When he said to go underground, she immediately agreed and she was very obedient. Jiang Yuan secretly complained in her heart, in order to stay by his side, could she have another choice and not to listen to him?
She didn’t reply to him but put down her phone and silently bowed her head down to eat.
Zhong Jing sent another message: After getting off work, wait for me in the parking lot and I will take you to a place.
Jiang Yuan replied to him: I have a product packaging design to do today and the project team is in a hurry so I may get off work a little later today.
Zhong Jing: I will wait for you.
Jiang Yuan: Okay.
After a while, Linda came back and brought the steak that had just been fried for Zhongjing and served him with a sweet smile: “Mr. Zhong, here is your steak.”
“Thank you.”
Linda also sat down alongside Zhongjing and the three of them ate together.
Linda was the kind of person who could warm up a crowd. She chattered a lot by herself and the other two occasionally responded with a laugh so the meal was not awkward and cold.
After eating, Zhong Jing left first.
Linda held her face and smiled shyly, “Jiang Yuan, do you think Xiao Zhong is interested in me?”
Jiang Yuan pouted and said, “He came to sit with us so maybe he is interested in me.”
“Cut!” Linda looked at her then poked her head and brought up her unfashionable clothes, “Look at you, Xiao Jiang is so beautiful that he doesn’t even look at you, he will like you? Stop daydreaming.”
“Aren’t you daydreaming too?!” Jiang Yuan replied in an impolite manner.
“You—” Linda gritted her teeth in anger, “Little girl, you learned how to talk back to your sister now, come here, I promise I won’t kill you.”
“Haha…” Jiang Yuan laughed and ran away, “I don’t want to, I’m going back to work!”
Linda reminded her from behind: “Remember to bring lunch for your boss!”
“I already did, I din’t forget! I will go now!”
Jiang Yuan returned with the lunch box she brought for Zhong Ze to the fifth floor.
Every day after lunch, she would bring one for Zhong Ze. Before she came, others colleagues brought it for him but after she came, it was her responsibility.
Today, because of Zhong Jing, she came back a little later than usual.
“I’m sorry, Vice President Zhong, I am a little late today.” She apologized and opened the lunch box for Zhong Ze then took out the chopsticks and ladle and put them on the table in front of him.
“Okay.” Zhong Ze replied without much expression.
Jiang Yuan didn’t care about his cold voice, he was much easier to get along with now than when he used to lose his temper and scold people.
Moreover, she had now found a way to make Zhong Ze happy, that was, flattering.
Once when she showed Zhong Ze the design draft, he helped her point out a small problem caused by her carelessness and she exclaimed, “Ah, fortunately, you saw it otherwise I will die if I print it out! Vice President Zhong, you have a good eye!”
Zhong Ze responded indifferently but she found that Zhong Ze was in a good mood all day and the corners of his mouth rose slightly.
As if she was enlightened, she found a way to get along with Zhong Ze.
Now every day she would actively praise him on everything, from clothing to hairstyle to temperament to complexion and what he had done. Even if he stayed there and didn’t do nothing, she must think of ways to compliment him, racking her brains to do so.
Her praise was different from how fans fantasized about idols, it was much more difficult. She had to praise him sincerely, she had to praise him from the heart, she couldn’t exaggerate it too much and she couldn’t let him feel that it was against her heart.
Like now.
What she brought back was white rice and vegetables. Today’s dish included pan-fried octopus, chicken fillet and some vegetables. In addition, she also brought back a small bowl of freshly sliced oranges.
After she set it up in front of him, he picked up his chopsticks to eat.
Zhong Ze’s eating was very elegant. Even when he was eating food like fish, he didn’t feel crude at all. He would put a tissue to his mouth to spit out the spines on it. The rice ball in his mouth was not too big and the small side dishes were chewed slowly and then slowly swallowed.
“Vice President Zhong, you have good dining ettiquette, you eat so well!” she continued, “Every time I eat with my mother, she always tells me that girls should eat in small bites and not like a starving ghost, haha. Actually, it was habit of eating fast that I developed during my years of high school with heavy study load so it’s hard to change it.”
Zhong Ze replied, “You’d better change it, eating too fast is bad for the stomach.”
Jiang Yuan smiled, it was not easy to go from him not saying a word when she complimented him to him responding to her now. She felt that flattery was really useful, it not only effectively improved her working environment but also helped Zhong Ze rebuild his self-confidence.
She echoed: “Yes, you’re right.”
She accompanied Zhong Ze to dinner and handed him a glass of water. After Zhong Ze finished eating, she helped him pack up and asked, “Are you going to paint in the afternoon?
” Yes.”
Painting was also a new hobby that Jiang Yuan helped Zhong Ze to develop through her flattery. She accidentally saw one of his sketches and she desperately praised him for his good drawing and encouraged him to resume his hobby. With good painting skills, Zhong Ze now painted in his office when he had nothing to do.
In addition to passing the time, it could be considered finding a little value in his life which was good.
“Then I’ll go to work first, call me if you need anything.”
“Yeah.”
Jiang Yuan didn’t finish her work until 5:40 and after sending the final draft to the manufacturer, she turned off the computer and got off work and suddenly remembered—
Zhong Jing!
He told her to go to the parking lot after getting off work but she completely forgot about it.
She hurriedly rushed to the underground elevator and looked around for a while but she didn’t see his car. She wondered if he had gotten tired of waiting and left or if he was still working overtime and didn’t get off work yet.
She was about to use her mobile phone to send him a message when someone grabbed her elbow from behind and pulled her. She was pulled around and turned directly into a pair of angry and gloomy eyes, “Making me wait for so long? Huh?”
Jiang Yuan explained, “I was in a hurry to finish the draft, I’m
sorry—”
Zhong Jing hugged her halfway and sighed, “Okay, don’t explain, I’m starving to death, let’s go.”
He pulled her towards his car and Jiang Yuan followed him – the man’s legs were so long that she couldn’t keep up.
Han Qiming and Shen Cong were not there and Zhong Jing drove the car himself. Jiang Yuan went to the co-pilot and sat down then buckled her seat belt and looked at his angered profile and asked carefully, “Where are we going?”
The man turned on the engine and said: “You will find out when we get there.” The car sped off.
Zhong Jing had asked Han Qiming to help him buy a property, a small villa and a single-family building in the community in a place detached from the city center. The environment was quiet and full of trees so the occupancy rate was not high and there were not many people along the way when the car drove in.
When he got there, Zhong Jing stopped the car then went to the door and pressed the code and the door opened.
“Come in.” He greeted Jiang Yuan at the back.
The decoration inside was extravagant and gorgeous and when Jiang Yuan walked in, she couldn’t help but slow down. Everything she saw was exquisite and luxurious, she pursed her lips and for the first time she had a deep and strong awareness of their difference in class.
She and him were like people from two worlds – well, let’s be realistic and drop the word “like”.
“Can you cook?” he asked her.
“Huh? – Yes.”
“Do it then, there are ingredients in the refrigerator.”
“Okay.”
Jiang Yuan’s mother was very good in cooking and she inherited the cooking genes so even if her skills couldn’t keep up with the chefs but she could indeed cook well. She took some ingredients from the refrigerator and made three dishes and one soup in half an hour.
After she was done, she brought out the food and called Zhong Jing to come over to eat. The two sat in a right angle on the long dining table in the dining room. Zhong Jing, who was sitting in the upper position saw the dish she had made and twitched the corner of his mouth, “It looks good.”
Jiang Yuan smiled, “Try it.”
Zhong Jing took a bite and nodded, “Yeah, it tastes good. I’ve waited so long so this meal makes up for half of it.”
Half? Jiang Yuan frowned at him.
The man’s eyes were narrowed but his tone was serious, “Well, half of it has to be made up in the bedroom later.”
