After I finished my breakfast. I left the house after saying my good byes to my mom.
Ever since my mother came, I finally have somebody I can entrust with.
Just seeing her in the morning, and having her see me out is nice.
It’s a feeling of security.
Today was cold, but also fairly sunny. These days are rare.
This year was a mild winter in the country. That would mean that ski resorts would be rather worried about the lack of snow fall. However there is still a lot on Hyosei mountain. In fact, tourists and skiers are coming from all over the country thanks to the good snow quality.
On the way to school, I passed a number of ski groups.
Cars and tourist buses are passing by all the time.
The ski area is still full of customers on the weekend, even though the winter season has mostly passed.
The end of the season is fast approaching.
“What do Yuki Onnas do in the summer? They don’t melt, right. . ?”
Then would my mother even exist? I wonder if I can manage that?
There is snow all year around, so we should be fine, right?
“Oh, Good morning. Yukiya-chan.”
It was Natsumi-chan.
Today she was wearing her usual red muffler.
Her gloves were also red with white fluffy cotton applied at the wrists.
“Good morning, Natsumi-chan.”
Alright, today I’ll do my best.
However, I’m still not used to this skirt. . .
I feel like I’ll lose if I do get used to it.
I went to school as usual with Natsumi-chan.
“Have you gotten used to the school yet?”
“Yeah, I’m fine now. Everyone is wonderful.”
That’s a lie. The girls are actually really scary. They are always talking behind each other’s back. So two faced.
. . .But on average it isn’t that bad.
“By the way, where is Tomonori-kun.”
I asked Natsumi-chan about his absence.
Also, I prefer just to call him that instead of Saeki-san.
He was surprised at first, but I feel like it has been long enough.
It feels truly awkward to be calling him from his last name after I’ve known him since we were little.
“He said he had a cold.”
“Is that so. . .”
It’s been long enough that the title of transfer student has come off me.
I wonder if it will be easier now.
I brushed off the snow that was clinging to my muffler and bag.
Opened the shoe box to change my shoes.
The shoe box I have now is new, so I have to get used to the spot.
“Huh? What the. . .”
Looking closely inside, there was a white envelope.
“A, a letter!?”
Natsumi-chan caught sight of it from her shoe box.
It made her eyes glow.
I-I’m not stupid, I know this is a love letter.
“Eh? Ah? Really?”
A love letter?
This feels a bit old fashioned in the era of instant messenger and social media.
Well. More so, it’s to me. . .
“To Yukiya Kitahara”
Looking down at it, there is no doubt it was addressed to me.
And based on the strong handwriting, it’s probably from a boy.
Anyway, I owe it to him to at least look.
“It says “please come to the music room storehouse today at lunch.””
That’s rather simple.
From Tsuneo Nakajima(中島恒夫).
This doesn’t ring a bell. Hmm, I don’t know all the names of the school, but I sorted through all of them. . .Hmm, now that I think about it, there was a name from the seniors.
It’s the captain of the volleyball team?
“W-What should I do. . .”
“What should you do? Yukiya-chan will need to answer.”
“What do I say. . ?”
“You have to be honest with your feelings.”
Natsumi-chan immediately consulted me.
If it’s just her, I’m sure she won’t be spreading rumors. If the rumors spread there can be trouble. I can’t bring myself to hurt the man’s pride.
Because I know what it is like.
“Stay calm, and think.”
Of course I’m going to refuse- – –
Anyways I went to class while keeping the letter in my bag.
I wonder if anybody found out, but fortunately nobody else seems to have noticed.
I simply walked down the hallway with a casual face.
When I entered my classroom, there were some students already there.
Azusa Okamoto. Mai Fujisaki. The two of the good friends were sitting at a desk and talking about something.
They noticed us as we entered.
“Good morning! Kitahara-san!”
“Good morning, Yukiya-chan. The snow festival was so fun, let’s go out sometime again.”
They gave me a cheerful greeting.
“Y-Yeah, G-Good morning. . .”
I gave an innocent face. . .Pulled out my chair and sat down. Took out my textbook and notebook to put on the desk.
Now my homework print.
Okay, as usual.
“You are acting strange. What happened?”
Fujisaki-san then plunged into my safe place.
“Eh? N-No I’m fine.”
Ahaha, I said and diverted my glance.
“Ah, did you get a love letter?”
Okamoto then pointed at my pure white face- – –
“N-N-No, that’s not true.”
“It was a joke, you know?”
“It doesn’t mean we are making fun of you, okay?”
On the contrary, they apologized.
“N-No, I’m fine. But really, n-nothing happened.”
Confused and panicking, I waved my hands to dismiss it.
It was then I was pinched from behind.
“Yukiya-chan is too cute. . .”
Natsumi-chan gently whispered to me.
“But I feel like something happened.”
“E-Even so. . .”
To be honest, I’d never would have imagined I’d get a letter from a boy.
I wonder how Yukiya will respond. Hopefully the guy doesn’t come on too strong and become an ice sculpture, but I’m looking forward to how this goes down. And that will be.
*Edit. To avoid reader fatigue, I’d recommend skipping the long day arc, besides the 4-5th part.
