The Jijiiâs house is on the outskirts of town. Forsome reason or another, itâs a strange building. Something that looks like a chimney is on theoutside and connects to something that looks like a furnace.
Whatis this place? Seriously, Jijii, whatkinda person are you?
I say, âAlright, with this done, weâll begoing.â
The Jijii says, âWait, wait, wait, wait! Stay forsome tea!â
âPass, weâve got other stuff taâŚâ
The Jijii pushes us inside as he says, âItâs fine, itâs fine! Come in!â
Dang,this Jijiiâs pushy.
Various things are placed around insidethe Jijiiâs house. I see things like weapons and armor here andthere.
The Jijii says, â Oh , something catch youreye? As you can see, Iâve been ablacksmith for many years! Well then,itâs time I introduce myself. My name isElji!â
âCall me Zero and this place is prettykickinâ. As a man, this is what I livefor.â
âMy name is Grace. This is a pleasure to meet you.â
â Umu ,a pleasure to meet both of you as well! Still, this is what you live for?! I understandwhat you mean!â
Gusu-oyake sips tea as me and El-jijii [1] get excited. Her eyes show that sheisnât following in the slightest.  Well, this ainât something women and children get.
Either way, someone like this El-jijii ispretty weird, if I say so myself.
The Jijii says, âI see now! Are my two lordsadventurers? Pick out some weapons andarmor and consider it my gratitude! So,how long you going to be in town for?â
Adventurers? Nope, donât know that word. Maybe I should ask Gusu-oyake about it later.
Gusu-oyake says, âNo, we actually plan onleaving tomorrowâŚâ
â Mu ,that how it is? In that case, I wonât beable to make any deliveries. No matter, you can just take a look at my warehouse instead.â
I say, âNo, thereâs no way I can acceptsomething like that. This tea isenough.â
El-jijii is shocked by my words. He then begins to laugh. âStraight forward youngsters like you are ararity nowadays! I like it! Name your request! With these arms of mine, Iâll make sure youreceive it! Count on it!â
âNo, thatâsâŚâ
Elâjijii ignores our words, and whilesaying, âItâs fine, itâs fine,â takes us to his warehouse. The number of weapons and armor in his housedonât come anywhere close to the amount here.
I say, âAmazingâŚâ
â Ka kka kka ! [2] Go on in and take a look!â
âNo, we donât have enough money.â
Gusu-oyake says, âZero-san, accept hisgenerous offer. I regards to money, Ihave plenty.â
Thatâsnot good, Gusu-oyake. Iâll need to paythat back one day.
Despite my thoughts, El-jijii getsangry. âI-di-ot! Something like that! You think I want money!? That Iâd demand payment from my benefactor!?â
âEru-jijiiâŚÂ Thanks man, I mean it.â
â Kakka kka kka !â
IfEl-jijii is gonna go that far, then I have to accept his generosity. So, what should I pick?
I say, âSo, got any recommendations?â
âA recommendation? Well, everything! âŚIs what I want to say, but thatâsuseless. How do you usually fight?â
Howdo I fight? Iâm something like abrawler?
With that in mind, I give a quick, âI likepunching and kicking my enemies without a care in the world. After that, I guess Iâd like to be able towalk around without any trouble?â
â Fumu ,in that case, light armor sounds like a good fit. As for the sizeâŚâ El-jijii presents a sort of mannequin inarmor. âHow about this? Try it on!â
He takes the armor and straps it to mybody. The gauntlets and leg armor are aperfect fit. Thereâs even a chest piece.
I say, â Ooh , this is great. It ainâtheavy at all. No trouble movingwhatsoever.â
âGood, good! Although, your abdomen and back are a bitexposed. Ya want some more protection?â
âNo, this mobility is good. I like it!â
Gusu-oyake says, âZero-san, you lookgreat!â
Getting wrapped up in silver gear reallyfires me up some reason. My tension isjust spiking.
El-jijii says, âHow about yourweapon? Tell me what you need!â
Aweapon? An idea did pop up while I wasgetting into armor.
I say, âYou might not have it, but issaying it still fine?â
âDonât mind it! Donât mind it! You can say anything!â
âIn that case, itâs gotta be somethinglight and solid.â
â Hou ! Is it a sword? A spear? No, I see youâve got a stone ax there. Then, do you want an ax?!â
âCan I get a pipe?â
⌠Ahre? Whyâd everyone get quiet? Something happen?
Gusu-oyake says,âZero-saaaaaaaan!? Isthis not a weaponâs shop!? Pipes arenâtweapons!?â
â Ahh ? Iâm pretty sure pipes are weaponsâŚ?â
âThey arenât! Not one bit!   Seeeeeeriouslyyyyy!â
Sheâswrong, pipes are weapons. Bats areweapons too. Or maybe somethingâs wrongwith this world?
El-jijii, however, starts to laugh. â Kufuu kufuu ha ha ha ha ha ha ! Apipe?! Youâreseriously one strange kid. Understood! If thatâs what you want, then Iâll make oneat once!â
âYouâll make me one? What about the time?â
âWhat? Something like that wonât take long at all. Just tell me how long you want me to make itand wait!â
I tell El-jijii what he needs to know andhe immediately gets to work.
He says, âItâll take about one hour to finish. Feel free to wait or do something to killtime!â
âRight, what do you think, Gusu-oyake?â
âHmm, what to doâŚÂ We already finished our shopping, so how aboutwe go get something to eat?â
âGot it.â
Me and Gusu-oyake leave El-jijiiâs place andhit the town to grab a bite. The chibiseemed interested in El-jijiiâs work, so they stayed behind to watch. Since it looked dangerous, I warned themabout keeping a safe distance. Theyresponded with sharp nods.
Seriously, those guys are great at understanding others.
We get a light meal and then move ontobrowsing stores for some bandages. Gusu-oyaka says something along the lines of, âYou need bandages?â
They ainât for injuries.
Well, thatâs more or less how we spent ourhour.
El-jijii says, âFinished!â
I say, â Eh , youâre done already?â
âSomething like this is easy!â
Iâm given a pipe with a dim, azure, shine.
Whatis this? Itâs super light!
I test it out by swinging it around andhitting the ground, but itâs totally fine.
âWicked! Just listen to that chime!â
â Kakka kka . I reckon this is the bestpipe in the world!â
Mn? Gusu-oyake has been quite for a whilenow. Whyâs she just staring at me for?
She says, â Ano , Elji-san, is that pipe perhaps⌠mithril?â
â Hoo ! Youâre well informed. Itâs as you suspect!â
â Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh !?â
I say, âMithril? Whatâs mithril?â
âAn outrageously expensive mineral thatâsboth infinitely lighter and more durable than iron! Something thatâs used by organizations likethe Chivalric Order to create armor and weapons for their knights!? You used that to make a pipe?!?â
U-uh? Like hell I get what any of thatmeans, but Iâm pretty sure making a pipe out of that was flat out ridiculous.
I say, âI donât really get it, but is thisokay?â
âDonât worry, donât worry! Like I said, I like you! Use this as you like!â
Hehee,my bad.
I wrap the bandages around the mithrilpipeâs handle.
Great,now itâs perfect.
Gusu-oyake says, â Ooh , so thatâs why you bought bandages.â
âExactly! Now itâs complete! Itâsamazing! My tension is bursting throughthe roof!â
âI- I understand. Please keep from swinging it around.â
I stop at Gusu-oyakeâs request and then, together with El-jijii, go back to his place for some grub.
I say, âThanks a lot. Iâll use that pipe well.â
â Kakka kka , come back any time if thereâs ever any trouble! I fix it right up! And if you ever need more weapons, Iâll makethem for ya! Today was a blast!â
Gusu-oyake says, âFor real, for real real, thank you so much.â
El-jijii sees me and Gusu-oyake off and wereturn to the inn. Tomorrow weâll besearching for spirits.
Thatâsgot a nice ring to it.
