As the sun went down, I could see the city at the end of the road.
From what I have found out earlierâŚ
âThatâs probably Hirschfield. Weâre just in time, letâs go in.â
âMu? Weâre going in?â
âOf course, I want to sleep on a bed,â [7] I said firmly.
ââIf we stop here, weâll be late for the dungeon!!ââ [7] Dora-chan cried.
âDora is right, we should keep moving.â
[8] Tch, looks like Iâll have to convince these two somehow.
âNo, no, we canât skip this city. Didnât we promise the Adventurers Guild that weâll stop by each major city to check on their requests? Itâs only polite.â Plus, I wanted to rest, but letâs not bring that up just yet.
âMuuuâŚâ
ââMmmmâŚ.ââ
[8] âMoreover, we can take our time and have a good meal. We can also get ourselves a nice big bath [5] too,â I said coaxingly.
âA good meal? How good?â asked Fer suspiciously.
[8] âIâll make something you never had before~â
âHmmâŚâ
[6] Well, thatâs Fer half convinced.
âDora-chan, donât you feel uncomfortable? Donât you want to soak away the dust and cramps in your body in a nice hot bath?â
ââKuhâŚfine!ââ
âIt had better be something I never had before.â
[8] Fufufu, I had them.
Please read this at kitchennovel dot com ~
I plopped myself in the huge clawfoot chair in the living room. Woah, itâs cushy~
I raised my arms and stretched backwards, arching my back.
âPhew~ I can finally sleep in a bed tonight~â
[5a] As usual, I rented a house from the Merchantâs Guild. For the sake of a huge bath, we ended up renting a 12LDK mansion, which was totally too big for us, but thanks to my familiars, I can splurge on things like this casually~
ââAruji~~ Food~~?ââ
Ah.
âYou promised something I never had before,â
ââWell, I guess Iâm hungry too,ââ
ââŚâ Canât you guys just let me rest for a moment?
[5] âOi!â
âYes, yes, Fer-san. Iâm getting up.â
[8] While I did promise Fer that I would make him something ânewâ. That doesnât mean I have to make it from scratch.
Letâs see, what do I have hereâŚ? [5]
[8] Well, I still have a lot of karaage left. While Iâm sure everyone still likes fried chicken, we had been having a lot of fried food recently.
HmmâŚ
Alright, letâs make Youlinji, or, in this case, Mock Youlinji. [5b]
I heaved myself out of the chair and headed for the kitchen. Woah, itâs super luxurious, too bad Iâm only making Youlinji sauce today.
[10] To make the sauce, I would need grated white onions, garlic, and ginger as well as soy sauce, vinegar, water, sesame oil and honey. Well, since Iâm super lazy today, I bought tubed grated garlic and ginger. The recipe usually uses sugar, but I happened to have some honey at hand, so letâs use that instead.
A taste test later, hmm, could use a little more vinegar. [5]
Right, once the sauce was properly balanced, I set it in a pot to simmer, allowing the ingredients to meld together and thicken a little.
Meanwhile, I cut up some lettuce into 1cm wide pieces and soak them in cold water. This would crisp up the vegetables, [6] which was a nice kitchen hack I learned from my previous restaurant job.
Once the vegetables were soaked and drained, I arranged them on wide plates. The key to serving leftovers is presentation. Fufufu, the bright orange Youlinji would look very nice against a crisp green background.
Just before serving, I tossed the still warm Karaage (taken from my very convenient time stop [Item Box]) in the Youlinji sauce and tumbled them onto the bed of lettuce.
I had made a large pot of sauce, knowing my familiarâs appetite. I have a sneaking feeling they would be eating more than usual today.
âDinner is done!â
[8] âHm? Isnât this just fried bird meat? [8]â
âItâs Karaage with a very refreshing sauce. Completely different, give it a try.â
Fer visibly wrinkled his nose at the sight of the lettuce, but chomped a large mouthful. It was followed by a lot more chomps.
ââFried bird is good, but fried bird in this sauce is delicious!ââ [3] Dora-chanâs paws were all sticky from holding the pieces of sauce-covered Karaage.
ââSui likes the tingly taste~~ââ [5]
âSeconds!â
[6] âOf course,â I said, a little smugly as I tossed more Karaage in the sauce. My lips may or may not be sticky from the Mock Youlinji too.
My familiars could really eat, but regardless of how delicious the Mock Youlinji was, it only made me crave rice! Rice is justice!
After dinner was dessert time. Fer and Dora-chan had their usual favourites while Sui chose to have chocolate cake this time. I was too stuffed for sweets and had a cup of tea instead.
âLetâs go to the Adventurerâs Guild after breakfast,â I said, sure that itâs safe for me to talk now that my familiars were nice and full.
âMu? For a mission?â [5]
ââWhy canât we just go to the dungeonâŚââ Dora-chan pouted.
âWell, itâs part of our duty. Who knows, we might pick up something interesting for you to fight.â
ââI guessâŚââ [5]
ââSui will defeat them all!!ââ
âAh~ Sui-tan is the best~â
After dinner was over and the plates put away, it was time for our bath. I had paid for this stupidly large mansion for its bath, so letâs make full use of it.
âIâm not going, lay out my futon for me,â commanded Fer.
âYes, yes, you donât know what youâre missing, thatâs what,â I teased.
âHumph,â
After laying out the futon for Fer in the master bedroom, I headed to the bath with Sui and Dora-chan. [5] [5]
Aahhh, the perks of being richâŚ
Letâs soak away the travel fatigue together~
[Gumihou: âŚaaannndd Mukouda just lost his OOCness in this chapter. This is the reason why I cut off bits of his hyaaa!! and kyaa!! moments. Because itâs just not sustainable. Le idiot moments were the deviation, author-san probably ran out of ideas and just powered through the chapters until this moment]

[8] Creative Licence Taken â Mukouda, as a white-collar worker and master of these familiars, should be good in the art of coaxing toddlers. Added the âsomething newâ element to explain later actions.
[9] Youlinji or yourinji is represented by the kanji 沚ćˇéś
Technically, this means it could be pronounced as either yourinji or youlinji since the Japanese language doesnât distinguish between ârâ and âlâ. I opted for âYoulinjiâ since it produces hits for the actual recipe, whereas yourinji gets me nothing.

Recipe by actual Japanese, its BG is damned noisy thoughâŚ
[10] Just, readjust the cooking method so that it makes sense.
