Chapter 4 – Audience
As Tactics Chronicle has an abundance of fantasy elements, it differs from traditional war games in various aspects.
Amongst them, one such aspect is that depending on how you raise your subordinates, one soldier can literally be a match for a thousand… in other words, you could become unparalleled in terms of strength here.
If a soldier is raised to the commander class, they could very well take on hundreds of ordinary soldiers alone.
To give an example of it, one devoted player gave it their all, raising only 10 subordinates and challenged an army of 10,000—literally recreating the phrase “one soldier being a match for a thousand”.
Apparently, there is a manga where 10 brave heroes accomplish the great task of bringing down a whole country and this player is an avid reader of it. In their words,
[I wanted to try and do it at any cost. I have no regrets.]
While they did in fact succeed in annihilating the enemy’s main forces, they lacked soldiers to occupy the capital and ultimately lost it as the enemy played their numbers well.
They did try retaking the enemy’s capital once again, however, the enemy took control of their capital instead as it was completely unguarded
When they tried retaking the enemy’s capital, they were hit with an overwhelming force at their own capital and ended up losing the war, ultimately becoming a faction of some small state. The reality is indeed cruel.
However, this certain country did accomplish the feat of fighting a 10-vs-10,000 war despite it only being a gag.
If so, there was no reason why a military world power such as Archimaira could not do the same—their corps commanders possessed strength far beyond those 10 brave soldiers.
If such a commander possesses some sort of area-of-effect ability, they could very well take on more than a thousand soldiers alone.
However, on the other hand, the fighting ability of the king in Tactics Chronicle is basically nonexistent.
All their stats starting from their vitality is the same or lower than a normal human being and there was no means of training either.
Their offense was set to 0 in the game and so, no matter how much they attacked the enemy, it would effectively deal no damage.
To sum it up, while their subordinates can be extremely strong in the game, they themselves are set to be the weakest… if, by chance, a rebellion occurs, Helian’s life would end right there and then .
—In other words, he’s super scared.
