Jiang MingYuanâs chauffeur bought the barbecue and had it sent over before XingXing finished drawing his mother.
The barbeque came fresh off the grill and was carried over by a slightly chubby woman.
XingXing was now more or less immune to the aroma of barbeque by now, but it was difficult to ignore when the food was right next to him. He looked toward the source of the aroma, saw all the meat on the plate, and grinned, showing the woman carrying the plate his teeth. âHi, Aunty Xu.â
âAh, XingXing, good boy.â Xu Li placed the meat in front of Jiang MingYuan then smiled and asked XingXing whether he was tired or hungry.
Xu Li truly liked her bossâs son whom she had only met a few times. He was cute, docile, and had a way with his words. Why couldnât she have kids like that?
âNo, I am not tired,â said XingXing as he shook his head. As his light was blocked, he put his color pencil down and started chatting with Xu Li.
He told her that she was working too hard, that she should drink more water, and that heâd talk to his mother to lessen her workload.
A few words from him brought a big smile onto Xu Liâs face. She smiled and kissed him on his cheek before she went back to work with a big smile.
Watching the interaction between the two made Jiang MingYuan a bit jealous.
This little brat. He wasnât only affectionate to his mother; he was also affectionate with others. He was so sweet when he called the woman âauntieâ. Why was his tone so dry when he called him âuncleâ?
He was unhappy when he blocked his light, but he was perfectly fine when someone else blocked his light.
Jiang MingYuan gritted his teeth and swallowed his own unreasonable bitterness. He nicely asked XingXing, âWould you like some meat?â
âNo, thank you,â said XingXing after he glanced at the meat and shook his head decisively.
Mommy had told him to not accept food from strangers. If he did, heâd be taken away.
XingXing didnât want to be taken away. He wouldnât be able to see his mommy again if he was taken away. So he followed that rule to the T.
No matter how tempting the food was!
Since his son had declined him, Jiang MingYuan had no choice but to eat by himself.
Barbequed meat had never before today ever appeared on Boss Jiangâs dinner table. The spices were too heavy and he wasnât used to that. He only tried one skewer before he gave up.
That being said, even though he wasnât going to eat any more of them, the meat was still sitting in front of him and radiating their aroma.
Surrounded by that thick aroma, XingXing felt more and more gluttonous and the more gluttonous he felt, the hungrier he got. He could barely keep on drawing. He turned his head and said to Jiang MingYuan with a slight frown, âUncle, why donât you go sit somewhere else?â
Jiang MingYuan was baffled. ââŚâŚ Why?â
XingXing sighed like a little adult and said, âI canât draw with you eating here.â
He was still glancing over at the barbequed meat from time to time as he talked.
Jiang MingYuan suddenly understood and found this amusing. Just a minute ago, he had declined to have any in such a righteous tone and now he couldnât stand it anymore?
As much as his sonâs eager look was both cute and pitiful, Jiang MingYuan didnât plan to let him have any meat.
The meat had too much spices in them. They were not healthy.
He acknowledged the child, but instead of throwing them away in front of him, he called his chauffeur to have them taken away.
With the barbequed meat gone, the lingering smell had lessened a lot. XingXing was finally able to walk out from the enchantment of the barbecued meat. He looked over quickly at Jiang MingYuan before he looked back at his drawing paper.
Except now that he has food on his mind, it wasnât easy to refocus. When XingXing felt that he could no longer stand the hunger, he slammed his coloring pencil down and stood up abruptly.
âWhere are you going?â asked Jiang MingYuan as he got up and followed him.
There were so many people here, what if he got lost?
âI am going to look for my mom,â replied XingXing and he walked over to the far right side.
Jiang MingYuan followed him from a reasonable distance and stopped when he saw that XingXing had run over to Cheng Huan.
Everybody said how much the two of them looked alike. He didnât want to alert anyone just yet.
He has yet to figure out what he wanted to do with the child that he had just found out about. Now wasnât a good time to meet his mother just yet.
Jiang MingYuan took a sidestep and let another person get in front of him.
Cheng Huan, standing in front of the barbeque stand, turned and looked but didnât see the âpretty uncleâ that XingXing had talked about. She didnât think too much of it but took out some snacks from a box that she brought along and handed them over to XingXing.
âDonât eat all of them okay? You can only have two pieces.â
