The reason why Stupid Thing’s leading single was popular was not only due to the original writing; the composition and lyrics that occurred later were more effective. Moreover, the fact that it exploded in popularity cannot be isolated from the cumulated popularity of the group since their previous album and Huixing’s effort in branding and marketing the album.
Wang Chao was willing to speak up for his classmate not just because ID owed him anything in particular, but because he empathized with him. Not that this was a big deal either.
The source of his empathy was his personal experience.
“I was in a band when I first went to college. I didn’t find out until later that others in the band looked down on me. They thought I was an idiot and only included me because I had money. So, we had a fallout, and I quit. Those shameless bastards then went on to perform the song that I wrote at the campus music festival, and they didn’t even credit me.” He’s only mentioned that he was part of a band in the past but never brought this particular incident up. Because there’s nothing cool about this.
Xie Zhuxing frowned. “What happened next?” He asked.
“There’s no ‘next,’ we cut off all contact,” Wang Chao responded.
Xie Zhuxing wanted to ask how he forgave them this easily, but then he realized, isn’t this the type of person he is? He acts so tough every day, but when it comes to doing anything with tangible harm to others, he’s never done any. He’s got a sharp tongue, but his heart cannot be softer.
“That type of people won’t go far anyways. What about the song? You worked so hard to write it, why didn’t you ask for it back?” He asked.
“That song wasn’t that good, and I didn’t care about it much anyways. Also, at that time, I didn’t even want to pursue music anymore. What’s the point of asking for it back? Incubate it until it hatches?” Wang Chao said.
He said it as though he didn’t care, but his eyes were lowered, and all the emotions were hidden beneath his eyelids and lashes. It’s not that he didn’t care.
Xie Zhuxing, “
Do you still want to fuck?”
Wang Chao raised his head.
Xie Zhuxing, “Guess I will put on my clothes then.”
Wang Chao hurriedly tugged on his shirt and said, “Who said I didn’t want to?”
Their sexual dynamic is rather unique.
Wang Chao is very impatient, and Xie Zhuxing doesn’t have much patience either. How can he slow down when Wang Chao is moaning for him to stop the itch inside him? The plowing starts right away. Only until the main act is wrapped up that they’d kiss and caress each other. Compared to the usual way, their foreplay and main act are always switched.
Xie Zhuxing still has the original version of the song Wang Chao wrote a while ago on his phone. He had played it once as background music when they had sex. He thought it was great and wanted to play it again next time. But Wang Chao was insistent on stopping him no matter what he said because he was sincerely worried that this song will become their aphrodisiac. He’s pretty satisfied with this song, and he will not allow himself to get a boner whenever this song plays.
When they were done today, they kissed each other in an embrace. Xie Zhuxing took out his phone and tapped to play that song before bending down to kiss him. Very, very gentle.
Wang Chao didn’t react to it. This type of intimacy is not what he prefers, but he can tolerate it if it’s once or twice.
Xie Zhuxing lay beside him and stroked his earlobe. “This song’s amazing.”
Wang Chao couldn’t resist the grin from forming on his face.
Xie Zhuxing continued, “You’re really talented.”
Wang Chao, “
”
He tilted his head and looked at Xie Zhuxing with confusion and shock written all over his face. “Are you lying to me?”
Xie Zhuxing laughed, “Do you not even believe in compliments?”
Wang Chao responded, “No one’s ever said I was talented. Not even my mother would speak such obvious lie.”
This sounds like a joke, but Xie Zhuxing knows it’s real. This idiot may look exceedingly arrogant on the outside, but he’s not a very confident person on the inside.
They didn’t continue this conversation. Instead, they showered and ordered takeout. While eating, they randomly selected a popular variety show, laughing as they watched.
This is the show that Yuan Rui regularly appears in. He’s really funny in the program – the majority of the jokes and memes come from him. Everything he does is silly and cute, and his appearance is pleasing to the eyes. No wonder he became popular so quickly.
Wang Chao remembered what Zheng Qiuyang said to him – “My partner is super smart” – and thought he probably doesn’t act like this in real life. It’s a persona he wore for the show.
It’s time for bed. They turned off the lights and lay down.
Wang Chao kicked Xie Zhuxing under the blanket.
Xie Zhuxing thought he wanted to go for another round. “What’s up?” He asked.
Wang Chao hummed and hawed for a while before asking, “You really, really love me, right?”
Xie Zhuxing, “
” Is he crazy, why’s he asking him this all of a sudden?
Wang Chao said, “Everyone says ‘Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.’ If you don’t really, really love me, how would you find me talented?”
Xie Zhuxing didn’t know how to respond.
Wang Chao grinned and stroked his face, “Look at how flushed your face is. Why are you embarassed to admit it? For one, I really, really love you. That’s why I think you’re super talented. You dance well, look handsome, and has talent for acting. You will definitely succeed in the future and become
a superstar!”
Xie Zhuxing couldn’t help but let out a chuckle.
Wang Chao suddenly slapped the mattress and complained, “Why couldn’t our cp name be ‘Superstar’? So much better than the “Hua Wang” bs. At least the antis would stop mentioning us as the they are so fucking annoying.”
