And now, only the High Lordâs head remained. And so I used Drain Touch on his head and sucked all the magic.
I wouldnât give him even the smallest chance of turning into bats or mist.
âWait right there. I want to talk to you later.â
ââŚDonât underestimate me, you mere mortal.â
The High Lord said. Then he turned into ash. He had killed himself so he couldnât be questioned.
It was unfortunate that I couldnât get any information.
I turned to Shia and the others and said:
âI killed the leader. The rest should be nothing. Letâs hurry up and kill them.â
âYes! Weâll finish it right away!â
Shia and Serulis continued to fight the vampires.
As for Nia, Luchila, and Grulf, they were too busy to reply to me. Still, they seemed to be doing well.
Kathe was also busily sending vampires to their grave.
It seemed like they were no longer coming out of the teleportation circle.
The tide was already to our advantage, and now that I joined Shia and the others, it should all finish up very quickly.
Once all of the vampires were dead, I activated Magic Detection, just in case.
I wanted to be sure that there were none who got away.
âLuchia. Iâm sure you are tired, but donât forget to use Magic Detection.â
As I was already doing it, Luhila could have actually rested.
However, this was part of her training. She needed to learn the ways of a Sorcerer during battle.
And so she obediently activated Magic Detection. In spite of being tired, it covered a wide range.
She was growing into a very good Sorcerer. Very reliable.
Of course, mine covered a much, much wider area.
There were no vampires or any other enemies in the area.
âWhat do you think, Luchila?â
âYes. I donât detect any enemies.â
âYou did well. Overall, your movements were good.â
Lord Gerberga poked his head out of my jacket and clucked gently.
He was probably praising Luchila.
âThank you. Mister Locke. Lord Gerberga.â
Luchila looked very happy.
âShia, Nia, and Serullis. Youâve all become so much stronger.â
âThank you, even if youâre just being polite.â
âMister Locke doesnât flatter people! Iâm much more confident now.â
All three of them looked happy.
Grulf pressed his body into me. Perhaps he wanted to be praised as well.
âYouâve gotten stronger too, Grulf. You moved well.â
He wagged his tail happily.
âStill, that was a lot of vampires. How many in all?â
âThere are close to 80.â
âThat much⌠For now, start disposing of the bodies.â
Shia and the others got to work. As everything above an Arch Vampire turned into ash after death, it was relatively easy.
And then I decided to contact Eric and Goran.
Just then, I heard the beating of wings and saw that Kathe was approaching.
Her face was suddenly very close. As she was very large, it was a little overwhelming.
âLocke! Locke! How did I do?â
âIn the battle⌠How well did I fight!â
Unlike Shia and the others, Kathe was strong from the beginning. And so I didnât give her any critiques.
I thought it would be rude. However, it seemed like Kathe had expected me to comment.
âYou were strong too. I was very impressed.â
Kathe nodded with satisfaction and her tail swayed.
I watched her as I activated the communication bracelet in order to contact Eric and Goran.
âI have a little report to make.â
âOh, what happened? Is it related to the dark wraiths?â
Eric was the first to answer.
I had already told Eric, Goran, Dorgo and the water dragons about the dark wraiths.
âExactly. Things have gotten a little complicated.â
Goran, Dorgo, Leea and Morris then came on a moment after Eric.
Once I knew they were all listening, I began to explain.
âI had just finished strengthening the beastkin wolves mansion and installed the magic devicesâŚâ
The dark wraith attack. The accompanying lesser vampires.
And then the mysterious magic devices and the explosion.
And how vampires had come out of a teleportation circle right after.
I told them all of this briskly.
âSo, Iâm planning on going through the teleportation circle and cleaning their place out.â
âNot so fast, Locke.â
Goran and Eric said frantically.
âWhat? Is there a problem?â
âThere is nothing but problems! Iâm going over right now, so wait for me.â
âBut there isnât any time. They might close the portal.â
âWell, calm down. Locke.â
Eric said consolingly. Maybe he thought I was rushing things.
âIf you insist, I will waitâŚâ
âFor now, I want you to wait for 10 minutes.â
âCan you wait for a while?â
After that, I could hear noises coming from Eric, Goran and Dorgoâs bracelets for quite some time.
