Although Ji Heng Yu did not know why Xiang Yi Mo was so deeply in love with Qin Chu, it might be because one would be fond of someone once one liked that person.
He was also unaware how much weight the gifts he had given out in Qin Chu’s names to please Xiang Yi Mo contributed to Mo Mo’s fondness for Qin Chu.
It was just a matter of grasping, taking advantage… of any possibility of wearing down Mo Mo’s affection for Qin Chu.
Thus…
Ji Heng Yu, seemingly casually, told Xiang Yi Mo all of these things in their original form, causing Xiang Yi Mo to be stupefied.
She wouldn’t deny that she had liked Qin Chu, her Little Elder Brother from next door, ever since she was a child and that she had meant what she said when she said she wanted to marry Qin Chu when she grew up.
But what really made her fondness for Qin Chu snowball to such an extent that she could hardly take it back, even with Qi Yan’s sudden appearance, were these gifts that never invited credit and were always gifts she secretly liked from the bottom of her heart.
She hoped that she and Qin Chu would hold hands and walk together to the end of the road paved with jewels, flowers and gifts.
However, she looked back and realised that the love she once had for Qin Chu was so absurd and ridiculous.
For a moment, Xiang Yi Mo felt a mixture of emotions.
As she thought about what a clever trio these three were, she angrily finished her strawberry mousse and reached for a piece of different-shaped, exquisite chocolate.
The little girl hung her head slightly and picked up a piece of brown-coloured chocolate with her slender fingers that were like the tender white roots of green onion. [1] This contrast made her skin appear to be even fairer.
Her red lips were slightly parted as she took the heart-shaped chocolate into her mouth and chewed it absentmindedly.
Ji Heng Yu stared at her in such a manner.
As he kept staring at her…
It sparked joy in his heart.
The temperature of his eyes grew hotter as his gaze lingered. The heat was so hot that the heart of the person being stared at… also became warm.
There was a distance between them, but they could feel the heat transmitted through the air.
The haze that briefly shrouded his heart dissipated with this heat.
Ji Heng Yu stared silently for a moment, holding back his confused mind. He spoke with a warm voice, “Mo Mo, don’t eat too many desserts at once. You won’t be able to eat the main course later.”
The tip of Xiang Yi Mo’s ear twitched slightly, and she made a muffle “mm” sound. A beautiful little tongue poked out to lick the sweetness that remained on her lips.
Her fingertips went back to the plate of chocolates…
Ji Heng Yu smiled helplessly. Suddenly, the screen of his mobile phone on the table lit up, and the ringing of an incoming call came with a jolt.
He glanced at the caller ID and saw the three words “Lu Man Man”.
Wang Chen’s younger sister…
His slender fingers touched and unlocked the screen. The moment the call was connected, an unusually low voice came from the other end of the phone, shouting in a fiery voice, “Big Brother Ji!”
Her voice sounded as if it had been filled with sand.
“Lu Man Man, what’s wrong with your voice?”
“My voice, ahahaha, nothing. I drank a bit too much yesterday. My voice broke from singing Karaoke ….”
Lu Man Man sounded like she was a little guilty. She almost forgot the important thing after being interrupted by him.
“No, my voice is not important! Big Brother Ji, didn’t I bring you a gift yesterday? I accidentally mixed up that gift. Big Brother Ji, you haven’t eaten it yet, right?”
“I was going to give it to Gu Xiu Yuan.”
“Was it chocolate?” Ji Heng Yu looked at Xiang Yi Mo eating another one. “I’ll have someone buy a new one and send it over.”
“Buy a new one? What the heck! Big Brother Ji, you didn’t eat it, right? Are you okay? Is everything okay?”
Ji Heng Yu wrinkled his eyebrows upon hearing the girl asking about his body condition on the other end of the phone.
“What’s going on?” His voice became a little gruff.
“Er, ha, Big Brother Ji, I….” Lu Man Man stammered for a long time. Then, she braced herself and allowed things to worsen even if she knew she had made a mistake. [2]
“I drugged the chocolate with an aphrodisiac!”
“But Big Brother Ji, the dosage isn’t too much. So if you only eat one or two, it shouldn’t be a problem….”
“Hello? Big Brother Ji, are you listening? Are you okay?”
Aphrodisiac?
Ji Heng Yu’s eyebrows were knitted together. As for what Lu Man Man said at the end, he was no longer listening.
He looked over with a worried gaze and was just about to tell Xiang Yi Mo that she couldn’t eat that chocolate anymore. Then he saw…
The little girl sitting on the sofa moved with a start. She seemed thirsty as she poured cup after cup of water, lifting it to her lips to chug it down.
An unnatural flush appeared on her small face. Her eyes blinked and were watery as if they were rippling with spring water.
One of her petite hands frantically tugged at the collar of her clothes while the other fanned the air around her face. It was clear that this wind was insignificant.
Her red lips opened and closed, and her already soft, mumbling voice became even softer, “Ji Heng Yu, why is your office getting hotter and hotter?”
