After staring at the little girl in his arms for a long time, Ji Heng Yu had a plan in his heart, and the arm holding her beautiful body tightened.
Since Qin Chu can’t recognise this pearl and only see the fish eye, why can’t he pick up this pearl and treasure it?
Ji Heng Yu carefully hugged his little pearly tightly and placed her on the bed in his lounge.
He sat on the edge of the bed. His eyes unabashedly coveted the pearl as if the dragon had found the most precious treasure, eyeing this particular treasure with a passion.
Meanwhile, at Huasheng Group, Lu Wang Chen had just finished his work at hand and raised his wrist to check the time on his watch. As soon as he could relax from work, he couldn’t help but think of Xiang Yi Mo.
I wonder if this little girl has had her lunch yet.
He unlocked his phone, and his eyes fell on the three words “Xiang Yi Mo” in his contacts. If he asks Mo Mo out directly, she may refuse him…
So Lu Wang Chen grabbed his jacket without hesitation, intending to go straight to Shangcheng to take her away. However, he didn’t expect to not find her there.
“Where’s Mo Mo?” Lu Wang Chen asked Qin Chu.
Although Qin Chu was surprised that Lu Wang Chen had come to find Xiang Yi Mo, he still told his best friend that he had sent Mo Mo out to Ji Company and let her go over there in the morning.
“Is Ji Heng Yu there…” Lu Wang Chen mumbled, pondering why Ji Heng Yu had suggested this to Qin Chu.
Even Lu Wang Chen, whose detective ability points were full marks, couldn’t figure out why. After all, Ji Heng Yu’s gynophobia left a deep impression on him.
It was about noon, and he thought that Mo Mo must have already used or was having lunch. So Lu Wang Chen could only give up his desire to meet Xiang Yi Mo for the time being.
Then he went to the back kitchen of Flora’s Dessert Shop, which Huasheng owned.
Lu Wang Chen personally made a strawberry mousse called Angel’s Kiss, a dessert made by Lu Wang Chen with Xiang Yi Mo in mind and was also Xiang Yi Mo’s favourite dessert. He packed it up and sent it to Ji Company.
Ji Heng Yu walked out of the lounge and gently closed the door.
He sat at his desk to collect his thoughts and thought for a while before raising his eyes to see Secretary Gao enter with the lunch he had ordered for himself and the paper bag with Flora’s logo on it.
“Secretary Gao, this is…” Ji Heng Yu glanced at this dessert paper bag.
He subconsciously thought that Secretary Gao liked desserts. Although he is a tough-looking man, this is probably called “gap moe”?
The corners of Secretary Gao’s mouth twitched. Although Chairman Ji didn’t say it explicitly, he could somewhat guess what was misunderstood by looking at Chairman Ji’s expression. “Chairman Ji, this is from President Lu.”
“Wang Chen?” Ji Heng Yu froze upon hearing this.
Why did Lu Wang Chen send him a dessert for no reason?
“It’s not for you. It’s for Miss Xiang.”
Secretary Gao hastily spoke up, stopping his chairman from venturing into infinite thoughts and having his head filled with question marks.
“It’s for Mo Mo…” Ji Heng Yu frowned slightly. He didn’t think much about it and told Secretary Gao to put the dessert into the freezer to chill.
Because Lu Wang Chen would buy Mo Mo her favourite small dessert whenever Qin Chu came with Mo Mo or if Lu Wang Chen was present when Mo Mo came to see Qin Chu, if he bought anything for his sister, he would always bring one for Mo Mo.
However, the little child, Mo Mo, did not accept gifts from people she did not know well.
He remembered when they gave Mo Mo a gift.
She hid timidly behind Qin Chu, adorably frowning at their gifts as if she would be tricked into being sold by them if she accepted their presents.
She had to go through Qin Chu’s hands before she would accept the gift, which made one not know whether to cry or laugh.
Later on, although he often saw Mo Mo behind Qin Chu, Mo Mo did not pay close attention to the three of them.
He just sat quietly and obediently next to Qin Chu.
In Mo Mo’s words, ‘We aren’t close.’
Thus, after giving young Mo Mo a small gift a few times, Mo Mo always had to ask Qin Chu if she could accept the gift and would only accept it after he said “yes”.
To avoid this unspeakable frustration and the trouble of young Mo Mo having to ask Qin Chu every time, everyone decided that it would be better to give it in Qin Chu’s name privately if they were to give something to Mo Mo.
So, in a sense, they had unknowingly sewed Qin Chu’s wedding dress [1] over the years.
[1] 为人作嫁衣(wèirén zuò jià yī)- Sew somebody else’s wedding dress/to do something for others with no benefit to oneself. The literal translation means that one makes wedding clothes and watches them get married happily. The deeper meaning is that one busies oneself and doesn’t gain anything. Instead, one promotes the good deeds of others.
Translator’s Note: The title could also mean “Lust After Her.”
