The wall of cabinets was two stories tall. It was enough to hold dozens of ghost tools of different sizes.
However, despite such a large wall filled with cabinets, the other places on the first floor of the shop didn’t lack shelves.
The shop was now twice as big and held a full arc-shaped counter. There was also a row of similar arc-shaped shelves on the outside of the counter where the merchandise that was originally on the first shelf was now placed.
The large cabinet that was originally behind the counter had now changed to a row of low cabinets along the wall. Much like the counter, the cabinet had a white marbled surface with a slight texture.
Just above the back wall, there was a gold-lacquered wooden plaque with the four characters ‘An Yu Yi Yu’ written in strong and flowing calligraphy.
Additionally, the other places in the shop were no longer empty. There were many shelves.
It’s just that the shelves weren’t layered anymore. They had become white wooden shelves with glass doors outside for single items, just like those in a museum.
There were 20 of those cabinets neatly and evenly arranged on the first floor of the shop. The transparent barrier was as clear as crystal and reflected the new crystalline chandeliers in the store. They were magnificent.
Just as Su Zimo was about to continue looking around his brand new shop, a familiar voice rang inside–
[Master, welcome back to An Yu Yi Yu. The intelligent navigation system Ayuyuyu has been activated again. Thank you for the name, Ayuyuyu likes it. Congratulations to the owner for upgrading the shop to Level 2. Ayuyuyu can not only guide the owner to manage the store, but also guide guests to complete transactions while the owner is busy!]
The intelligent navigation system which had disappeared due to insufficient energy had finally returned.
The voice still came from behind the counter. Su Zimo looked for the voice and turned behind the counter, finding that the old lagging computer had become an all-in-one setup with a light, thin display of nearly 30 inches.
There were many more things on the computer interface, like chat software and the internet. Although he didn’t know which network the shop was connected to, Ghost Umbrella could apparently use the computer to learn DIY recipes online.
Of course, the original software used to view the shop innformation was still on the desktop. After opening it, the layout and font looked much more refined, and the information hadn’t changed much.
[Shop: An Yu Yi Yu (Ayuyuyu)]
[Rank: Level 2]
[Owner: Su Zimo]
[Life Savings: 1399 days (37)]
[No Star Products: 31; One Star Products: 1; Two Star Products: 3]
[Ghosts in the Shop: Ghost Umbrella, Peng Peng, Zhang Xiaoqing]
[Shop Upgrade Progress: 67/10000]
[Shouhua: 2 (For Sale, Not Available to Store Members)]
Without noticing, the original word for ‘owner’ in front of Su Zimo’s name had become a different word for ‘owner.’ 1
As he looked up, Su Zimo found that there was an extra marble countertop with a lot of contract paper, and it was accompanied by a new metal-trimmed feather pen.
Su Zimo subconsciously touched the metal pen in the side pocket of his backpack. He was relieved to find it was still there.
The intelligent navigation system Ayuyuyu seemed to know Su Zimo’s thoughts better than Ghost Umbrella, and directly explained:
[Master, there are two ways to sign a contract after the shop has upgraded! One is to use the new metal pen to trade within the store, and the other is that the owner can take a few pages of our special contract paper along with the special metal pen’s abilities and go outside the shop to trade! Master, isn’t this much more convenient?]
Although the voice of the system was still somewhat mechanical, the playful and praise-seeking childish tone made it seem more lively.
“That’s very good.” Su Zimo recalled several previous transaction. He though that this change may be the one with the greatest impact on the shop’s performance.
[Master, according to this system’s statistics, the goods in the store are extremely understocked! It seems that master worked hard to sell a lot of goods while Ayuyuyu was resting!]
[But since the shop has upgraded to Level 2, the remaining goods are far from enough. Master can go to the warehouse on the second floor; there should be plenty of goods suitable for sale!]
Su Zimo was shocked by Ayuyuyu’s words. If he understood correctly, the system just said that there was a warehouse on the second floor?
And there were products that Su Zimo desperately needed inside?
Su Zimo felt that those products had been left by the previous owner. There was really no difference between Su Zimo’s products and the ones found without effort!
“Ayuyuyu.” Su Zimo called the name he had given to the system. “Before I became the owner of this shop, when the previous owner was still here, what level was the shop?”
[When the previous owner was still here, An Yu Yi Yu was a Level 3 shop! When the previous owner disappeared, the shop had just upgraded to Level 3. Perhaps it took too much experience to upgrade to Level 4, but the previous owner began to travel after the store upgraded to Level 3 and stopped managing the store.]
“Level 4 store…” Su Zimo thought of the 10,000 experience needed to upgrade from a Level 2 store. He thought that upgrading a Level 3 store to a Level 4 store may take 1,000,000 experience. For Su Zimo, who had just started working, it was really difficult to imagine.
[Yes. Ayuyuyu used to hear from their former owner that after Level 2, it makes no difference if you upgrade or not. You don’t have to be too persistent.]
[There is very little difference between Level 2 and Level 3 shops. The previous owner mostly talked about how the side door that lets you go to the nightmare world alone disappeared completely. That entire wall becomes another storage wall.]
The side door disappears? Su Zimo glanced at the frequently used door in shock.
If the side door disappears, does that mean that after Level 3 the owner can only enter the nightmare world with the entire shop?
[When I was upgraded to Level 3, the former owner felt that such an upgrade wasn’t worthwhile, and that it was a big loss! They said that there were many inconveniences when taking the shop to the nightmare world to do business. Their Shouhua and life savings were also greatly overflowing, so the former owner wasn’t very keen on doing business.]
"
"
Ayuyuyu mentioned an overflow of Shouhua, so Su Zimo looked toward the shop door.
The two gardens were still in their normal locations, but because of the expansion, the gardens had also grown several times in size. Among the lush greenery, two blooming white Shouhua swayed without wind.
It was difficult for Su Zimo to imagine what could be considered overflowing with Shouhua. How many white double-petaled Shouhua blooming and swaying together would cause the former owner to think of them as overflowing?
What kind of image would that be?
Su Zimo asked curiously: “Ayuyuyu, how many owners have you been with?”
Faced with that question, Ayuyuyu was silent for a while, then spoke: [Master, Ayuyuyu was developed by the former owner. I heard that when the former owner received the shop, there was only a broken computer inside. They had to explore everything by themself, so the previous owner said that they would let the next owner know more about the shop. They wouldn’t have to go the long route like them.]
“It turns out that the previous owner was your creator. Do you miss them?” Su Zimo tried asking.
[Master, Ayuyuyu is a system and does not have the emotions to ‘miss’ anything.] Ayuyuyu’s voice was lively, but it was still mechanical.
“Then do you know the identity of the former owner?” Su Zimo continued asking. Su Zimo had always been curious about the owner of the shop for some reason. He felt that knowing their identity was something very important to him.
[Ayuyuyu only knows about the shop!]
Repeated questioning was unsuccessful, so Su Zimo turned to look at the stairs, wanting to see the warehouse Ayuyuyu had mentioned.
Footnotes
<ol>Oof. Okay guys so it changes from 店主 which means owner of a shop specifically (shopkeeper) to 拥有者, which is just the owner of something in general. It’s less specific, but it also most likely gives him more control/awareness of non-sales matters. Sorry! I should have translated 店主 more specifically for the shop info, but it didn’t occur to me that this transition would happen.</ol>
