They did not chat for too long. It was already late, after all Jiang MingYuan pulled out the gifts that he had brought with him and followed his cousin and his wife to Big Grandpa’s place.
Big Grandpa’s place was much bigger than Jiang MingYuan’s and there were 5 or 6 different structures within the courtyard. There were a lot of rooms and a lot of people living there. His 5 children and around 10 grandchildren and another 10 more great grandchildren all returned with their families. There was almost not enough room to house all of them.
They went to visit Big Grandpa first. Big Grandpa stayed in his own structure. There were caretakers and doctor in there as well. Many greeted Jiang MingYuan as the three of them walked toward the structure. Walking next to Jiang MingYuan, Cheng Huan did not need to turn around to feel the looks that were focused on her from behind her.

Big Grandpa’s place was quiet and there was an independent backyard outside of his structure. A few cages of birds were hung from the under the eaves and there were different colors of parrots inside of them. As soon as Jiang MingYuan and the others got close, one of the big one shouted toward the inside of the house, “Someone’s here to see you, old man!”
The abruptness of the voice startled both Cheng Huan and XingXing. XingXing looked around, still startled, but did not find the person who talked. He stealthily snuggled up closer to his mother and said to her softly, “Mom, there’s an invisible man here.”
Having said that, the bird chuckled loudly again and XingXing stuck onto Cheng Huan even closer.
Cheng Huan had never had a parrot before but she knew that certain species of them can be trained to talk. Looking in the direction of where the sound came from, she saw the green beady eyes of the large parrot. The parent cocked it’s head, looked at her and greeted her, “Hi there, beautiful.”\n\n“Okay.” XingXing thought about it some and nodded. Holding onto his daddy’s hand, he waved at the parrot before he reluctantly walked inside of the structure with his mom and dad.
Big Grandpa was old and could not easily go up and down the stairs. He spent most of his time in his own room. Jiang MingYuan brought his wife and kid with him to see Big Grandpa in his bedroom. He had just knocked when a voice came from inside telling him to go inside.
“Is it MingYuan? C’mon in. I knew it was you when I heard Dongdong.” His voice was old but not fragile. He was most likely in good health. Jiang MingYuan looked more relaxed upon hearing that. Walking inside and placing their gifts on top of the table, he smiled and addressed the elder in front of him as Great Grandpa.
He then introduced the others with him. “This is Cheng Huan, my girlfriend. This is Jiang XingChen, our son. He will be 5 years old after the new year.”
After his introduction, Cheng Huan addressed the old man as Big Grandpa as well and XingXing, confused for a second there, said the same thing. He only recalled to change the title after his mother had smacked him gently.
