v1c19 - Me and grumpy Lydia, who got a call from Tabitha but was confused as to what it was about
“Then Nina will make the pot and teapot!”
“Yeah, I’m looking forward to it. I’m going to gather what I need to explore the underground cave.”
“Oh, wait. I’m coming with you, Mr. Alex!”
After lunch, Nina immediately started making pots using the iron and clay she had just acquired.
Apparently, pots are easy to make with a Blacksmith’s blacksmithing skills.
If anything, it takes longer to make a teapot using clay.
Considering the ease of processing, it seems to be the opposite …… Well, I guess that’s just the way it is.
“Mr. Alex. What do you need to explore the underground cave? There’s nothing inside the walls but orchards and fields, remember?”
“Before lunch, Lydia told us that insects are weak against fire and ice, didn’t she? Since my only offensive skill is the holy attribute, so I thought I’d attack with non-magical fire.”
“…… D-Does that mean you’re going to burn a tree, by any chance?”
“No way. It’s an important fruit tree, it’s fine if it’s a broken broken branch or fallen leaf, but I wouldn’t intentionally break it.”
“I-I guess so …… but then what are you going to burn?”
"
"
With Lydia tilting her head curiously, I came to a wheat field.
Beside them are piles of stalks from wheat that have been harvested so far and removed from the head.
At first, I thought of making a straw hat out of it, but it was too difficult and I gave up.
I also wondered if I could burn them and turn them into ashes to use as fertilizer for the fields? But I didn’t do that either because we could grow crops with Lydia’s spirit magic in the first place and it would just risk a fire.
So I gathered up the straw that had become nothing more than trash, tied it tightly together, and wondered if I could make it look like a torch.
“…… But I found out that straw is hollow inside.”
“Yes, that’s right. Doesn’t that make it burn better?”
“I guess so. We have a lot of it, so I’ll just make as much as I can.”
I don’t know how effective this would be, but it was a fairly large cave, and I doubt that burning this would cause us to run out of oxygen.
After making a reasonable number of torch-like things, I returned to the cabin…
“Oh, Mister! I’m done with the slightly deeper pot that Lydia asked me to make!”
Nina had already finished the pot.
“Ms. Nina! Thank you very much! Now I can make a delicious stew for Mr. Alex!”
“Wait. It’s only for Mister!? What about Nina!?”
“Oh …… of course I’ll make one for you too, Ms. Nina?”
“Geez …… it sounds like you’d do it while you’re at it.”
“I-I’m not, though. Right, Mr. Alex?”
Why is Lydia shaking me there?
I thought it was a complete misunderstanding, and when I managed to settle it by talking about wanting to eat Lydia’s delicious rice together…
“Mr. Alex. Are you there right now?”
Suddenly, Tabitha’s voice came from near the ceiling.
“Mister? This is?”
“Ms. Nina, please be quiet. It’s a magic call from the Adventurers’ Guild in the town where Mr. Alex used to live.”
“…… I see. I’ll be quiet in the corner of the room then.”
"
"
Nina looked up at the ceiling with a puzzled expression on her face, and Lydia explained the situation to her.
“Oh, I’m here. What’s going on? At such a half-assed time.”
I decided to start a conversation with Tabitha.
“Yes, I was wondering if I could talk to you about something. By the way, I would say the time is more normal this time, but the last time was irregular.”
“I see. Well, it’s true, last time it was first thing in the morning.”
“Well, now that that’s out of the way, let’s get down to business. Let me be frank. One of the women I told you before who said she would go to you …… and help you with your request is Ellie. What do you think? You’d like her to come, wouldn’t you?”
At Tabitha’s words, Lydia reacts in the same way as before, with a small twitch and an anxious look in her eyes.
But last time it meant that there was nothing to do even if a woman came, but with Ellie, it’s a different story.
I would even rather have her come to explore the underground cave.
But that would be impossible.
“Is that what Ellie is saying? I appreciate the offer, and it would be a tremendous help, but that would be not good.”
“What? What do you mean, “not good”?”
“I mean it as it is. Ellie and Roland are in love with each other, right? And if Ellie comes here and she can’t go back, I can see her getting in trouble.”
“………… Huh?”
I thought I had said the most obvious thing about Ellie, but for some reason, Tabitha’s words stopped.
Huh? Did I say something funny?
A little troubled, I turn to Lydia and the others for help, but both of them are just as puzzled as I am.
…… Lydia seems to be a little happy about it, though.
Then, after a period of silence
“What makes you think that Ellie and Mr. Roland are in love?”
Finally, Tabitha continues to speak.
“Why, you ask …… because they told me so himself.”
“Did Ellie tell you that?”
“No, Roland told me.”
“That idiot …… is that what you mean!? Mr. Alex! That’s not true! Ellie is ……”
“Ellie is?”
“…… I-I’ll be in touch!”
For some reason, Tabitha interrupted the conversation.
“Lydia. Do you know what she meant earlier?”
“…… I don’t know!”
For some reason, Lydia puffs out her cheeks and looks me right in the eye with a serious look.
What is it? What did both Tabitha and Lydia mean!?
