The mission of the fourth episode is simpler. The contestants only have to hunt an adequate amount of animals in the forest to acquire a corresponding number of points, dependent on the danger of the hunt and how rare it is. The ones that are more dangerous or harder to hunt gives more points.
Bright knows this is the show’s response to that attack by the animal protection group. When this episode airs it will definitely make them enraged. This is an expression of attitude that says they’ll take them on and also uses them for a bit of discussion, making the show both controversial and gaining exposure.
So the contestants just have to hunt enough game and prevent themselves from being killed. That’s what Bright planned to do from the very beginning.
Though his plan is smashed to smithereens when he receives that warning about how people are out to get him. The ones who are after his life are very dangerous so he can only change his plan and take care of the trouble first.
He has seen ‘the Wolves’ from far away once. Every one of them are strong and powerful, and highly trained. If they all attack together, he’ll never make it. The best way to deal with them is picking them off one-by-one.
It’s good that the points race is spread across three episodes and is accumulative. One can even steal other contestants’ points. If he falls behind this episode he can chase from behind. So he can put his whole mind to taking care of the enemy.
Bright pretends to run away and goes to the front of all the contestants, but in reality he covers his tracks and circles back behind in secret. Turning from the hunted to the hunter of ‘the Wolves,’ preparing to move as the opportunity arises.
He doesn’t know, however, that he’d be blocked.
“It’s a duel, number 199! I’ll win this time!”
The Beast’s great roar makes Bright’s head hurt. He looks around and doesn’t immediately see the official CP of Beast, so he raises his alertness level. He knows this rude and barbaric beast of a man in front of him is simple in the head. The one who came up with an ambush back on the way he came is probably the clever Blond.
Bright doesn’t take his provocation and turns around to leave immediately.
His action ignites Beast, and he roars while lunging towards him, shouting, “are you even a man?! I will clear my name!”
An arrow flies out from a concealed area towards the back of Bright. Bright shifts to the side and the simple wooden arrowhead sinks into the ground, the body of the arrow still shaking. This just happens to stop him from leaving and Beast catches up to him.
Cursing in silence, Bright has to stamp his feet and turn his body around to face Beast.
Sound of another shot through the air. Bright bends backwards before immediately standing up again. This great power of his abdomen makes three cameras point at him immediately.
The Beast yells in protest, “you bitch! He’s mine! Don’t interfere!”
The Beauty does not answer. Bright sees the bushes shaking a little, about 20 metres from him. Then there is silence, the other person has moved somewhere else.
Bright is shocked inwardly, the power, the accuracy and the experience are no joke. So the Beauty had that kind of skill all along. Making and shooting a bow and arrow isn’t a skill just anyone has. Looks like this prima donna of a nightclub has some secrets.
With an archer hidden in the shadows, and other powerful enemies on their way, Bright cannot hesitate any further, or he will die here.
A look of absolute cold flashes over Bright’s brown eyes. He dodges the fist of Beast, then follows his way up his body, with his hands on the left and right of Beast’s head, then he turns it around powerfully. A snap sound later, and Beast slumps down.
The blond Beauty drawing his bow preparing to shoot behind the tree widens his eyes and greatly narrows his pupils. Number 199 managed to kill Beast in 2 moves, he has been concealing his true strength all along! Sensing danger, he runs away without turning back once.
Bright does not follow up. He doesn’t have a chance as his back is attacked. The people trying to ambush him arrived soon after he encountered Beast, and attacks as Bright thinks he is victorious over Beast.
Bright rolls forward on the ground unsteadily and barely dodges the attack, all his hair standing on end. He meets the eyes of the attacker.
“What, surprised to see me?”
It’s the youngest one of ‘the Wolves.’ He has a pair of ice-blue eyes, currently looking at Bright like looking at a dead person.
Even though Bright is surprised he can find himself that well, and is certain he has some special tracking ability, he calms down quickly. There’s only one opponent right now and he still has a chance of winning. If he goes about this quickly and take care of him, he can escape the pursuit of ‘the Wolves.’
Bright makes the first move. His fists are quick yet the opponent is quicker, lifting his feet for a roundhouse kick. Bright blocks with his two arms and is surprised at how much power is in there. It feels like being hit by a solid steel of rebar and he takes a few steps back.
“Looking down on us is a sin you will atone with your life. There’s still time for you to commit suicide.”
Bright has cold sweat across his forehead. The youngster is strong. Just a single one is a bit much for him. If every one of their group is at this level he’ll be having his farewell lunch today!
He starts running away.
There’s others having cold sweat among the staff as well.
George the ‘ Slacker Fan ‘ is almost stretching his leader’s collar to shake it. Luckily he still remembers his yearly report is written by him, and holds back his tumultuous emotions.
“Number 199 is going to die! Isn’t some bigshot protecting him?”
The leader looks at him a bit, says, “number 199 hid his true strength. Did you not see how he killed Beast? It was quick and simple, Beast didn’t even have a chance to resist. Then it so happens we can use ‘Wolfie’ to test his strength. He also tricked the show before so he needs to be taught a lesson.”
George splits his attention and looks at the screen. The man is hurt and running among the woods. His breath is haggard but he hasn’t stopped for a moment. Stopping will mean he will fall into the hunting encirclement of the Wolves. The hunter known as ‘Wolfie’ is following him closely from behind, leaving marks for his companions.
“What about the other wolves?” George asks, anxious.
At least you’re not unsalvageably dumbed down, the leader thinks, and says with confidence, “other staff’s on them, they’ve trapped them.”
George sighs in relief, then murmurs, “the wolf’s broken the camera as well. We should punish him too.”
The leader is speechless, “…” Can you be a proper anti-fan?! Who’d defend number 199 to that extent. Though he doesn’t retort, ‘Wolfie’ has broken the camera when pursuing Bright ‘by accident,’ even though this will definitely bring him trouble later if he isn’t killed by number 199.
Suddenly, the communications system rings, and the leader turns on the external speaker.
“The camera of ‘the Wolves’ have all suddenly malfunctioned. It is unknown what method they used, but they have escaped! We believe they’re heading towards number 199.”
“What?! Get me the Director immediately!”
Now it is the leader’s turn to be flustered.
Number 199 did manage to hang his way onto a thick thigh, it’s something everyone knows. To kill him, they must be cautious and precise.
Number 199 is quite powerful indeed, but he is just a single person. Killing him will not be difficult. The key thing here is that the show’s interference has been eliminated, and they are currently unable to control them from the shadows.
The ‘Alpha’ stomps hard on the camera, breaking it, and orders coldly, “let’s go. We’ll meet up with Wolfie.”
“Aye!”
