Cheng Huan didnât need Jiang MingYuan to say so before she decided to switch XingXing to a different school. This school had times and again allowed others to approach her child and sometimes even played the role as an accessory. That was certainly very unsettling.
But, moving downstairs to Jiang MingYuanâŠ.
It wasnât mentioned much in the novel but it was very detailed when it came to the description on Jiang MingYuanâs mother. She was one with a very strong sense of social status, like some crazy woman who resided in the era before the founding of the PRC. She looked down deeply on those who had a lower social status than her and felt that she was doing one a favor by talking to them. At the same time, she would not leave alone the ones she disliked just because she looked down on them, especially the ones that would fight her over her son.
Cheng Huan did not read the entire novel but she glanced at the comments. Even the sunny female lead had been mistreated quite often by her and almost dragged her parents into this.
Cheng Huan was not one who enjoying bringing troubles to herself and did not want to have anything to do with someone like that. She only wanted to stay as far away as possible after learning that Mother Jiang had learned about them.
She couldnât afford to go against her so sheâd just have to hide. Her shop was doing well and she could live a pretty good life with XingXing on that income alone. Except that⊠wouldnât be too nice for her childâs father.
He probably wouldnât want them to leave.
As she struggled inside her mind, her emotions showed on her. Of course Jiang MingYuan could tell what was going through her mind.
Jiang MingYuanâs passion dropped all of a sudden. Staring intensely at Cheng Huan, he didnât want to miss any of her expression. âYou donât want to move away?â
Cheng Huan felt awkward. She looked away from him and avoided eye contact. Of course her actions had pretty much confirmed her thoughts. Jiang MingYuan was disappointed but didnât know what he could say.
It was quiet inside the room. Nobody said anything and Cheng Huan felt very uneasy. It was as though they had gone back to the days when the two of them had just met â strange and awkward.
âIâŠâ Cheng Huan finally broke the silence. Wetting her lips, she shared her thoughts. âI really donât want any contact with your mother.â
Jiang MingYuan stated immediately, âI wonât let her disturb the two of you.â
Cheng Huan glanced over at him with obvious disbelief in her eyes.
Madam Jiang would see her moving to beneath Jiang MingYuan as a form of challenge to her. So why wouldnât she come looking for her?
Jiang MingYuan could see her distrust. Instead of continuing to try to reassure her, he went silent. After a little while, he stood up and, with his usual voice and expression, he said to her, âLetâs talk about this later. Itâs getting late. Go get some rest. I will take off now.â
This incident had greatly affected Cheng Huanâs mood. She stood up quietly and saw him out. She finally told him to drive safely when the elevator doors opened.
âDonât overthink it.â Jiang MingYuan lifted his hand and finally stopped himself from rubbing her on her head. In her surprised look, he gave her a light smile and said, âItâs not a big issue. Donât worry too much about it.â
Then he stepped inside of the elevator.
The smile from one who was normally very solemn was very impactful. His smile made Cheng Huan blushed deeply and, at the same time, the scale in her mind began to tip. Cheng Huan finally recollected herself when the elevator doors closed.
Ah well, she could give it some time and think through his suggestion to move. There was no rush.
