Chapter 17.1 – Forty Thousand
Su Yan didn’t expect her silly Baitian’s mouth to be so fast, and she felt annoyed in her heart. ‘Why didn’t I tell him not to say so much in advance?’
If her parents knew that she had been staying at a male friend’s house for the past few days, they would definitely keep asking questions, and maybe they would misunderstand that there was an improper relationship between her and Bai Xingfan.
“How did he tell you?” Su Yan asked her mother with doubt in her heart.
“He said a big package will be mailed to our home, and if he is not at home, let us check it carefully. And it is a bear,” Li Xiang replied.

Liu Xiang: “Then he went out, saying he was going to buy a cage for his bear.”
Su Yan: “Nothing else?”
“No, that’s all he said.” Liu Xiang looked worried. “Yanyan, he won’t raise bears at home, will he? This is not going to work! Whether we support him or not, the property manager definitely will not agree to it. Bears are so dangerous that they must not be kept as pets.”

Their mother didn’t have any understanding about those building-block bears, so she just referred to all building-block bears as “teddy bears,” the big ones being big teddy bears, and the small ones being little teddy bears.
Su Yan smiled and nodded. “Yes. It’s that kind of big teddy bear.”
Liu Xiang said helplessly, “He already has so many bears and why does he need more? If he adds more, no one will be able to enter that room!”
Su Yan shrugged. “What to do! Your son likes them.”
“It’s a waste of money. By the way, he said that this bear is very valuable, and it costs tens of thousands. How could he accept such an expensive price? He can’t take such expensive things from others. Why didn’t you stop him? ” Liu Xiang was annoyed.
‘Judging from the current market situation, ordinary building block bears cost 20,000 to 30,000 yuan. As this was a limited edition one, it would be more expensive than ordinary ones.’ Su Yan pondered for a while before replying to her mother.

“When Su Zhan comes home, I’ll talk to him. How can he accept such an expensive thing? I really don’t know what he was thinking,” Liu Xiang said with a frown.
Su Yan continued unconvinced. “You are used to him! Anyway, you don’t have to scold him, he has already accepted it, so you can’t let him return it.”

Su Yan put down her phone and nodded. “Don’t worry, I have enough money.”
Because Su Yan was a screenwriter, whose income was not very stable, her mother was often worried that she did not have enough money to spend. Su Yan realised what was going on after hearing her mother’s words. “The couple came to show off to you again?”
“The admission notice has arrived yesterday,” Liu Xiang said in an irritated tone. “How could that couple’s stinky behaviour be held back? They have announced it to the whole world.”
Su Yan: “Don’t talk to them!”
“I don’t want to speak to them either, but isn’t your grandma’s 70th birthday coming up soon? When the whole family comes that day, there will definitely be a lot of nonsense. Maybe your grandma will add fuel to the flames. Huh, that old lady, we mother and daughter are not pleasing to the eyes.”
Liu Xiang had long-standing grievances against her mother-in-law, and she couldn’t bring herself to tell her husband or son about them; she could only grumble back to her daughter.
“This old lady is a complete white-eyed wolf,” Su Yan said angrily. “How can she forget who has been caring for her for so long? She still has such a soft spot for her younger son. Has she forgotten how they treated her and us back then?”
Her father and her uncle were the only children her grandma and grandfather had during their lifetimes. When Grandpa passed away, her grandma was in her thirties. She never remarried and raised the two children alone.
