seem so eager to take us down right away.
âDemon king Solomon is dead? Angmarâs blood has been cut off? How funny. Angmar is alive. My will remaining is proof.â
Elga growled like she had nothing to hear. But Mirnaâs face was so pale that it looked very blue.
âMirna Draco, you would know. Your family knew that Angmar was alive somewhere.â
â⌠What? What does that mean!?â
Elga asked, as if she was hearing an unbelievable story. Gamigin smiled at her.
âThe Draco Family knew that Angmarâs will never ceased. If you donât trust me, just ask them. âCause they know better than I do. Heh heh.â
âHey, what did that basâ ard mean!?â
Elga was in great anger. Her blood-stained face was full of rage, embarrassment and distrust.
I could see that this was the goal of that Gamigin. To drive a wedge between Elga and Mirna.
But the story that came out of his mouth was very interesting.
Angmarâs will was alive?
⌠Werenât they talking about me?
Because the System said I was the only Angmar survivor.
But the Draco Family knew of my existence
No, it didnât seem like that at all.
âExplain, quickly! Angmar is alive and you hid it? Do you not know what this means?â
Elga grabbed Mirnaâs collar.
Mirna quietly murmured, without any resistance, as if something inevitable had finally come.
â⌠Thereâs no point in lying anymore. Itâs true. Angmar is alive. To be precise, itâs the bloodline of the Demon King thatâs aliveâŚ. Like a forbidden legacyâŚ.â
