Ch23 - Cold poison attack

The turbulent water and the rapid current quickly swept the fallen Ji Qinghuai away. Ji Qinghuai had no strength left to struggle and there was only one sensation all over his body.
Cold, so cold.
His body sank in the water as his consciousness gradually faded.
In a daze, a figure appeared in front of Ji Qinghuai. He couldn’t see who it was and even wondered if it was his illusion. Xie Yan swam to Ji Qinghuai, wrapped his arms around him, and brought him to the surface.
“Cough cough cough…” On the shore, Ji Qinghuai coughed several times and his consciousness finally returned. Xie Yan, who was still holding Ji Qinghuai, could feel his body trembling.
“How do you feel?”
Ji Qinghuai spoke slowly, “If no one comes to harm me now, I think I can still live for a long time.”
Seeing that Ji Qinghuai was still able to joke around, Xie Yan was relieved. However, Ji Qinghuai’s current situation was not good. Now that he had been exposed to the frigid waters, his cold poison could act up any time so staying outside was not ideal.
He asked, “Where do you live? I’ll take you back first.”
“It’s a bit far, let Luo Yi come over and pick us up.” Ji Qinghuai replied. He folded two blades of grass with his hands and tied a knot. The little grass knot slowly floated, and with a wave of his hand, it rushed out and disappeared from their sight.
Ji Qinghuai was a demon. For his convenience, his assistant and agent were also demons. Using this method to signal people would be much faster than calling someone and trying to describe their location.
The two waited for about ten minutes. While waiting, Ji Qinghuai’s expression became more and more haggard, and he wished to shrink himself into a ball. Xie Yan could only look at him in helplessness and even his heart became irritated.
At this moment, a car drove up by the side of the road and the headlights shone from afar. The grass knot that Ji Qinghuai had previously released hovered in front of them and fell to the ground without any movement.
Xie Yan supported Ji Qinghuai and brought him into Luo Yi’s car.
Previously, Luo Yi had heard from elder brother Chang Wu about Ji Qinghuai’s attempt to save the boy. As his assistant, Luo Yi certainly knew that Ji Qinghuai would be fine even if he was swept away, so he didn’t worry too much. Now, seeing both of them wet and Ji Qinghuai looking even more unwell, Luo Yi was shocked.
He was about to ask Ji Qinghuai what was wrong when Xie Yan closed the car door and said coldly, “Go back to the hotel.”
In the small car, Mr Xie’s aura instantly became stronger with a terrifying suppression. Luo Yi swallowed his words and quickly drove back to the hotel with his foot glued to the accelerator.
As soon as news spread that Ji Qinghuai had fallen into the reservoir and had been swept away, Lu Fangjie and Huang Minghai were frightened. After Luo Yi assured them that both Ji Qinghuai and Xie Yan were safe, they returned first and waited at the entrance of the hotel.
Luo Yi stopped the car and got out first. Xie Yan turned around and reached out a hand towards the car. Ji Qinghuai naturally grabbed it and let him help him out of the car.
Seeing that Ji Qinghuai was indeed okay, everyone was relieved. Lu Fangjie asked, “Is there any injury?”
Ji Qinghuai patted Lu Fangjie on the shoulder, “I just thought the weather was too hot, so I went down to take a shower, don’t worry.”
Lu Fangjie laughed, “Your hands are so cold, go take a bath and change your clothes.”
Ji Qinghuai glanced up and saw that the director and deputy director, as well as the other actors in the group, were almost all present. Wang Jiajia was also there, followed by Wen Jing, who was almost invisible within the crowd.
“My clothes need to be changed.” Ji Qinghuai smiled at everyone, “Don’t block the entrance, let me in.”
He was still dripping wet now and everyone was afraid that he would catch a cold. Ji Qinghuai walked unhurriedly while Xie Yan continued holding his arm and followed him.
The distance back to his room was not far away, but it was undoubtedly an embarrassment for Ji Qinghuai to be seen like this. He couldn’t let people see his weakened state so he could only pretend to be fine. If it wasn’t for Xie Yan who had been supporting him and covering for him, he would have long collapsed to the ground.
After some time, they finally returned to Ji Qinghuai’s room. As soon as Xie Yan closed the door, he almost collapsed because of his dizziness. Fortunately, Xie Yan quickly supported him with his hand.
“Are you really okay?” Along the way, Ji Qinghuai’s state could not be any clearer and he was a little worried.
“I just… need to rest.” Ji Qinghuai’s voice trembled, but he was more worried about another thing.
His previous experiences told him that this symptom was a sign that his cold poison was starting to take effect. It was because of this that he reverted to his original form and met Xie Yan.
If Xie Yan stayed here and he turned back into his cat form, Xie Yan would find out that he was the runaway kitten.
Thinking of the first time the two met, Xie Yan had even helped him take a bath, blow-dry his hair, and shaved him bald!
Meow, how can he face Xie Yan later?
He can’t let Xie Yan find out!
Xie Yan’s intention was indeed to find out if Ji Qinghuai was the cat, but he didn’t think much about it at this time. Ji Qinghuai looked extremely weak now, and he was worried about leaving Ji Qinghuai alone.
“Change your clothes first and then rest, I’ll stay with you.”
As for why he didn’t call his assistant to accompany him, Luo Yi’s inefficiency bothered him and felt that he was too unreliable.
If it were any other situation, Ji Qinghuai would immediately agree, but not tonight.
Ji Qinghuai had no choice but to say against his will, “No, I’m a light sleeper, if someone is next to me, I won’t be able to fall asleep.”
Xie Yan didn’t expect that the first time he took the initiative to take care of someone would be rejected, so he could only retreat and offer an alternative, “Then, I will wait for your assistant to come before leaving.”
As soon as his voice fell, someone knocked on the door of the room, and Xie Yan walked to the door to open the door. The one at the door was Luo Yi.
Luo Yi held a bowl of black liquid in his hand, and Xie Yan could smell the bitter Chinese medicine.
He then remembered that his second purpose of coming here was to deliver medicine to Ji Qinghuai. There was so much chaos previously that he had forgotten for a while.
Luo Yi brought the medicine bowl to Ji Qinghuai who drank it. Xie Yan thought that this medicine was also given by Xu Luo, so after drinking it, Ji Qinghuai’s condition should improve.
The medicine he had brought was placed in another hotel, so he couldn’t give it to Ji Qinghuai now.
After Ji Qinghuai finished drinking the medicine, his complexion improved after a few minutes. Seeing his face brighten, Xie Yan felt relieved and said to Ji Qinghuai, “I have to go, you should rest first.”
Ji Qinghuai nodded, “Rest early after dinner.”
Xie Yan wanted to say that he didn’t intend to go for dinner, but it didn’t make sense to explain it, so he left without saying anything else. After Xie Yan left, Ji Qinghuai said to Luo Yi, “You go out too, don’t bother me if it’s nothing important.”
Luo Yi didn’t know about Ji Qinghuai’s cold poison. Seeing his tired expression, Luo Yi didn’t dare to ask more. He picked up the bowl and walked out, gently closing the door.
Just like that, Ji Qinghuai was the only one left in the room. He sat quietly for a while, got up and took a quick shower in the bathroom. However, the hot water did nothing to dispel the chill in his body.
Ji Qinghuai was putting on his pyjamas when his vision suddenly darkened. Caught off guard, he fell directly to the ground.
He couldn’t help frowning.
He had obviously drunk the medicine, and it had alleviated his cold a little. But why did he feel even worse now than before?
Without waiting for him to think too much, the familiar chill hit again, and Ji Qinghuai’s fingertips began to freeze, spreading along his body.
At the same time, Xie Yan returned to the hotel and retrieved the box of medicine. As soon as he entered the elevator, he suddenly felt a little uneasy. This was not a good thing.
The moment the elevator door opened, Xie Yan headed straight to Ji Qinghuai’s room. He stood still at the door, paused, and knocked on the door.
He wasn’t gone for a long time so Ji Qinghuai shouldn’t have slept yet, but even after a while, no one opened the door.
Is he already asleep?
Xie Yan didn’t stop knocking.
If Ji Qinghuai had fallen asleep, it would be impolite for him to be so noisy. He would wait until tomorrow to give the medicine to Ji Qinghuai.
Thinking of this, Xie Yan turned around and was about to leave when he felt a sudden chill on his feet. He looked down and saw a layer of ice forming in the gap between the door and the floor. It had even started climbing onto the top of his shoe.
This situation…
Crap!
Xie Yan no longer cared about being polite. With a wave of his hand, the door of the room opened automatically. The floor and the walls of the room were all covered with ice and Ji Qinghuai was lying on the ground, looking lifeless.
Xie Yan was horrified.
Ji Qinghuai: “…”
Happy new year everyone! I hope 2022 is a good one for everyone
