Kanna was in a good mood as she swam through the icy lake.\n
She hasn’t played with fellow Yukinmusumes in a long time. \n
The idea of having more fun in the future made her happy.\n
But those three. . .Didn’t show up. She was still in the water alone. \n
“What’s taking so long. . .”\n
When Kanna came out of the water, she saw those three people heading towards the exit.\n
“Ah, hey hey hey! Where are you guys going?”\n
She shouted, but they were too far to hear her.\n
She rushed out of the lake to chase them\n

She hurriedly put on her kimono, but she didn’t have time to put on her obi, so she chased after them near naked.\n
After receiving the news from Natsumi-chan, my mother and I were about to head to the mountains to look for those three that disappeared.\n
The store phone rang. My father, who was closest, picked it up.\n
“Hello, this is Kitahara.\n
Just like when the college students disappeared, it was a call from a member of the Hyousei Village Chamber of Commerce.\n
Once again the village is in an uproar. An idol group has gone missing.\n
My father got ready to make preparations. Having another disaster like this could affect the reputation of the entire village.\n
“Hey Yukiya. Where did I place my gloves?”\n
“I think you left them on top of the shoe box at the entrance.”\n
As my father quickly got ready, my mother and I stopped and looked at each other.\n
According to my father, the snow had covered their footprints, so he had no idea where they had gone.\n
It was the same situation as the college students.\n
However this time it was confusing because they disappeared near the town.\n
After my father had finished his preparation. My mother and I gave each other a look.\n
We didn’t say it out loud, but she was telling me “Let your father do his thing, and we’ll go on our own.” I nodded.\n
“Yukiya, you’ve never been to that place before, so I’m going to go too. . .What you’re about to see is a little overwhelming.”\n
I showed my conviction, though she still seemed a little unsure.\n
My mother muttered as soon as we reached the mountain.\n
She seemed to have a pretty good idea where the three of them were. She knew much more about the mountain than I did.\n
From the few footprints and tracks that remained, we guessed that they had been taken to the place where Yukinmusume training happens.\n
I followed my mother as she pushed on with no hesitation.\n
The two of us were alone in this white quiet world, only accompanied by the sound of snow falling.\n
While walking, I asked her a question that has been on my mind for a while.\n
“Do you think we will melt away when summer begins?”\n
The long winter in Hyousei Village will end soon.\n
Since we aren’t at the north or south pole, things will get warmer and green as the hot summer comes closer.\n
Although the summers aren’t fiercely hot here because we are on a mountain, and we become a summer retreat, it still gets hot. . .\n
I used to always look forward to spring, but now. . .I’m getting this strange anxious feeling as if the end is coming.\n
There are quite a few stories about Yuki Onna who melt away and disappear when summer arrives.\n
“We aren’t going to disappear, but it’s certainly going to be difficult.”\n
“I see, so we’ll be okay. . .”\n
I was a little relieved.\n
“Don’t worry about it right now. I’ll teach you how to cope with it in the summer when the time comes.”\n
She did seem significantly vulnerable right now.\n

Long icicles hung on the ceiling, accompanied by icy decorations, along with icy flowers near the entrance.\n
And as we went deeper into the cave it got more amazing. This looks like it’d be a good tourist attraction, I’m surprised I’ve never seen it before.\n
“Don’t you feel it, Yukiya? This is the most sacred place on the mountain.”\n
“Now that you mention it. . .” \n
People are not allowed to find this place nor approach unless brought here.\n
The blizzard and cold combined make it a strong barrier.\n
“The three of them were brought here. . .”\n
There are faint footprints on the ice. There are signs so they are certainly further in.\n
If it’s an ordinary person, they might have run out of energy on the way to this place. So how did they end up here?\n
“We have to find them quickly.”\n
My mother went deeper in and I followed.\n
Inside this snowscape cavern, it was like a world of glass.\n
It’s closer to being crystal clear ice.\n
My mother said that this cave is closed shut by ice during the summer.\n
“Huh. . .With a place like this, it doesn’t need to be winter.”\n
It seems like a comfortable place to be sheltered from the heat all year round.\n
“I see. That’s a place you could stay year round.”\n
I also heard that there are many caves like this around the foot of the mountain. As the snow mainly remains at the summit.\n
To rest and get your strength. \n
It’s like the opposite timeframe for bears and snakes. \n
“Well, you don’t sleep the whole time. Sometimes you’d go outside, but you don’t have much power.”\n
My mother laughed at my fantasy.\n
So I won’t need to shut myself in ice.\n
However, my mother used to run around without doing that.\n
If I do it right, would I be able to get through summer?\n
“And normal people can’t enter the cave if there is proper warding.”\n
I noticed something. Something was floating within the ice.\n
That’s a real person. In the ice there is a person. There are a lot of people trapped in the ice.\n
I was overwhelmed by the number. It’s something I’d never expect. That bright hope I was feeling just a while ago vanished shattered after seeing this.\n
“I knew this day would come. Where I’d have to show you this. . .”\n
My mother’s face was unusually tight.\n
