*Cough Cough*

Tomonori still hasn’t recovered from his cold.

“Are you okay? Tomonori-san.”

Kouko walked over and sat beside him as he laid down.
What the heck. She didn’t even hesitate.

“A-ah. . .I’m fine. Thank you.”

Since she sat away from me, he had to turn over and only talk to her.

“Maybe you hurt your body during that time. . .”
“N-No, It had nothing to do with that. I was just here and stayed up way too late. So now I’m just tired. I don’t think it had anything to do with that time.”
“Really?”

She put her hand on her chest in relief.

“Ahh, Don’t worry about it, Kouko-chan.”

. . .Kouko-chan!?!?
They are already on a first name basis?

He has barely started doing that with me, and I’ve known him way longer.
She is definitely aiming for Tomonori. No doubt about it.

I don’t know what to do. . .His life is at risk.
Despite that, what is he doing?

I was fidgeting around, when Natsumi suddenly pulled the sleeve of my uniform.

“Endure it, Yukiya-chan.”

It’s different from that. I just care about Tomonori’s health.
Despite that risk, Tomonori is just talking to her like nothing is at risk.

“I’m already fine, Kouko-chan. I think I’ll surely be able to go to school tomorrow.”
“Good. . .I was really worried.”

After that, Kouko opened up her furoshiki.

“Tomonori, please have this. . .”

The knot unraveled over the beautifully designed furoshiki.

“Wow. You brought a gift.”

What was shown was a stainless steel pot, with a lid over it.

“Wow, what is it?”

Natsumi innocently asked.

“Ooh, amazing.”

Tomonori opened his eyes in surprise.

“I made some rice porridge for you. I heard this was the best way to help those who get sick.”

She opened the lid, and a white porridge with eggs and plums appeared.

“Did you make it, Kouko-chan?”
“Well, I got a little help.”

I think it was probably one of the cooks at the hotel that made it.
Also there were peeled apples on the side.

I can make that. I can make that way better. I’m a restaurant child.
I’m confident in my abilities, and would definitely win if it was a one on one competition. . .It’s a failure on my part to not have brought anything.

Thanks to her being the only one, she is the center of attention.

“Come on, ahh.”

She scooped up some in a spoon and brought it to Tomonori’s mouth.
If it was the normal Tomonori, he’d say he could eat himself, However because of that surprise attack and him suffering from a cold. . .
With an embarrassed face, he opened his mouth.
Isn’t that overkill? He can feed himself.

Natsumi-chan was also giving a bitter smile.
If it’s hot, and he spits it out, it will be funny.

“Cold. . .It’s cold.”

He grunted in disgust.
I think it was so sudden of a change he couldn’t even act as if it was delicious.

“Eh? But it’s just right. . .”

Kouko tilted her head in confusion.

“As I thought of a mountain born. You don’t know what tastes good.”

I snickered and said.

“Uuu. . .”

Pathetic.

“Kouko-chan, something this cold could upset the stomach. It’s like cold soup. . .”

Natsumi-chan then added after giving it a quick taste.

“I’m sorry. . .”

She apologized and took it away.

Chapter 61: After School Battle Part 4.

The Welcome gift plan was a failure for Kouko.

“I-It’s okay. L-Let’s move on. . .”

However Kouko had another bullet. She then took out another furoshiki.
It emitted white cold air. I’m guessing it’s the same stuff.

“Hikura Ice. . .”

Along with a wooden spoon and a smile.
Hikura Ice was manufactured in a nearby factory, and has recently begun selling locally. Although it was only recently shown.

Were the rumors true about her just eating ice true?

“It seems Kouko-san eats ice cream everyday.”

Again I sneered.

“Guu. . .”

Hmm. I just couldn’t help but think this was a match.

“Ice cream. . .Well, I do love that. So I’ll eat it later.”
“T-Thank you very much, by all means.”

Tomonori then received the bag.

“Natsumi, can you please put this in the freezer?”
“Yeah, Okay.”

Tomonori then handed over the bag to Natsumi-chan.

“Tsk”

Crap. An unexpected clean hit?
Eating ice cream even in the winter- – -. I guess it’s food that everyone likes.

“Both of you don’t fight. I’ll be right back.”

Natsumi-chan then left the room with the ice cream.
She also brought the rice porridge to reheat it.

“Please tell me if you need anything else.”
“Ahh, Thank you. I can’t stop once I eat some. My favorite is vanilla and chocolate flavor.”
“Aah, Me too. I can’t stop as well,Tomonori-san.”

The conversation then began to drift. Leaving me the third wheel.
I was just sitting in the corner of the room.

As I thought, none of her blunders mattered.

Action is important. I can’t protect Tomonori if I just sit here.

I need to show the difference between just meeting somebody, and the relationship fostered over many years.
I quickly approached the bedside.

“It’s about time to change that towel, it’s getting dry. Right?”

Tomonori’s towel on his head went dry, so I took it and put it into the water basin.
I squeezed it well, and then put it on his forehead.

“How is it?”
“Oh, that feels good.”

Tomonori looked relieved.

“What are you doing?”

I then had to give an explanation to the girl who probably doesn’t understand this at all.

“I’m cooling his head. When you have a fever, it feels comfortable to cool your head.”
“Oh, is that so?”

Kouko then put her hand on Tomonori’s head.
Hmm.
I have a bad feeling about that.

“Ah, W-Wait!”

The towel on Tomonori’s head instantly froze.
White mist as if it was dry ice was emitted from the towel.

“Uwaaa, it’s cold.”

Along with the scream, he shook it off his head onto the futon.

“What the heck, my head, pierces now. . .”

Writing on the bed.

“Tomonori!?”
“Tomonori-san!?”

Chapter 62

“Ugugu. . .”

Tomonori was still in agony, as it was pretty cold.

“What happened!? Are you okay!?”

I pushed away the stunned Kouko and rubbed Tomonori’s head.

“Y-Yeah, I’m okay. Yukiya-chan. But It’s just a bad headache. . .”

I forced a divide between Kouko and Tomonori.

“You were plotting this from the start. . .It’s why you came.”

It’s now my duty to fight. I never thought I’d fall to such a ruse.

“Don’t you have common sense?”

I attacked with.

“Ah, You were raised on the mountain, why would you know that?”

I added.

“H-How dare you say that.”

Cold air then blew from her body.
I then also went into Yuki Onna mode.
The room looked frozen, and the cold air collided. A whirl of cold air blew around us in the room for some reason.

“It’s the truth.”
“What did you say? You lying female ape.”

A giant sneeze then broke the confrontation.

“C-Cold, It’s freezing.”

That big sneeze from Tomonori snapped both of us out of it. His fever seemed to have gotten worse.

“A-Are you okay? Tomonori?”
“Tomonori-san.”

His body was rattling.

“It’s serious, He can’t rest. Because a certain someone.”

I then pushed further towards her.

“If a female monkey was making a ruckus in a room, of course there would be a negative effect. . .”

But.

“H-Hey. . .Listen up you two, how about you go home. It’s somewhat painful when you two are together.”

Tomonori then covered himself underneath the futon.

“Tomonori-san. . .I’ll be with you until you heal.”
“And leave you alone with her!?”

For the sake of Tomonori, I can’t just retreat. . .

“I’m back.”

The door then opened all the way, and Natsumi returned with a hot boiling pot.
She instantly noticed the tense atmosphere of the room.

“!?”

And then saw the exhausted Tomonori in bed.
She couldn’t have known what happened. But she judged that we had something to do with it.

“What did you two do?”

She put the pot down and roared.
Then grabbing Kouko and I by the collar.

“Let’s go. Bye Tomonori.”

Pulling us both out of the room.

“Ugugu. . Tomonori.”
“Tomonori-san. . .”

Eventually leading us both out of the room.

“H-Her you, go. Both of you.”

We were dragged down the stairs. Right to the entrance.

“O-Obaa-san, We’re sorry for this.”

Natsumi-chan then took out her shoes.
I reluctantly changed my shoes. And Kouko gave up and did as well.
Both of us were looking away from each other in guilt.

“Are you guys leaving already? Well you guys can visit anytime.”

Tomonori’s mother came out in a good mood and cheerfully waved to us. Completely oblivious to what happened upstairs.
I wanted to just show off the difference between a stranger and a childhood friend, but I messed up.
. . .That bitch.

She even visited his home. If this situation continues, Kouko will constantly be meddling. I need to be extra vigilant now. . .

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And that is it. I sort of felt bad for Kouko, but then she went full frozen in a sick boy’s room. But it’s obvious she is trying at least. I wonder how the dynamic will continue. And I wonder if Tomonori will figure out something is with Yukiya, or was it all a fever dream?
