I could see the familiar cityscape from between the open gates.
âThe city of Carelina⌠Alright, letâs hurry up and go inside,â
âUmuâ
ââOu!ââ
Fer trotted into the City of Carelina with me on his back. [2] Dora-chan was flying alongside as usual while Sui napped inside the leather bag.
The gatekeeper was a little surprised to see Fer but luckily recognised him from the last time we were here. [1] He was allowed in but I had to show them my golden S Rank card for Dora-chan to come with us.
Hurrah for the power of S Rank cards!
As I travelled along a familiar street, I had the feeling of homecoming. [1] This was the first major city I visited that welcomed me properly. It was also the first city where I stayed for quite a while.
I have lots of good memories here.
âAlright, letâs go greet the people at the Adventurerâs Guild!â [5]

The receptionist at the Adventurerâs Guild recognised me immediately. She shot to her feet the moment we stepped in and began to laugh. She sounded kind of nervous.
Um, Receptionist-san, surely you donât have to be so anxious?
Just then, a muscular and energetic old man stepped out. [5]
It was Willem-san, the Guild Master. [5]
âOho, itâs been a long time!â
âAh, yes, long time no see.â
[8] âI heard youâve ranked up. An S Ranker now, eh?â
âYes, Iâve also picked up a new familiar. Please meet Dora-chan. Dora-chan, please come out.â
For some reason, Dora-chan was stuck to the back of my head. [1] I donât know what heâs doing but his nails are digging into my head and it hurtsâŚ
âErm, heâs a Pixie DragonâŚâ
âHahah! Youâve finally gotten yourself a dragon familiar!â [5] [9] He squinted his eyes, âWhere on earth did you get a baby dragon though?â
âHeâs not a baby dragon. Thatâs what an adult Pixie Dragon looks like.â
âGahaha! [9] I can imagine the reaction of a certain guild master about that!â Willem-san laughed.
[9] Meanwhile, Dora-chan clung harder to my head. Was he so badly traumatised by Elland-san that he now developed a phobia against guild masters? I could only laugh helplessly as I tried to detach Dora-chanâs claws from my hair.
âHey, dragons aside, just walking around with three familiars is alread a very rare thing,â commented Willem-san.
âReally? I guess so⌠hahaha,â I deflected with a stupid laugh. Speaking of which, he does have a point there. [9] Iâve seen Adventurers with familiars before but they usually only have one large monster or two small ones with them. I've never seen anyone with three monsters aside from myself.
âI look forward to working with you while youâre here,â [9] said Willem as he patted my shoulder. âItâs good to have you with us.â
âI look forward to working with you too,â I said. âI plan to stay here for a bit and, [4] oh, I have need some dismantling service too.â [5]
[4] âOh? I suppose youâll want all the meat again?â
[4] âYes, Iâd recently learned how to dismantle monsters, but Iâm afraid the larger monsters are beyond my skills for now.â [5]
âI see, Iâm sure we can do something about that. Letâs head over to the warehouse.â [5]

We trailed after the Guild Master to the warehouse.
[9] Willem-san threw open the door and yelled out, âOu, Johan, I brought someone to see you! Someone we havenât seen for a long time!â
At the Guild Masterâs call, a muscular middle-aged man stuck out his bald head and laughed, âOooh! Brother! Itâs been a long time. Are you here for business? Did you bring me something interesting to hone my skills?â
[6] âAh⌠not reallyâŚâ [5]
âAlright, show me what youâve got.â
I obliged and brought out the following:
Wyvern x 8
Wild Bison x 3
Golden Sheep x 3
Giant Horned Boar x 1
Rock Bird x 2
Blue Bull x 10
Giant Turkey x 3
The Giant Horned Boar was the size of a mini truck, [8] and not something I feel confident about handling. Also, I have a lot of Blue Bulls and took out only 10 of them this time. These two alone should yield a lot of meat.
âOh, Wyverns and Golden Sheep! And thatâs a Giant Horned Boar! As expected, Mukouda-san doesnât disappoint,â Johan-san looked over the monsters excitedly. [1] [3] âItâs been years since Carelinaâs guild seen a Golden Sheep or Horned Boar. These are excellent stuff.â
Iâm glad youâre happy but, âCan you handle it?â
âWhat- of course!â [6] he slapped his biceps. âMy skills are topnotch.â
âWell, if thatâs the case,â I said, feeling a little provoked, âould you handle a bit more?â
âOh? But of course,â it was the Guild Master who answered me. There was a huge grin on his face, âThanks to you weâve managed to make quite an excellent amount of money.â
âVery well,â I smiled back. âWhat about buying the ones that you couldnât back then? How about it?â
I took out the Chimera and Orthros thatâs been sleeping in my [Item Box] and looked challengingly at them.
âOh, and this one too,â I upped the ante and took out a Dim Grey Rhino as well.
â⌠âŚâ
[6] The laughing, almost jokey tone disappeared at the sight of these rare monsters. Fufufu, donât worry, my reaction was the same as yours the first time I saw these legendary monsters too.
âUmâŚâ
âWoahâŚâ
âI totally forgot you showed us the Chimera and Orthros beforeâŚâ
[6] âI must have blocked it out of my memoryâŚâ
âIs that a Dim Grey Rhino? Damn, thatâs rare too.â
âYes, well,â I cleared my throat. âFer and the others went on a hunt and brought it backâŚâ
âWhat do you think, Johan?â
âHmm, Iâve handled Dim Grey Rhinos before. As for the Chimera and Orthros⌠I guess itâs not impossible since the anatomy should be too complexâŚâ said Johan-san. He seemed to be the calmer of the two.
âUmu, weâll take the Dim Grey Rhino but Iâm afraid we could only take either the Chimera or the Orthros.â
â[5] So, youâll take one of them?â [7] I said hopefully. That will at least reduce the number of âdead stockâ in my [Item Box].
âUmuâŚâ [5]
[6] Guild Master Willem studied the two creatures with a serious face while Johan and I waited tensely.
ââTell him to take the Chimera,ââ
Eh? The Chimera?
ââUmu, we can eat the meat.ââ
Eh? Oh, right. I think Fer said something about this before but⌠could this eerie-looking monster really be eaten?â
âAhem, could Chimera be eaten?â I asked out loud.
âNot that Iâve heard of, do you know, Johan?â
âNever heard about it eitherâŚâ [5]
Well, thatâs not surprising. The people here don't seem to know that Averingâs soft-shelled turtles could be eaten either. [5]
Hmm, I guess the best way to make sure is to depend on [Appraisal].
[Chimera]
S-Rank monster. Edible. Itâs delicious whether grilled or stewed, first-rate red meat.
So, it really is edible⌠moreover, the [Appraisal] even called it first-rate red meat. Though, not that anyone could guess from its appearanceâŚ
Now that I know it could be eaten, I persuaded them to buy the Chimera. Naturally, I want the meat.
âAlright, Iâll take care of it,â [7] said Johan-san cheerfully.
âGive us four days. Iâll have the money ready for you by then,â said Willem-san.
I bade the Guild Master and Johan-san goodbye and left the Adventurerâs Guild.
Alright, letâs head over to Lambert-sanâs place next. Iâm sure heâll want to talk shampoo and soaps with me.
Also, there are some things Iâd like to consult with him.
[Gumihou: Finally, one of the creatures are taken out of the [Item Box]]
