âWhy do I keep having these terrible dreams!â
Kylian looked at me bewilderedly, and my anger grew even more intense. Of course he was being much nicer than I expected. Thatâs why I was convinced that it was definitely a dream.
Friends from my previous life have said itâs not a good thing to meet your bias since it would be rather disappointing. In the end, the person I love the most was still of course a person, so there will be a lot of different sides of them outside of my preconceived notions.
Even so, as I continued to watch Kylian from the sidelines, there was never a time that he let me down. Instead of that, he was someone who aroused my terrible greed the more I stayed beside him. Maybe if I had given up on that greed, I might have been able to let everything flow like the original story.
But then he would have suffered according to the original story, and he would have grown up amid desperate situations like how he did in the original story. So I decided to twist the original, then Iâd give up on everything later. When Lilith finally appears.
âDo I only ever appear in your terrible dreams?â
âHoh, Kylian, why are you talking to me so casually now! Youâve always just been coldly respectful before though?â
It was like that. After our engagement ceremony, we naturally began to talk respectfully to each other. He acted like he was trying to distance himself from me, and I followed after his lead, too.
They said that dreams are a reflection of the subconscious. Still, this is such a terrible dream. Besides, seeing him speak casually to me, I may have subconsciously wished we could go back to our childhoodâback when he was less distant from me.
He had changed a little since the last time I saw him. His golden eyes, shining like the sun, became clearer, and his muscular body became more ripped than before. His face was originally handsome, but now he looked pale as if he had lost weight.
Maybe I was subconsciously hoping that my death would be a little hard on Kylian.
âIf you prefer that, I will speak respectfully again, Wife.â
Even this part. Seeing that this hasnât changed, itâs clear that this was still a dream.
Suddenly my vision became a mess, like paint mixed together. Then, everything went dark, so it was obviously a silly dream. In the back of my mind, I felt a bit disappointed. It seemed like I was actually looking forward to seeing that dream.
It was Lewarrenâs voice. If he called me Lilith, it was clear that it wasnât just the two of us.
My body was wet like chewed gum again, but I was shaking with pain. Surprisingly, a wave of unbearable sadness washed over me and tears trickled down my eyes. I didnât even have the strength to raise my arms, so I couldnât wipe the tears away. My eyes were clouded with tears, but I could see the men in black robes standing in front of me.
âWake up, Lilith Isadora.â
Come to think of it, I remembered that I passed out during an important ceremony. With my vision brightened like this, it seemed like there was a light turned directly in my direction. I thought it would be dark everywhere because the priests of death didnât like bright places, but that didnât seem like the case here.
âGoddess Juliasâ saint.â
âThatâs right. Thatâs me.â
The priests of death tilted their heads to the side, puzzled by my answer before continuing.
âHis Majesty wanted her to be found, itâs good.â
âLeviathan, how did you get her?â
Lewarren did not answer again.
âStop it. Bishop Leviathan only speaks when he wants to.â
âI canât believe the saint walked in on her feet.â
âStill, report to His Majesty that we found her with great difficulty.â
âThat would be great.â
They put their heads together for a while, arguing with each other. So they originally were looking for Lilith, and I came into the Imperial Palace without knowing anything. Meanwhile, I fainted and had another strange dream. I got caught, but Lewarren didnât.
I was thinking of revealing Lewarrenâs identity as well, but I held my tongue while clutching onto my last remaining shred of humanity.
I couldnât even move my body properly, so I was forced to stand up. I moved away from the cold touch of the floor, but Lewarrenâs hand that pulled me up was very cold. He was wearing a hood all the way up, so I couldnât see his eyes. However, those with divine power were able to gauge the otherâs divine power to some extent. Other priests would have thought that Lewarren was also a priest.
Of course I donât know how to do that. However, I could guess that it was Lewarren because I knew the distinct strong scent of perfume from Lewarren.
Lewarren draped me over his shoulders like a bale to take me. The other priests seemed to be following him, but he turned around for a moment and beckoned to them.
âI will take her to His Majesty. Do not disturb us.â
My chin slammed against his back, and every step Lewarren took made me feel like Iâm having motion sickness. The priests in the distance were looking this way with their bright red eyes shining.
In the meantime, the blue hair flowing down was annoying and it was troubling. Even though itâs so dark, itâs still such a vivid blue shade, so itâs definitely noticeable.
âIf you are going to His Majesty, letâs go together.â
The man who appeared from nowhere also had red eyes. Come to think of it, he seemed to be the same person we had met in the emperorâs bedroom. He had the same voice
âI would like to make a contribution as soon as I arrive. But by what means did you bring the saint back to her feet? Did she hallucinate again?â
It certainly didnât seem like a normal priestâs uniform. As far as I know, I remembered that the rank would be quite high enough in any temple to get to wear a stole.
âWhy is His Majesty taking these women?â
I just asked in between the awkward atmosphere. No matter how brazen Lewarren was, any further interrogation or questioning was going to get us into a dangerous situation. Iâd rather get the manâs attention and divert him to another topic.
âYou said you were a saint, were you an idiot?â
âYouâre a bishop, but your personality is dirty. I heard that your God only accepts people from the bottom of humanity, is that true?â
Even though it was an insult to me, I just laughed.
Perhaps out of annoyance, he took off the hood he was wearing on his head, revealing his pure white hair. Iâve never seen anyone with such white hair. My original body had platinum blonde hair, but even then, everyone praised me for it being as white as snow.
But this manâs hair was really completely white.
âYouâre really not going to tell me?â
âWhat will you give me in return for an answer?â
âI donât know. Your body?â
âYou are the saint of goddess Julias. I canât wait to see how much power the god of death will give me just by offering you. And weâve met before, havenât we?â
Suddenly, I felt sorry for Lilith. I feel like Iâve needlessly drawn the attention of someone insane to her.
But by the time Lilith finds out everything and becomes furious by this, I would have gone to the underworld and received a new life. And Iâm sure that good Lilith would forgive me this much.
I didnât have anything to say, so I just laughed to my heartâs content, and he laughed slyly too. The mean-looking thing looked just like a snake.
âHis Majesty is not in the bedroom. To get there, you have to go to the main hall over there.â
With his directions, I realized that we had gone the opposite direction. My limbs were shaking a lot, but luckily the motion sickness seemed to be getting better. As my body began to move more and more, I looked at the white-haired snake-like man, and he smiled.
âWhat is your position?â
âWhat about this one?â
I asked, pointing to Lewarren, and he said.
âThen what about the people who were there earlier?â
Surprisingly, he answered me.
âWhy did you take the women earlier?â
âIf I tell you that, will you give me your body?â
If he wasnât the bishop of the god of death, I might have praised him for his shamelessness. By the way, I realized that heâs wearing a bishopâs uniform. The priestâs uniform was simple, while a bishopâs uniform was quite splendid.
At that moment, Lewarren, who had been quiet, opened his mouth.
âYouâll find out when you get to His Majesty anyway, Lilith.â
Lewarren knew for sure. Otherwise, it didnât make sense that he did not panic like me. The women were all wearing the same clothes. Besides, I was sure that they were taking vitality, but why do they need that power?
Are they really stocking up on that power to revive me? To kill me again after reviving me?
âI canât believe he hates me that much.â
âNo, Iâm just talking to myself.â
Did he loathe to continue living while being indebted to me? Itâs understandable that he hated it. After all, there had been many days when I tormented him. Even if I was trying to help Kylian, he might not have known.
Besides, this was Kylian weâre talking about. He couldnât even kill a spider, which he hated so terribly, even when I put one on his head. He was a kind and tender person, yet he was going through the extent of sucking the vitality of living people to sacrifice and offer the imperial palace to God.
Even if the capital and other cities were fine, it was clear that the imperial palace was not fine.
Perhaps, as I was really concerned, he may be making a deal with the god of death within the imperial palace, and this might just be for the purpose of stabilizing the people of the capital to carry out his will.
How could he hate me that much?
No, letâs not think about it. The past cannot be undone, and he just hates me, whether Iâm dead or alive.
The way he greeted me in my dream was only the figure that I wanted. Letâs accept it.
âInform His Majesty.â
The uniform of a different set of knights who were guarding the door stood out from the gatekeepers. When they opened the door, Lewarren dropped me off. I seemed to have found the strength to walk. Because I was able to walk even though I was toddling around.
There was a âclickâ and the doorkeeper went inside. Then, after hearing a faint voice inside, he came out.
When he opened the door, my eyes were dazzled and I couldnât see for a while. Itâs like when youâve been in a burrow for a long time and then you see the sunlight.
âI have caught Lilith Isadora.â
âJust in time. I need her.â
When I opened my eyes, all that I saw was Kylian.
But I couldnât say anything. He was holding a woman on the floor with some strange magic circles painted on.
I looked closely at the womanâs face, and it was an unforgettable face. The womanâs face is my second life, my original body. It was Anais Percival.
Kylianâs eyes contain a dreaded madness, terrifying like a true madman beyond return.
âAnais will wake up soon.â
He said, smiling like a child receiving a present he wanted.
