Chapter 6.2: This Does Not Conform to the Routine
“Your family has no means to pay back the money in interest.” Tian Heng sighed. “Alas, I’ve no choice but to kill you. It has nothing to do with other people, understand? But of course, in order to make sure all is done well, I’ll go ahead and tear down your poor, old house whilst making sure to dispose of your family after this.
Shen Lang remained silent, quietly comprehending fully the situation. There were powerful groups of men hiding in the shadows who’d commissioned Tiang a huge sum of money to murder him in cold blood. But first, in order to do so, they needed to find a legitimate reason and the excuse of the exorbitant interest rate was enough to destroy him and his family.
“Shen Lang, you and I have no enmity and it seems you aren’t as stupid as they make it out to be, but I am sorry. We aren’t fated to be friends. I will have to kill you. I can’t help it.” Then, Tian Heng faced his men. “Give him a good death.”
“Yes!” The figures in the back suddenly stepped forward.
One pulled out a dagger and held it close to the nape of his neck. If put pressure, the dagger would without question slit his flesh and he’d die a quick death.
“Wait! Shen Lang called out. “How much did that person pay you? I will give you ten times the amount… one thousand gold coins!”
When the words seeped out, the dagger neared closer to his neck.
Tian Heng was surprised. They say this boy is foolish? He chuckled. Then they’re even more foolish. From a mere simple conversation, he’d already seen through their intents.
“I am truly excited! Very excited!” Tian Heng smiled bitterly. “This is indeed heartbreaking to see, but your family is too poor to open the pot. Your father lies heavily injured in bed, your brother’s a cripple, and your mother burdened to death. You, you do not even have a mere gold coin in your pocket let alone a thousand gold coins.”
All these unfilial actions and sins were caused by him, Shen Lang. Due to his stupidity, the Xu Family took advantage of him wantonly. Now his family has fallen into a depressive situation. Even his life hovered in between a small thread of life and death.
The worth of one thousand gold coins… how much is it in this world?
The average working family spends no less than two gold coins if they worked for a year straight. Were he to use a rough calculation method, one thousand gold coins would be an equivalent of three million yuan in the modern world.
“The amount of money owed can never be paid in this lifetime.” Tian Heng sneered.
“You can gamble on me.” Shen Lang proceeded. “If this gamble succeeds, you stand to make huge sums of money. If it fails, you’ll only be delaying my imminent death. In the end, you’ll still get the hundred gold coins.”
“Hmm…” Tian Heng hesitated somewhat.
The foolish boy said he’d manage to earn one thousand gold coins in ten days time. It seemed impossible at first hand, but he also managed to peer through the silver needle in his body, a secret he never spoke of. What can it be but absurd?
“Three days. I can only give you three days.”
Shen Lang nodded vigorously. He knew the current crisis was an opportunity, but also highly dangerous. Tian Heng won’t hesitate to kill him in cold blood if the condition is not met in three days time.
“It’s a deal.” Shen Lang smiled lightly.
“Take him out!” Tian Heng bellowed.
Four men appeared and quickly dug Shen Lang out of the pit.
Shen Lang had no pen or paper so he tore off a piece of his clothing. Thereafter, he bit on his finger. Blood trickled down as he wrote an oath with his name signed in red blood.
Tian Heng looked over the blood oath.
Was this fool really as foolish as they ought to think?
Truly ridiculous.
“Hand over the gold in three days time. Don’t make me regret this.” Tian Heng said coldly, back facing him. “Thirteen, Fourteen, escort him back to his family. You’ll be staying with him for three days.”
“Yes!” The two replied perfunctorily.
Then, Tian Heng went away with the rest of the shadowy figures, his voice echoing in the deep wilderness. “Remember, Shen Lang… unless… you wish to see… the death… of your family…”
Tian Heng’s figure faded into the dense foliage; cold, arrogant voice drilled deep inside his core as the gust of wind passed by ever so gently.
“This is no problem.” Shen Lang began moving.
He needed to come up with a way to make not only quick riches but also with means to protect his family. Also, he wanted revenge against the sufferings faced from the Xu Family House.
And the method he thought of killed two birds with one stone.\n
