Lu Xuechen shrugged and said calmly, “I came out to take a call. Jiayu’s already asleep so I didn’t want to disturb her.”

“Really?” Lu Jingyi did not look convinced.

Regardless of whether she believed him or not, Lu Xuechen began to leave, but Lu Jingyi suddenly called him back, “Lu Xuechen, how did you and Lin Jiayu meet?”

“Didn’t you already see everything today?”

Fang Zhihan did not say a word, but he had already staked his claim. Now, everyone in the social circle knew he was no longer single.

“I really can’t see this doctor’s strengths. She managed to be with Fang Zhihan and she even got her friend to be with you,” Lu Jingyi said in a sour tone.

How could Lu Xuechen not hear the meaning behind his sister’s words, “Sis, Jiayu is already married to me and she’s carrying your nephew in her stomach.”

Lu Jingyi sighed, “If it wasn’t because she was pregnant, do you think she could marry into our family?”

After hearing this, Lu Xuechen’s expression sank, “Sis, please speak properly!!”

“I’m saying this because of you. I’m afraid you might be cheated. Women these days are amazing; they’re not as innocent as they appear. It’s hard to tell whether they really like you or whether they have another motive.”

“That’s enough. You’re doing this because of Fang Zhihan. Sis, it’s not that I don’t want to help you. I’ve created so many opportunities for you but how many times has Fang Zhihan given you a chance? You’re not suited to him”

Lu Xuechen’s words were so blunt that Lu Jingyi felt hurt.

“I wanted to start a relationship with Fang Zhihan before, but I gave up a long time ago!” she exclaimed.

Lu Xuechen gave a gentle, “En.”

He gave a response, but he didn’t sound convinced.

Lu Jingyi was furious, “Believe it if you want!”

She glared at Lu Xuechen fiercely and said in a cold voice, “You suddenly told the family that you wanted to get married because your girlfriend is pregnant. Do you think of our family as ordinary people? Let me clearly tell you that I don’t like her. If she was a good woman, she wouldn’t let her boyfriend’s family know of her existence and use her pregnancy as a reason for marriage.”

After saying this, she stormed out angrily.

Lu Xuechen was a little helpless.

He knew that his sister’s unhappiness was partly due to Fang Zhihan, but most of it was because she cared about him. Yet, he couldn’t tell her the truth.

Just as Lu Xuechen returned to the bedroom, Lin Jiayu was laying a quilt on the sofa.

He approached her and frowned, “What are you doing?”

“I’m sleeping on the sofa.” After a bit of hesitation, Lin Jiayu decided not to share the bed with Lu Xuechen.

“If people were to find out that I’m bullying a pregnant woman, how would I continue living in this world…” Lu Xuechen sat down on the sofa and took the pillow out of Lin Jiayu’s hands. “Even if someone is to sleep on the sofa, that person should be me. You should sleep on the bed.”

Lin Jiayu stood in place. Lu Xuechen was tall and strong, but the sofa was relatively short and narrow. If he slept on it, he would have to curl up his body.

“Let me sleep on the sofa.”
