Chapter 28: Misunderstanding and Understanding Part 1
When she opened the door of the dining and entered, she could see Zed sitting in advance.
Lucifella sat at the end of the table, at the end of the table, in the hostessâs seat, because they were not greeting each other anyway.
Zed got up as Lucifella entered, but she asked the butler who was carrying the bowl without ever making eye contact with him.
âHow about Duke Louirk?â
Zedâs eyebrows furrowed slightly.
âOh, he is recuperating in his room.â
âAre you taking care of the meal separately?â
âYes.â
âDidnât he come out of the room?â
The butlerâs expression hardened subtly. He looked at Zed as if asking for help. Zed, who was listening to the conversation, said.
âDuke Louirk has been placed under arrest in his room.â
Lucifella opened her eyes wide at the words.
âWhat?â
âItâs suspicious. Duke Louirk came here without a clear cause, and the lady had an accident.â
ââŚ..â
Lucifella was at a loss for words at the openly questionable tone. Zedâs guess was not wrong. Even the confinement was justified.
But she didnât like it. Lucifella feared she might get herself excited, so she took a deep breath.
Every time she thought of Khalid, Lucifella realized that her mind was not working properly, so she needed a lot of effort to restrain herself.
âIf itâs a confinement, I think your knights must have worked very hard.â
âThatâs right.â
âThen you will know about the wound on his back. He was seriously injured, I think youâve heard it from the doctor.â
âIâve already called a doctor, so I doubt heâll die.â
Zedâs words contained blatant displeasure.
When Lucifella saw the butler, the butler also shook his head. She felt stuffy. He was saying that no one really saw Khalid while she was bedridden.
âThen you mean that no one has seen Duke Louirk properly. Where is he?â
âThird floorâŚâ
âWhy are you looking for him?â
Cutting off the butlerâs words, Zed asked in a sharp tone.
Lucifella, whose conversation was cut off, also frowned. A chill spread between them. The butler sweated a lot when he noticed that Lucifella and Zed were in a bad mood.
âCanât I go see the person staying at my house?â
To that, Zed replied.
âDidnât you understand that I told you that the reason for his confinement was because of your safety?â
âI donât think I ever told you to put him in confinement.â
The maids and butler looked at each other as the atmosphere instantly cooled. When the butler winked, the maids quickly left the dining hall. The butler went out last, saying to call him if they needed something.
âI donât think you misjudged the situation, even I think it was suspicious. However, I should have made it clear that Duke Louirk was wounded while trying to save me.â
âIf it wasnât for that, I would have put him in a dungeon rather than a confinement.â
Zed said sarcastically. As a result, Lucifellaâs mood also worsened.
She was a person who often cried, and when she didnât know anything about Khalid, she unconsciously became nervous.
âWhen did I give you the authority to do this? Why are your knights arbitrarily pensioning someone here, in my familyâs castle, without my permission?â
âAuthority?â
Zed said it with the attitude that he heard something interesting. He also seemed angry.
âDonât you remember that you collapsed and couldnât do anything? Iâve told you so many times. Iâll take care of it, so donât worry and rest. Didnât you hear what I said?â
âHow can I hear that when Iâm hurt!â
âThe news must have reached Count Aydin now, the lady has collapsed, the manager is in critical condition, and since there was no one to manage, and since there is no one take care of it, it was obvious that it would become a hassle later, so I even did a follow-up that I didnât have to do, but now youâre asking who gave me the rights?â
Lucifella somehow felt that his tone was filled with disappointment. Zedâs face was far from that âdisappointmentâ, neat face with slightly furrowed eyebrows, but it was like that.
She was a little flustered. It was the first time she had seen this person make such an expression.
When she was Estelle, Zed was a jerk, and when she was Lucifella, he was still a jerk.
But she never thought he could make such a face. She realized that she had spoken too aggressively.
In any case, Zed was the one who came all the way from the capital to save her. She was overly emotional.
âThat⌠Itâs not that Iâm not grateful, I really appreciate everything you did for me.â
Lucifellaâs tone softened again. However, Zedâs expression did not change.
Lucifella thought about what to say. Yeah, letâs thank him more. As she was about to part her lips like, Zed said,
âYou must really want to please the crown prince, right?â
âWhat?â
Lucifella was stunned by the unexpected character that came out of nowhere. Why does the crown prince appear here?
âYou mustâve known whose dog that guy is, yet you still defending him. Isnât it obvious?â
âThatâs not it, IâŚ.â
âIf you want to fake your feelings, you should have done it thoroughly until the end. This is twice now that youâve fooled me.â
âNo, IâŚâ
Lucifella tried to say more, but Zed seemed already offended. Then, slowly, Lucifella began to feel offended again.
Whatâs up with this punk? You have to listen to everything people say properly.
âYou probably donât know that His Highness the crown prince planned it, right? Donât you know why Duke Louirk here? Itâs something the crown prince planned.â
Zedâs eyes turned to Lucifellaâs face. Seeing her expression, which was not very surprised, Zed smiled crookedly.
âLooking at your face, you must have known it. You donât seem to want to take issue with it.â
If nothing had happened, his position of dragging knights to the fief would have been subtle. However, Zed accepted it and headed for the estate.
He went through all the hardships in the mountains to find and save her, but she didnât say thank you and asked me to take the unlucky Louirk with the carriage.
Even after the great event is over. I took care of everything myself because all the people who could control the territory collapsed, but I was only angry about it. Now, is this the right thing to do?
For Zed, just not imprisoning Louirk in the dungeon was a great privilege. But who are you defending in front of whom?
I knew this stupid woman couldnât forget the crown prince.
You can tell by looking at her attitude at the imperial palace, what she did afterward, and from approaching Zed, who she hated so much.
Still, the reason why he didnât mind when they met again was that she was so safe, which was dangerous.
She was out of danger again and alive. In that relief, Zed had already forgotten the past.
However, the woman who has come to her senses is showing something like that.
Before, he was annoyed by her falling for the crown prince, but now he felt sorry for that womanâs foolishness. And at the end of that pity, there was a mysterious anger.
Lucifella rolled her eyes and barely opened her mouth, as if her point was reasonable.
âNo, thatâŚ.â
Of course, Lucifella was in a different position.
First of all, she had no intention of not making it an issue. Yet she hadnât even given orders to her knights to pursue. Now that I have woken up, what do you mean by making it an issue?
âI want you to know that I am not a substitute for the crown prince, my lady.â
Zed took a step further and said. For Zed, it was an unbearable blow, but to Lucifella, it was a rootless illusion that she did not even know where it came from.
This guy, letâs see, yeah, letâs see.
As Lucifella tried to argue, Zed got up and turned around, and walked to the dining door.
From the way he walked, anyone could see that he was angry.
Lucifella took a breath and tried to calm down in bewilderment. But it didnât work out.
Substitute for the crown prince? What, thereâs such a madman?
At most, she felt sorry and grateful to Zed, but that too had disappeared. Lucifella, completely enraged, shouted.
âAre you out of your mind? Accusing someone as a heartbroken fool!â
