Resurrection glitch
Androids are easy on the body at times like this.
The human part of me is upset, agitated, and completely blank, but I’m still able to think calmly.
There’s nothing I can do. It’s too late for Alf and Bate.
Lindia-san, on the other hand, is an android. And if my prediction is correct, she’s the same type as the girls who sleep in our basement.
There are plenty of spare types. In other words, they can be repaired.
Once the repairs are done, Lindia-san will be able to return to her city. Then she can explain the situation to them and have the misunderstanding cleared up.
She seems to be the heart and soul of the city.
If words are not enough, just give them the video. It’s a small price to pay to lend you a playback device.
The problem is the two dead bodies of Alf and Bate, and the soldiers outside the gate. Hate to say it, but there’s no such thing as a regenerative machine at present.
In the image sent to my head, the sound of the thermal gun seemed to have leaked outside, and the soldiers were screaming, “What’s going on?”.
I can easily imagine that even if I asked them to leave, they would not do so meekly.
“Magami.”
“Wafu.”
“Okay, come on.
While savoring the soft fur, I gave him instructions for the rest of the day.
“I’m going to open the gate. We’ll try to keep this as quiet as possible, but if any of the soldiers attack us, you’ll have to fight them off with as few kills as possible.”
“Wafu.”
“Don’t get your priorities wrong. Your self-defense takes precedence over their lives. As much as you can.”
“Wafu.”
“Okay, Sin, open the gate.
At the same time as Sin’s reply, the gate began to move. The iron doors that slide open on both sides are opened, and the soldiers who see the scene immediately change their expressions to astonishment.
“What is this! ?
“What the hell is going on! ?”
“Lady Lindya! Hey, did you do this! ?”
The soldiers who were about to run up to her stopped moving….. Oh, they were scared of Magami and the others.
“Let me explain.”
I raised my hands in the air to express my pacifism, but the soldiers were getting more and more heated.
“You killed Lady Lindia!”
“Avenge Lady Lindia!”
They don’t listen.
To begin with, it’s probably your weapon that’s stuck in Lindia-san’s head. Well, that’s the theory I gave myself earlier.
They don’t care about my life. If someone I care about is killed in front of others, it doesn’t matter what the truth is. By taking the life of the only person left, you will not fail to avenge yourself.
I don’t think it’s barbaric. It’s only natural if the culture is immature.
The idea of thoroughly investigating the truth of the incident before taking action is only possible in a rule of law country where people have laid down their arms, and in an information society where the democratic strong, who are armed with no weapons and are weak, can turn morality into a weapon named “ally” and fight.
Anyway, the soldiers picked up their weapons. I think it’s a shame.
“Magami, do it.”
◇◆◇◆◇
It was an hour after Magami and his team destroyed the weapons with their heat ray guns and the soldiers fled with their crawling bodies.
Sin reported that there was no damage on our side at all. Excellent one.
The problem is Lindia-san, her beautiful face is miserably deformed.
After arriving at the shelter, I loaded Lindia-san into the ATV and took her to the maintenance room.
Alf and Bate’s bodies were left for Masaru to bury.
I don’t know how they do things in this country, but we cremated them without mercy for hygienic reasons, and since there was a river flowing eastward in the mountain that was our territory, we scattered the bones in the river from outside the wall.
The river is used for a hot spring facility, so I just didn’t want to contaminate the stream inside the wall for any reason.
The current of the river will carry them back to the mother sea, probably, surely.
I mean, I don’t want to have someone else’s grave in my yard.
I left Lindia-san in the hands of Sin, and now I’m waiting for her resurrection.
Other people are the source of trouble. I know it well.
I won’t say I was lonely anymore.
As soon as she is back, let’s give her a video and ask her to leave as soon as possible.
It seems that it’s not only in the company that things don’t go as expected and become troublesome when you think you’ve got it all figured out and that it’s just a simple job.
Three days after Lindia-san’s head was cracked open.
I received a call from Sin saying that she had woken up after repairs, so I went to see her and after a while, I had to hold my head in my hands.
When she opened the door and entered the maintenance room, she sat up in bed and pulled herself up.
“You’re awake.”
“Who are you? No….. Where am I?”
“This is the maintenance room. I had to repair your head after one of your men cracked it open.”
“Crack my head open? What? What do you mean?”
Clouded memory? Does that happen to androids?
“Sin. Tell me about Lindia-san’s repairs.”
[Yes. The bio-memory was completely damaged, and the same type of equipment in the shelter was used to replace it. Also, the artificial muscle fibers and skeleton were damaged due to aging. We have replaced them as well.]
I couldn’t keep my mouth shut when I saw the report on the situation before the repairs.
It’s almost like a total replacement. I mean, why did you let it go until now?
No, there’s no way there’s maintenance equipment in a human city after the collapse of civilization.
“How do we recover the data?”
[Judged as impossible.]
After being startled by the sudden report of Sin’s voice, I tried to sort out the situation with Lindia who for some reason was scurrying around, touching her own waist, chest and buttocks with her hands.
I see. So the storage device in the android had been completely destroyed.
At least, given the communication situation, there’s no way they’re sending their memories of this place to the cloud.
I knew from my own observations that the memory had been damaged. I didn’t expect it to be unrecoverable, though. Well, that’s not a problem.
“That…..”
“What do you want?”
“Where is my smartphone?”
It’s a word I’ve missed a lot. How could it exist in this day and age?
So the place you were touching was where the pocket was.
“I hate to say it, but we don’t have it here. At least I haven’t seen it.”
“What? It’s a lie”
“Why are you calling me a liar all of a sudden?”
“Then how do you know my name? Isn’t it because you saw my phone?”
“No, why does knowing your name mean that I’ve seen your phone?”
“Because that’s ….. the username of my game app….”
I don’t like it when people say that with embarrassment. I mean, I guessed it from this conversation.
“Lindia-san, how much do you remember about what happened before you woke up?”
From there, the conversation was a struggle.
There was one thing I miscalculated or assumed. In the first place, I had never repaired an android since the world had become like this, so this was my first attempt, but I assumed it was inevitable.
Since the human part of her awoke and regained her memories of her life, of course the human part of her would continue to remember afterwards.
However, although she had memories of her life, she had lost her memories of the time when she was living as an android.
…..Give me a break.
Now, here comes the tricky part.
First of all, let me introduce her again.
Ashigara Ashi-gara Suzuka. That’s her human name.
It is Suzuka(スズカ) > Suzuka(鈴鹿) > Lindia. I don’t care.
She is a maidroid that can double as a nurse, housekeeper, and mistress, developed for a former teacher and now an elderly rich man.
The reason why every movement is so glamorous is because the programmed movements appear like habits unless the human part is conscious of them.
Oh well, it doesn’t matter around here either. What matters is that she is a civilian.
Lindia-san, who spent many years chasing her aspirations, and Suzuka Ashigara, an ordinary Japanese citizen who has lost her memory of those days, are no longer the same person.
When Suzuka was shown the image of her own head being cracked open, she just started to get scared.
This is what happens when you talk to her like that.
“Ashigara-san. That’s why I was wondering if you could come back and show them this footage.”
“No!
I didn’t expect it. Or rather, I didn’t even try to predict it because I didn’t care about her too much.
By the time I got her to understand who I was and what was going on in the world, my mind was exhausted.
Anyway, it took a long time.
She refused to accept the data that was pre-installed, saying, “This is a lie!” I had to quiet her down and talk to her. I was exhausted.
Is that why? I thought, Even if she could understand, it would be too much to ask her to take responsibility for Lindia-san now.
It’s a sign of a weak mind.
“This is….. because if I go back to…. I might get killed again, right?”
Well, that’s not okay…..
“No, no, no. Please…. Don’t kick me out. Don’t leave me. Okay? I’ll do anything… anything at all…”
It is a weakness of the heart to be swayed by sympathy for others.
If you want to live a strong life, it’s important to have a strong sense of self and remember your priorities, I thought as I watched her clinging to my leg.
So now’s not the time to be sighing, me.
