The maidservant who accompanied Mo Tianliao to the Mo Palace’s door suddenly took out a tray of lingshi. “This is a gift from Milord. Please accept it.”
It was top-grade lingshi of excellent quality and there were dozens of pieces. He had used all the lingshi in the crafting room, there was really nothing left. There was no reason not to take this free money. It was just that… Mo Tianliao looked around. There were many guards in front of the Mo Palace, all standing there. Those who passed by the door could also see him. Did she want to make it look like she was dismissing a beggar, or did she want to invite disaster upon him?
After giving the maidservant a deep look, Mo Tianliao smiled. “I should thank Milord in person for his generous gift.” He finished saying this and started to go back inside.
“Ah!” The servant got a fright and stopped him at once. “Milord is busy, so thanks are not necessary.”
“I didn’t do anything to deserve it, I wasn’t able to help much. I ask big sister to please take this lingshi and give it back to Milord.” Mo Tianliao pushed aside the lingshi and left without looking back.
The maidservant stomped her feet then hurried to catch up but Mo Tianliao had already taken out his flying sword and fled on it.
“What, he didn’t take it?” Inside the Mo Palace, a somewhat fat man questioned the maidservant.
She repeated what Mo Tianliao had said verbatim and then handed the lingshi to the man.” Craftsman Luo should not take it upon himself to make decisions in the future, if Milord were to learn of this shameful incident, you and I both will end up in deep trouble.” Once she finished saying that, she left with a toss of her sleeves.
“Humph, a lowly servant actually dares to be so impertinent,” the man surnamed Luo spat at her retreating figure. He was just so angry that he wanted to humiliate the boy, who would have expected that he would not fall for it.
“She’s right. Don’t go acting on your own.” A clear voice came from behind, the man surnamed Luo froze, then turned back to see Hei Yanshi in human form looking at him coldly.
This Luo was one of the craftsmen in the Mo Palace. He usually crafted magical weapons for the Demonic Lord’s underlings. He had always wanted Shi Di to grant him an important position. When Bahuang City auctioned the divine weapon recently, he had also wanted to persuade Shi Di to buy it, so that he could study it. He had not expected a little brat who came from who knew where to steal his thunder. He could not stand it.
“My mistake.” The man surnamed Luo laughed hollowly twice and gave the tray of lingshi to Hei Yanshi. “The Beast cultivator that the Demonic Lord brought back recently…”
“None of your business, don’t go getting any ideas.” Hei Yanshi snorted coldly, pushing away the lingshi and turned to leave. As soon as he had rounded the corner, he immediately lowered his body, turned into a big black lion and zoomed towards the place where the fox was kept captive. The kitten had left, but fortunately there was still a fox to play with.
Lord Shi Di held the pig-killing knife turning it this way and that. He summoned the other two spiritual weapons and gathered them all together. An axe, a hammer, and now he had a pig-killing knife. He felt like he kept looking more and more unsophisticated.
“Roaaar” Hei Yanshi suddenly came rushing in, and, without stopping his momentum, jumped on him and yelled in Shi Di’s ear.
“Fucking noisy.” Shi Di yanked on the lion’s mane, pulled him away. “What? Didn’t I give you meat this morning?”
The lion shook his head and became a tall young man.
The maidservant came in with the wine, just in time to see Milord clutching Hei Yanshi by the hair, causing the handsome man to have to lift up his head, revealing his delicate neck, this looked like…
She hurriedly withdrew and stopped the others who tried to enter. The attendants gave each other a knowing look and stood by the door in tacit understanding of the situation.
“How many times do I have to tell you, don’t fucking pull my hair!” The lion raised a hand against his master.
Shi Di let go of his hair and said, “You’re Laozi’s lion, if I want to pull it, I’ll pull it!”
The two men stared at each other for a moment. The lion bared his teeth. “The fox is missing.”
“Missing?” Shi Di frowned, “Where did it go?”
The lion rolled his eyes. If he knew where it was, why would he have come here?!  “How should I know?”
“Can’t you track its smell?” Shi Di put away his spiritual weapons and called the subordinates outside.
“I’m not a dog!” The lion became angry and threw himself at him, trying to bite him on the head. Shi Di easily pushed him down on the throne. The lion turned his head, trying to bite his ass, which scared Shi Di into hastily turning over and holding down the lion’s arms.
When several underlings came in, they saw this scene of the Demonic Lord pressing his demonic pet down on the throne, they hurriedly lowered their heads. They pretended like they hadn’t seen anything.
“The fox?” Shi Di asked while holding down his lion.
“Answering Milord, your subordinates are searching throughout the Mo Palace,” the man kneeling on the ground replied.
“Milord.” The Mo Palace was being turned upside down in search of the fox, naturally, Luo had also heard of it, he immediately and eagerly came running. “This subordinate feels that those who have recently been in the palace should be investigated.”
Shi Di frowned slightly.
“Repooort.” A bodyguard came in running. “Lord Ming Yan is here.”
“What?!” Shi Di instantly jumped down from the throne and went out to meet him in person. Lord Ming Yan was the most powerful Demonic Lord in both influence and actual strength, he must be treated with the utmost respect.
When Mo Tianliao had left the Mo Palace, he had quickly fled on his sword. Under normal circumstances, he should have gone north, but he had turned south, found a demonic town and rented a spiritual bird.
Flying boats could only be rented to the people in one’s own sect, because flying boats could not fly back on their own, while spirit birds could.
The shopkeeper who lent him the spiritual bird was very surprised, looking up and down at this Golden Core cultivator. As a matter of fact, a spiritual bird could not fly as fast as a flying sword. Generally, only Qi Refining cultivators who could not use a sword would rent them.
Mo Tianliao did not explain, he paid the fee and hurriedly jumped on the spiritual bird. He had abducted the fox from the Mo Palace, it would be found very quickly, so he needed some camouflage.
This bird was a huge Kite Peng, with a slender body and a wingspan of about three zhangs. Mo Tianliao sat cross-legged on the bird’s back, loosely holding the reins tied to the bird’s neck with one hand and correcting the course whenever the bird deviated.
The kitten in his arms woke up, climbed down, jumped onto the bird’s back, rolled around and stretched himself.
“Baby, we are on a bird.” Mo Tianliao bent down and kissed the cat on the head.
Lord Kitty turned back and gave him a slap. What nonsense are you speaking, couldn’t this excellency see that for himself? He quickly jumped onto the bird’s head and looked out into the distance. Birds could not fly above the clouds, from here, he could clearly see the mountains and flowing rivers below.
“Squawk? Squaaaawk!” When the Kite Peng discovered the little furball on its head, it paid it no mind, but when those giant coppery eyes turned to look at him, the Kite Peng suddenly experienced the overpowering aura of a Great Beast. It was immediately frightened and bucked wildly. The cat that had just been standing on the bird’s head was promptly flung into the air.
Mo Tianliao instantly leapt, caught the kitten and held it in his arms, grabbed onto the bird’s neck with one hand, turned around, and jumped back on.
In his arms, there was a flash of light and the kitten turned into a slender beauty. “Why are we sitting on such a stupid thing?!”
“Don’t worry about it,” said Mo Tianliao, since he was holding this beauty, he felt in a bit of a daze and just blurted out a random answer, his hands, however, secretly tightened. “If you are bored, let’s talk.”
Qingtong glanced at him. Who would want to talk with such a stupid idiot? He pushed him away, took out his new fox pillow from the storage bracelet, and, with a light toss of his wide sleeves, lay down on the bird’s back.
The fox, who had been abruptly released and was confusedly glancing around, was squashed down, causing him to lay sprawled on his stomach with his four limbs splayed. He turned his head, then lay motionless, utterly resigned to his fate.
“Why is he so docile?” Mo Tianliao sat down beside Master and poked the fox on the head. He remembered when he first saw him in Xiaoyao Building, he had been quite sharp. Now he was so dull-witted and easy to bully.
“Cubs are very docile in front of this excellency.” Qingtong wrapped his slender fingers around the fluffy fox’s tail.
This Golden Core shape-shifting Beast cultivator was at least a few hundred years old. How was he a cub? Mo Tianliao put his hands on both sides of Master’s head and looked down at him.
Qingtong looked up, saw a big face close to his and frowned slightly, he suddenly remembered something. “Evil disciple, why did you tell Shi Di that your name was Mo Yunqi?”
“I was going to say my name was Mo Xiaozhao,” Mo Tianliao smiled and caught the hand Qingtong had tried to hit him with. “Then tell me first, why did you call yourself Qingtong?”
Tong, it had the same meaning as Yunqi.
Rising clouds hid the parasol trees, the distant gales could not increase the desolation. This was a poem that Mo Tianliao had once engraved on his Sky Burning Furnace when he was bored.
“According to da-shixiong, Beast cultivators don’t have a surname, they choose their own name.” Mo Tianliao smiled at his cat.
“Shut up.” Qingtong grabbed the fox pillow under his head and threw it at Mo Tianliao’s face.
“Have you found it?” Several demonic cultivators were searching amidst the clouds. This was the only route to the righteous path territories from Shi Di’s Mo Palace. Each and every flying boat or cultivator flying on a sword who passed by would be interrogated.
Some of the demonic cultivators bore an unsettled expression. The Supreme Demonic Lord had come to ask Lord Shi Di for the shape-shifting fox. Shi Di could not explain what had happened, he could only send them to try and find it as soon as possible. Craftsman Luo suspected that that man surnamed Mo had taken it away, but three days had passed and he had not turned up. He may already be gone.
Below the clouds, a Kite Peng flew silently.
“There is a bird,” cried one of the demonic cultivators.
“The man we’re looking for is a Golden Core cultivator. Why would he be on a bird?” The other demonic cultivator sneered, those who used flying beasts were all dirt poor, even if they robbed him, they wouldn’t get anything worth the trouble, they should concentrate on finding the fox as soon as possible.
Mo Tianliao looked at the demonic cultivators above, moved Master’s sleeping head to his lap, pulled out a blanket to cover him, and gently caressed his long, inky hair.
It took more than a month for the spiritual bird to fly the distance. As they were about to reach Woyun Sect, Mo Tianliao’s dantian suddenly began to vibrate.
The divine weapon was quickly summoned from his abdomen. The willow-leaf-sized pig-killing knife seemed to have absorbed enough woodfire and was dyed cyan. The little knife spun quickly around Mo Tianliao’s head, flying in circles.
Qingtong opened his eyes, his hand shot out quick as lighting, two fingers caught the willow-leaf-sized pig-killing knife. The knife struggled between his slender fingers, a flash of light within it moved back and forth rapidly in an anxious manner.
Suddenly, the light became very bright, the knife turned into a glowing sphere, then immediately scattered into countless little particles which abruptly merged in mid-air. Afterwards, it no longer looked like a pig-killing knife. It turned into a small staff, a changdao, a sharp sword… an unending kaleidoscope of transformations.
In the beginning there was Taichu, then there was Taishi. Taichu originated qi, Taishi originated form.
No fixed length, an amorphous shape, all kinds of changes into one, this device, was called Taishi.
The light became blinding for a moment, then Taishi turned into a small bowl and eagerly flew to Mo Tianliao.
“What is this for?” Qingtong looked at the small bowl.
Mo Tianliao’s mouth twitched; he drew a drop of heart’s blood from his fingertip and dropped it into the small bowl. Immediately, the small bowl joyfully closed around it and turned into a round ball, digesting the drop of heart’s blood. Before Mo Tianliao could say anything, the little ball turned into a mouth and its lips started flapping, “Motherfucker, I can finally speak! Your daddy’s been fucking holding it in for so long!”
