Jiang MingYuan recollected himself immediately. His body reacted faster than his brain and he had already pressed down on the shutter button to preserve that moment. Jiang MingYuan stood back up after he put down the camera. He sounded no different than he did earlier. âIâm done. Do you want to see?â
âSure!â Cheng Huan couldnât wait but run over. She stuck her head over wanting to look at the picture.
Jiang MingYuan stiffened up a little almost unnoticeably. His muscles tightened. The hint of scent around his nose made him heat up and feel irritable. Handing the camera back over to Cheng Huan, he walked away quickly after telling her to take her time, as though he was being chased by some sort of vicious beasts.
This was the first time Cheng Huan saw him losing his composure. She felt odd and, looking at the back of man who walked away, lowered her head and asked the little kiddo, âWhatâs up with your daddy?â
XingXing shook his head. His face blank, âI dunno either.â Daddy was just fine a little while ago.
The little kiddo thought about what had happened and finally came to a conclusion. âDaddy must be hungry!â
âYou mean you are hungry.â Cheng Huan pinched the little boy on his nose and made fun of him. XingXing frowned and pulled his head from under his motherâs evil claw as he admitted with alacrity. âYes, I am hungry.â
âOkay, letâs go eat then.â Cheng Huan placed her camera around her neck, picked up XingXingâs hand and started walking backward. âLetâs take a guess as to where Daddy went?â
Jiang MingYuan didnât go anywhere but stayed inside of the mansion. He sat on the couch without saying a word. Even when Cheng Huan and XingXing returned, he barely glanced over at them.
Jiang MingYuan had already calmed down by now. He felt embarrassed about how he had acted earlier. He was like a clueless young boy who had no idea how to behave in front of the girl that he liked.
Alright, when it came to romance, his getting older did not make him more experienced. But a girl that he likedâŠ
He toyed with that idea. Jiang MingYuan looked at the person referred to by that phrase and he felt a sweet and strange stir in himself.
Itâd seem that he had fallen for real this time.
Jiang MingYuan placed his palm over his forehead and had no idea how this had happened. He had only known her for barely three months and the time that they had spent together were minimal. He didnât even know much about her personality or preferences. How would he have fallen for her?
As though to answer his own questions, all the scenes from the past played in his head with the kind of warm and peace that he never experienced at home. They made him felt relaxed and serene. As such, before he even knew it, he was already deep within it.
His mind was going a mile a minute but he appeared calm on the outside, even somewhat cold. Nevertheless, neither XingXing nor Cheng Huan would be intimidated by his look.
The little boy looked around for his daddy as soon as he walked inside the door. Once he had located his daddy, he immediately let go of his mommy and ran over. Climbing up onto the couch, he was already all over Jiang MingYuanâs chest. His little mouth opened and closed, âDaddy, are you hungry?â
âHuh?â Jiang MingYuan recollected himself and stroked his son on his stomach. âIs XingXing hungry?â
âMmmhmm! I want to go eat.â
âLetâs go eat then.â He wouldnât be able to sort out his feelings right away. Eating was more important right now. Jiang MingYuan picked up XingXing and stood up from the couch. Walking over to Cheng Huan, his look was unfocused. âWhat do you think about French food tonight?â
He had planned the trip way back when and had picked the restaurant based on how good they were. Now that he had confirmed his own thoughts and said it out loud, it seemed he had planned it in advance on purpose.
Naturally, Cheng Huan didnât object to that.
The French restaurant on the island was operated by real French. Words had it that they had served the royalties in the past. Cheng Huan had no idea how much truth there was in that but their food was quite tasty.
The three of them took the car back to the hotel after dinner. The car stopped a distance away from the hotel. Cheng Huan was a bit baffled. Walking closer, she noticed a lot of military tents on the plaza in front of the hotel. There was a large camp fire in the middle and lots of people standing around it, dancing hand in hand.
Cheng Huan was baffled. âThis is an activity? Arenât they hot?â
Even though it was much cooler at night, but not so cold that theyâd need a fire.
âThe fire is fake. It doesnât actually give out any heat,â explained Jiang MingYuan. âThe camp fire banquet arranged by the hotel is somewhat interested. One can also choose to stay in a tent afterward. Are you interested in taking a look?â
