Lu Liting felt even more guilty.

As long as he was willing to return to the Lu family, Weiwei would be able live in a villa, sit in a luxury car, and get the female lead acting roles and endorsements. However, Weiwei had been with him so long and only experienced suffering. He watched her struggle to make a living in the entertainment industry. He watched her being bullied. He watched her hide her sadness and faced her troubles alone. Whenever something bad happened to her, she wouldn’t tell him anything.

He sighed, placed his arm around Shen Weiwei’s thin shoulders, and solemnly promised, “Weiwei, don’t worry. I’ll solve this problem for you!”

Unsettled, Shen Weiwei said, “Don’t. You don’t understand what goes on in the entertainment circle. Don’t interfere in this. I’ll solve this problem myself. At worst… I’ll apologize to her and compensate her for her loss…”

He looked at Shen Weiwei’s gauzed-wrapped wrist in distress. “Don’t do anything foolish in the future, okay?”

With tears in her eyes, Shen Weiwei nodded.

Lu Liting didn’t feel reassured by her agreement. He stayed in the hospital all afternoon to keep her company. During this time, there were over ten missed calls. He only left the hospital when he finally couldn’t delay his other matters any further.

As soon as Lu Liting left, Meng Xun walked into Shen Weiwei’s hospital room. Looking at the woman that was using a tissue to wipe her tears, Meng Xun smiled and asked, “How did it go?”

Shen Weiwei lazily leaned back. With her eyebrows arched, she looked completely different from the pitiful and weak woman that had been in Lu Liting’s arms earlier. Looking at her gauze-wrapped wrist, she curved her lips into a mesmerising smile. “Do you even have to ask? It’s a forgone conclusion. He’s only a man.”

By the time Lu Liting left the hospital and returned home, it was already 7PM. There were over ten missed calls on his phone.

The villa was well-lit when he returned. Right after stepping into the living room, he almost collided with Aunty Pei. “Young Master, I’ve called you so many times. Why didn’t you come back until now?”

“Elder Lu is ill. He’s resting in his room right now. When you have time, you should go see him.”

Ji Qingqing happily came downstairs.
