Chapter 16 - Falling asleep during the phone call

Jiang Huan was convinced that his impromptu remedy was very effective.
When he saw that the top of the chat box had changed to “The other party is typing”, he adjusted to a comfortable sitting position and tossed aside the book that he had used as a pretence and now looked like an eyesore.
[Chu Tangtang: Can I call you?]
Jiang Huan’s dark eyes narrowed a little, his throat became dry. He tugged at his collar, hesitating for a few seconds, before typing out the word “alright”.
Once Chu Tangtang received his permission, she immediately leapt to dial the voice call.
“You wanted to speak to me?” The boy’s unmistakable voice burrowed into her ears through the microphone.
She flopped down on the soft pillow, one hand clutching the corner: “Well, I couldn’t sleep.
Jiang Huan was silent for a few seconds, helpless: “What’s the use of calling me if you can’t sleep?”
“Because I want to hear your voice, I always feel good when I hear your voice, although there’s no basis …” She felt guilty when she said this.
But she did think so in her heart, and hence she rashly requested a phone call.
She wanted to hear Jiang Huan’s voice, so she said that.
After her words, only the faint sound of breathing came from her.
Chu Tangtang knew what she had just said was outrageous. She opened her mouth and wanted to say something.
“Chu Tangtang.” Jiang Huan interrupted her and called her name helplessly.
The girl’s name seemed to be mixed with honey. When he read it gently, her heart flooded with sweetness.
“Hmm?”
He was angry, unable to find his inner peace, not knowing what tone of voice to use was appropriate. He tried bluffing and sternly admonishing, “Don’t act coquettishly.”
Then after that, Jiang Huan did not give her a chance to rebut and took advantage of her bewilderment to digress, so much so that she missed the opportunity to accuse Jiang Huan of making things up out of thin air and mislabeling.
As they chatted, drowsiness grew, she replied with increasingly longer intervals, and her voice became smaller and smaller. In the end, she couldn’t hear what Jiang Huan said, so she hummed twice in a perfunctory manner.
The other end of the phone also became quiet. She fell asleep.
The alarm clock buzzed, and Chu Tangtang’s head poked out from under the covers, her eyes open with a slit.
The difficult-to-get-up person slowly switched off the alarm clock and planned to stay in bed for another five minutes.
However, in the next second, she abruptly opened her eyes and picked up her phone again, thanks to the charging cable she plugged in before she fall asleep the phone that had been connected to the call overnight, still had power.
She blinked, holding the phone in a daze, a few seconds later, she leaned closer to the microphone and called out, “Jiang Huan.”
As if she had found something amusing, she amplified her voice some more and called out to him happily.
“Jiang Huan, Jiang Huan …”
It was like she can’t get tired of shouting.
She giggled as she remembered last night and quickly wrinkled her nose again, “When did I act like a spoiled brat?”
“Now,” the boy’s low, slightly muffled voice suddenly rang out, scaring Chu Tangtang into squeaking and trying to try her presence.
Jiang Huan continued: “Why are you shouting to call out my soul early in the morning?”
Suddenly, her cheeks reddened and she said, “Why didn’t you answer when you woke up.”
Jiang Huan snorted, his voice lazy: “Of course, it’s to see what else you’re planning to say?”
Her eyes widened slightly, and then she revealed a slightly chagrined expression, “You’re too cunning.”
“… I can’t believe you said that.”
She could hear the helplessness in Jiang Huan’s tone and was a bit confused, “I can’t say that?”
“Yeah,” Jiang Huan smiled.
It was clear that the most cunning person was her.
