After his discussion in the day time, Jiang MingYuan decided to have his chauffeur made a detour to check out this stretch of road after work. He got out of his car, walked around the area a little, and had some ideas. When he was just about to turn around and leave, he had caught sight of a somewhat familiar silhouette.
He thought he was mistaken at first. He took a few extra looks before he could be certain that she was, indeed, XingXingâs mother. Jiang MingYuan was a bit baffled as to why she was over here but then he figured it out.
When he had his assistant prepared the storefront, he specifically requested that a not-so-good location also be added in the mix so itâd appear less suspicious to Cheng Huan. Judging from the direction that she came from, she must have gone to check out the storefront.
Traffic was very light on this stretch of the street and crimes were high. Jiang MingYuan worried about her walking down this stretch of road by herself and, as itâd be awkward to invite her into his car, he decided to follow behind her to make sure that nothing happened to her.
Whoâd have thought that his following her almost caused trouble.
Jiang MingYuan, too, was distracted by the blinking light when Cheng Huan turned around. When he regained his vision, he saw the woman frantically walking away.
He didnât see exactly what had happened, but he had a pretty good idea. He regretted about his own decision and felt that he didnât think it through before he went down this path.
Owing to Cheng Huanâs reaction, Jiang MingYuan dared not follow her anymore. He went back into his car and followed her slowly. He didnât care to even follow her too closely, for fear that heâd startle her once again.
He finally had the chauffeur turned around after seeing that she had reached the busiest section of the road. He felt bad when he thought about his earlier behavior and what it had done to Cheng Huan. He wanted to made up to her but he didnât know what he could do.
Unlike Jiang MingYuan, Cheng Huan didnât dwell on this and had mostly forgotten about it by the time she got home.
She picked up XingXing from the neighbor and started on making dinner. For the sake of the little kid who asked about his poor vegetable from earlier in the day, Cheng Huan had no choice but to make another dish of stir fry vegetables.
When all was said and it, it was almost 8 oâclock when the mother and son had finished eating dinner. Cheng Huan didnât want to disturb others so late at night so she suppressed her own excitement and waited till the next day to make her call.
Just like last time, the worker who first answered the phone passed it over to the responsible party. The person who came to the phone eagerly provided Cheng Huan with his personal phone number and set a time and location to meet up with her.
âOkay, I will see you then.â Cheng Huan put down her cellphone, cocked her head and smiled at XingXing who was eating his breakfast. âBaby, we are about to move to our new storefront. Itâs in the plaza that we went to last time. Do you still remember?â
âReally?â XingXing was just struggling with eating the egg yolk. When he heard her words, he immediately took that opportunity to push aside the plate and bounced up from his seat. âMommy, I want to go with you.â
He still remembered there was delicious cakes over there!
âNo, you canât come with.â Cheng Huan rejected him mercilessly. âToday is a Monday. You need to go to kindergarten.â
Cheng Huan watched over the little kiddo as he finished up the remainder of the milk before she wiped his mouth clean with a napkin. Picking up the backpack that he had already packed, Cheng Huan stroke her sonâs head and said, âAlright, letâs head out.â
XingXing lowered his head, grunted, and this was the first time since school has started over a month ago that he felt he wasnât all that keen about going to school.
