The next morning, Rong Li left the manor. By the afternoon, Rong Chu had also gone. The events of the previous day still lingered in Rong Jun’s mind, and the emotional aftershocks were enough to give him a headache.

He tried to distract himself by focusing on something else. Sitting on the living room carpet with a thick stack of documents, he immersed himself in their dense contents just doing anything to get his mind off of things.

Yan Chen didn’t want to disturb him, but he also didn’t want to be ignored. So he quietly rested his head on Rong Jun’s lap, keeping him company.

The sudden weight disrupted Rong Jun’s focus just slightly. Smiling, he reached out to stroke Yan Chen’s soft, dark hair.

Then a few moments later, his fingers brushed against something furry as Yan Chen transformed to his half beast form, making his smile deepen.

Seeing the contented look on Rong Jun’s face, Yan Chen couldn’t help asking,“What are you looking at?”

“Information about our university’s student council and its current members.”

“Planning to join the council?”

“Well, most of the children of high-ranking officials are in it.”

Yan Chen rolled over and buried his face in Rong Jun’s abdomen.

Rong Jun had once been part of a student council. He had excelled there, eventually becoming president, surrounded by many people, including a junior he had once favored.

Yan Chen had never been able to tolerate that. The sight of Rong Jun constantly surrounded, the fear of losing him, it had driven him to act recklessly. He had used his influence to push those people away, even hurting that junior in front of Rong Jun, which ultimately led to their breakup.

This time, he wouldn’t make the same mistake.

Yan Chen turned back, snatched the documents from Rong Jun’s hands, and looked into his eyes with a meaningful smile.

“Want to hear some insider information?”

Rong Jun sensed trouble, but curiosity got the better of him.

“SM MO.”

“Qingqing, as a future politician, aren’t you being a bit naïve? Information like this requires a little bribery.”

“…” Rong Jun rolled his eyes and pinched Yan Chen’s ear. “It’s people like you who make the country so corrupt!”

Yan Chen lifted the hem of Rong Jun’s shirt, his hand sliding lightly along his waist.“So, do you still want the information?”

Rong Jun shuddered. “You really look like a sleazy old man right now.”

In the end, he gave in, leaning down to quickly kiss Yan Chen’s cheek.

“Now talk.”

“That’s not enough.”

“Greedy and insatiable.”

“Seems I have a natural talent for politics.”

“Can’t you learn from the upright ones?”

“I’ll learn later. For now, I’m more interested in accepting ‘bribes.’” Yan Chen smirked.

He shifted, pressing Rong Jun down and stealing a kiss.

“Mmm…” Rong Jun relaxed slightly, but before things could go any further—

[Knock! Knock! Knock!]

The sudden sound startled them both. They turned toward the closed door.

“Young Master,” came the butler’s voice.

“What is it?” Rong Jun asked.

“Madam invites you to her room for tea.”

Rong Jun immediately pushed Yan Chen away, straightened his clothes, and stood up.

“I’ll be back in a bit.”

“You’re leaving me alone again…” Yan Chen turned his back, his tone tinged with quiet resentment. His ears drooped, and his tail lay limp against the carpet, portraying the sight of a completely dejected puppy.

It hit Rong Jun right in the chest. A flicker of guilt crossed his face. He reached out and tugged lightly at Yan Chen’s sleeve but the sad wolf made no response.

“…We’ll continue when I get back,” Rong Jun muttered, his face flushing red.

“Okay.” Yan Chen agreed instantly, his vigor returning. He turned back and placed a light kiss on him.

“Then come back soon.”

Rong Jun: “…”

It was said that Yan Chen was very good at reading the situation and knowing when to stop.

Rong Jun ruffled his hair in frustration and said in his fiercest tone.

“Wait for me to come back!”
