Ch 6 - Second Generation Ancestor x Illegitimate Child: Superior
Gentle and bright sunlight was cast down onto the wooden floor of the spacious, well-lit room, but the window curtains were closed halfway, separating the boundary between light and dark.
The thin, golden chain shone beautifully under the warm sun, the fingers hooking around it were fair and slender.
âWe should go to school.â
The original owner studied at an aristocratic private school, Yan Qin also went there.
Even though Yan Qin was not favoured at home, Yan Zong believed that since he had already recognised him and brought him back home, it still gave him the conditions to study.
Lin Sui led Yan Qin from the shadows to the light, their shadows blending together.
The tall young manâs back was straight, just like a pine tree.
The scene was brimming with aesthetics, like exotic lines on the colourful stained glass in a church.
They walked quietly down the corridor, the servants looked down with their heads bowed, with only the sound of their footsteps echoing softly in the large villa.
Lin Sui untied the ring on the necklace Yan Qin was wearing, causing the leash-like chain to separate from it1.
Looking down from this angle, Yan Qin could see a wide expanse of porcelain-white skin from Lin Suiâs two unfastened buttons, as well as the pair of rosy lips on his lower jaw.
He moved his eyes away, the friction of the long, hanging chain made the distinctive sound of metal rubbing together, as though a golden snake coiled around the young masterâs palm.
As Yan Qin heard that sound, he felt the itchy feeling underneath the skin of his neck sprouting again.
Lin Sui put his hand in his pocket as his cellphone vibrated, and slightly raised the corners of his mouth as he took it out and saw the news.
âIâm afraid I wonât have time to go to school today,â Lin Sui spoke to Yan Qin with a slight sense of regret, then turned to the servants and ordered, âFind someone who can drive to take him, pick one of the cars in the garage.â
Lin Sui gave the instructions casually, and got onto the car through the left back door that the chauffeur had opened. When the car door was closed, they quickly drove away.
When the tail lights of the car disappeared, Yan Qin looked away, taking his bag from a servant.
âIâll go myself, no need to trouble yourselves.â
âNo no no, the young master ordered it. Young master Yan, wait a few minutes, weâve already sent someone to urgently find an experienced driver.â
The servant continuously shook his head with worry as sweat dripped down the tip of his nose. There was so much surveillance in the house, if the young master knew he hadnât handled things according to his instructions, he would surely be fired.
Yan Qin was silent, the servants in this villa were all very afraid of going against Lin Suiâs orders. Lin Sui offered high salaries, but once there was anything he didnât like, Lin Sui would immediately fire them. These people didnât want to lose their jobs, which was why they were particularly prudent.
The young masterâs garage was filled with flashy cars, Yan Qin could only choose a Maybach that didnât seem too high-profile, but it actually still attracted a lot of attention.
Yan Qin arrived just in time for afternoon classes, and when he got out of the car, the people that saw him whispered amongst each other.
Yan Qin pretended not to hear as he kept walking towards the school building, then sat down at his seat.
After he sat down, Chu Feng and Tao Ting immediately surrounded him.
Tao Ting spoke with worry: âYou havenât been coming to school for almost a week, are you okay?â
The school they attended was an expensive private school, and the vast majority of the students were children of wealthy families. Yan Qinâs reputation as an illegitimate child was made public the first day he came to the school, and Yan Zhou made it clear to the people that they should not treat him politely, so Yan Qin was pushed aside and isolated at school.
Only Chu Feng and Tao Ting were the exception, they were especially outstanding students admitted free of tuition fees on a special basis, so their families were ordinary, but their conduct was upstanding. The three of them had formed a small team since their first year of highschool.
Yan Qin shook his head, putting his books down on the table.
âItâs all right, just bear with it, itâs almost time for the college entrance exam,â Chu Feng patted his brother on the shoulder, whispering, âDid you get the program sent out the day before yesterday? Tao Ting and I finished writing that program you wrote half of last time, just double-check it again and change it.â
Hearing what Chu Feng said, Tao Ting nodded towards Yan Qin.
Yan Qin looked at his like-minded friends, and told them to keep calm.
âItâs not too late, Iâll look for an opportunity to see it.â
Tao Ting looked at his surroundings with a complicated expression.
Lin Sui was the schoolâs man of the moment. Even though he simply never came to school, his background and temperament had already spread to the ears of every student.
They jokingly used the names âlittle grandfatherâ and âPrinceâ to refer to Lin Sui, since anyone who provoked him would be kicked out of the school no matter which family they came from.
Because of the announcement from those rich kids, the whole class knew Yan Qin didnât come to school because the little grandfather told him to go be his dog.
Tao Ting and Chu Feng didnât dare hear or think too much about it, even if they felt hurt and angry on behalf of their friend, they were powerless to do anything.
Yan Qin was not surprised the news of this matter had spread, so he nodded.
Chu Fengâs heart was filled with resentment, but he still seriously consoled him: âA-Yan, thereâs always light after the long darkness.â
Tao Tin nodded, and couldnât help but asking afterwards: âIs that person really like how the rumours say?â
Was he as arrogant, domineering, ruthless, conceited, hard-to-please, and easy-to-provoke as the rumours said?
âSort of.â
Thinking about Lin Sui, Yan Qinâs fingertips began to itch again.
He thought about that baffling kiss that left him tossing and turning restlessly, he still couldnât understand what on earth Lin Sui was thinking.
There didnât seem to be anything beautiful about Lin Sui, the humiliation of being forced to bow his head and obey was still in his mind, and the pendant resting on his collarbone was ice-cold, but there was something different taking root within it.
He couldnât tell what it was.
âThen isnât that miserable?â Tao Tingâs expression became more and more sympathetic, and not knowing what to say, finally choked out the words, âWhen Heaven wants to place great responsibility on a person2.â
âThink about Gou Jian, Han Xin, and Sima Qian3!â
Yan Qinâs expression stiffened, and Chu Feng choked on his spit, waving his hands: âThere was no need for Sima Qian.â
Tao Ting laughed in embarrassment, then caught something with his eyes.
âA-Yan, why are you wearing a necklace?â
Yan Qin stroked the thin chain on his neck, his expression gloomy, and he didnât answer.
On the other side, Lin Sui was inside the hospital, looking at a woman being lifted into a stretcher for a position transfer.
The person who came to hand her over wasnât Yan Zong himself, but rather Yan Zhou.
âA-Sui, what do you want this old woman for?â
Yan Zhou looked at the crooked, ill woman with a breathing tube in disgust. If it werenât for this slut getting pregnant without permission, the bastard Yan Qin wouldnât have been born, and he wouldnât have appeared in front of him.
It wasnât until his father instructed him that he found out he was still keeping this sick woman, he didnât understand why, and didnât understand why Lin Sui wanted to take her.
âDo I have to report my reasons for doing things to you?â
Lin Sui coldly looked at Yan Zhou out of the corner of his eye, as he watched the car close its doors and drive away.
Ten or so minutes later, she would show up at a private hospital under the Lin familyâs name.
âOf course not, I was just curious, donât be angry.â
Yan Zhou mocked, and called out when he saw the car drive away.
âMy dad said to take this nurse along with her, he said this one was picked out by the bastard himself.â
Yan Zhou didnât know why his dad insisted on adding that sentence, he had asked, but his dad impatiently told him to just do as he was told, so Yan Zhou simply repeated his words.
Lin Sui laughed coldly: âDoes your dad think I canât even afford a nurse?â
He was very clear about what kind of things that old bastard from the Yan family was planning, taking his profit and, still not satisfied, wanting to sound him out, all while surveilling him in passing?
He just thought that his behaviour of wanting to take Yan Qin was not simple, and he probably had taken a fancy to this plaything, so he asked Yan Zhou to emphasise the words âpersonally chosenâ. It didnât matter if it had been Yan Qinâs choice or not, in any case, the money was not coming from Yan Qin, so naturally he had no say on whose side that nurse was on.
Yan Zhouâs mouth twitched: âThatâs right, ah.â
âLetâs not talk about those things, Yunqing is coming back soon, should we throw him a welcoming party?â
Yan Zhou picked out something that interested the young master Lin, and offered up the news heâd received.
Song Yunqing was also a rich youth from their circle, he was studying design, and had gone abroad to participate in a competition last month, so he would be coming back in a few days.
He and young master Lin were the closest friends within their circle, and he was the only person that could soothe young master Linâs temper when he got angry.
When Lin Sui first heard this name, it was very unfamiliar, it was only after the System quickly pulled up the relevant memory data for him that he answered.
âSee what you can do, just call me when the time comes.â
If it wasnât for him playing his character, Lin Sui wouldnât care who he was.
Yan Zhou couldnât get the hang of the situation, in the past, the parties for Song Yunqing coming back from abroad were all personally arranged by the little ancestor, why throw it at him this time? In addition, he didnât seem too excited about it.
Maybe Song Yunqing had been out competing for too long this time, and the young master wasnât happy.
Yan Zhou muttered in his mind, but agreed on the surface.
After chatting a few words with Yan Zhou, Lin Sui lost his patience and left.
He didnât have a good opinion about Yan Zhou, and had even been wanting to teach him a lesson for a long time, he still remembered the whip heâd lashed out with in his presence.
Soon after, Lin Sui went to the hospital to find a doctor, to understand Yan Qinâs motherâs condition.
Cancer cells had spread inside of her body, and current treatment options could only be used to control the rate of the spread, there was no cure for her illness, they could only delay it one day at a time, and it was up to Heaven to decide how long she could live for.
Lin Sui stood beside the hospital bed, looking at her sleeping face, thinking to himself in cold blood that she was Yan Qinâs soft-hearted yoke, and the burden stopping Yan Qin from becoming strong.
âTake care of her, use the best medicine when the situation calls for it, and put it on my account.â
The resident physician nodded her head, and Lin Sui left the hospital.
Inside the Mingfeng Private School. The Senior class was in the middle of physics class.
The teacher in charge of the class hurriedly came in, and spoke a few words into the ear of the physics teacher. The physics teacher nodded and took a few things before leaving the podium.
The students sitting down whispered amongst each other, not understanding the situation, as the head teacher stood on the podium and used a handkerchief to wipe the sweat from his forehead.
Two security guards came in holding a desk and a chair, moving directly towards the back row.
Yan Qin was the only person sitting there, and seeing the additional table and chair appearing next to him, his brows furrowed as a bad premonition emerged.
âStudents, our class has a new student who skipped a grade, remember to get along well, and letâs welcome classmate Lin Sui.â
The head teacher wiped more and more sweat from his head, endlessly complaining in his heart.
Once this name got out, the class exploded, and many people turned their heads to heckle and laugh strangely at Yan Qin.
The numerous, confused voices in the class abruptly stopped the moment the young man stepped foot inside, his reputation was so notorious that even if he had the best looking face, other people wouldnât dare look at him.
Lin Sui didnât feel like introducing himself, and walked directly to the back row.
Tao Ting and Chu Feng were both sweating for Yan Qin, fearing Yan Qinâs circumstances were about to get even more terrible.
âWho did this?â
After a few hours of absence, Lin Sui saw bruises on the corners of Yan Qinâs mouth, and it was hard to tell if his expression was happy or angry.
A young man smiled mischievously as he raised his hand, laughing: âYoung master Lin, your dog is really obedient, he wonât even resist.â
The circle of silkpants rich kids laughed, and a strange atmosphere permeated the classroom.
Lin Suiâs beautiful, unsmiling face turned cold, and he seemed like a blooming poisonous flower.
âRubbish.â
Lin Sui looked at Yan Qin coldly and reprimanded, and those silkpants laughed even louder.
Yan Qinâs slightly downcast eyes were filled with haze, and he tasted blood in the tip of his tongue, but he still didnât say a word. He had long since imagined this scene in his mind, it was nothing he couldnât bear.
But in the middle of this extreme repression, Yan Qin heard something that made him feel like he was hallucinating.
âYouâre going to fight, right? If a few of them donât end up in the hospital today, you wonât eat.â
Yan Qin suddenly raised his head, the redness of his bloodshot eyes had still not faded, and his surprise was plainly visible on his face.
Those laughing people seemed to have suddenly been strangled, and they stared at Lin Sui, not knowing what to do.
âStand guard and close the doors.â
Lin Sui lifted his chin, and two students sitting at the front and back of the class immediately closed the doors. These people often bullied their classmates in all kinds of ways, and other people didnât dare speak out in anger.
The head teacher shrunk back into a corner, he was about to say something, but was stopped by Lin Suiâs glance, so he weakly and helplessly pretended to be blind.
Yan Qinâs silent endurance had been for the sake of not causing any unnecessary trouble, but now it was different.
The wails and sounds of fists hitting flesh made peopleâs teeth ache, those people looked into Yan Qinâs cold eyes and immediately begged for mercy without caring about the others.
Yan Qin only stopped when he had reached the standard set by Lin Sui.
âMy dog is still superior to others.â
The young man leaned back in his chair, looking down at the people on the ground as if he were looking at tiny bugs.
His delicate skin was marked with an innate arrogance, and the words pouring out of his opening and closing lips made people feel chilled from the inside out.
Yan Qin was swept away by his gaze, and his still-excited body was flooded with a large amount of an unknown emotion, rampaging wildly inside his chest, recklessly churning about.

1 Minor correction. Last chapter, the necklace & bracelet were âinterwoven in the centre by their long silver chainsâ when it shouldâve been âa long silver chainâ (Also I know this chap calls it a golden chain but thatâs just how it is in the raws). Top.
3 Historical people famous for enduring humiliation and going on to achieve great things. In summary: Gou Jian was captured by the Wu during the war between the Wu and Yue, and was forced to be a servant to King Fuchai of Wu. After becoming King himself, it is said that Gou Jian ate bile to remind himself of the humiliation of being a servant under the State of Wu. Han Xin lived in poverty during his youth. On one occasion, a group of ruffians challenged him to either fight and kill them or crawl between their legs. Han Xin decided to crawl between their legs to save his life, and went on to become a famous military general dubbed as one of the Three Heroes of the early Han dynasty. Sima Qian was sentenced to death after offending the Emperor Wu. To avoid the death penalty, Sima Qian was castrated and thrown into prison. After being released from prison, he went on to live as an eunuch in the palace to complete his âRecords of the Grand Historianâ, which covered over 2,000 years of the history of China. Top.
