【Ceremony of Saint Summoning】
A ceremony that has been handed down in the Slantania (Surantania) kingdom from ancient times.
A long time ago, the kingdom was covered with miasma. When the demons ran rampant a maiden appeared out of nowhere.
Using that art, the demons were cleansed by the maiden, and peace was brought to the kingdom.
People called her a saint.
The miasma appeared to be something that divided and manifested near each other.\n
Although a detailed theory was not known, it seemed that when the miasma density reached a certain degree, it would become a demon. If the miasma was thick then the strength of the demon born from it was proportionate to it as well.
The miasma in the surrounding area became thinner when a demon was defeated. Miasma could be prevented from thickening more than necessary by continuously defeating demons.
But in every several generation, people said there were times when the speed of the miasma thickening exceeded the speed at which the demons were defeated.
At times like those, I heard that the maiden who became a saint in the ancient kingdom appeared.
The art which was used by the saint was considerably strong, and the demons seemed to be quickly annihilated.
Thanks to this method, it seemed that the speed the miasma thickened and the demons being defeated became balanced.
I heard there were also reports about the moments where, when there was a saint, the miasma in the surroundings did not thicken according to the theory.
However.
It was natural that saints had always appeared but, for once, there was a time when a saint did not appear no matter how dense the miasma was.
It was said that the sage of that time inspected all the methods and constructed this ceremony to summon the maiden from the other side, who would become the saint.
What a nuisance, to be summoned by such a ceremony.
This ceremony, was unfortunately a ceremony that had only been performed once from a long time ago. Could a saint really be called? It seemed that it was something that couldn’t be understood without trying it.
However they said the sage of that time was great, we were really summoned!
Even summoned two people.
But the saint only appeared as one person per era it seems.
Why were there two from the summoning this time?
Compared to the past, because the situation this time appeared to be considerably awful, maybe the number of people increased in proportion to this?
What a mystery.
Up until this point, it was a story about the 【Ceremony of Saint Summoning】 that I knew of during this one month.
And, currently, I live in the herbal research institute next to the herbal garden in the royal palace.
Eh, I don’t live in the palace.
I live in… the research institute.
After that ceremony, it seems the red head that went into the room is undeniably the first prince of this kingdom.
That first prince-sama didn’t even look at me, seeing nothing except the other girl, Misono Aira-chan, that he spoke with. And it was only Aira-chan that he left the room with.
Well.
I am in my twenties. Aira-chan on the other hand is only in her late teens.
When you ask who has a closer age to the prince-sama, of course it is Aira-chan.
Furthermore with fluffy light brown hair, translucent white skin and pink cheeks, and slightly droopy eyes that make others want to protect her, she is an adorable girl just like a lovely lily.
Since I was always busy, I never did observe too much of what others thought of me. So with my unkempt hair tied in a bundle, and unhealthy white skin, it is presumptuous to compare her with a glasses woman who has had dark circles hanging under her eyes for many years.
I couldn’t not understand why they only have eyes for Aira-chan.
However, you know, I thought he was bold to ignore the existence of the one he summoned without even asking.
The knights and the robe people in the surrounding were also pretty taken aback by the prince’s ability to ignore. I was pretty confused when I noticed that I had been left behind.
I didn’t know how to deal with it when I was being splendidly ignored, you know.
Because there was no help in being an idiot like that, I had grasped the neck of a robed person nearby, questioning things about the ceremony.
Following the story, it seemed I was somehow summoned to a different world, I understood that there wasn’t a method to return to the former world at the moment.
And I, after hearing the necessary information, of course I had gotten mad. I had decided that I would leave the country by foot.
I had thought, to begin with, let’s get out of this room first, get out of the royal palace where the room exists, get out of the capital where the royal palace exists, and finally try to go to the neighboring country.
Anyway, I absolutely did not want to be here.
I had separated my hand from the neck of the robe person after I finished hearing the necessary information. When I was outside of the room, a panicked knight had chased after my back.
The knight chasing after me had stopped me, and led me through the room somewhere into the royal palace. I was drinking the black tea that was served by the maid while waiting.
At last he finally came, the person who seemed to be this country’s high rank official, moreover to be well-informed about this country, I heard about something concerning the situation of me being left behind.
From what I had heard about the surrounding circumstances at the time, I was very grateful to the knight who had stopped me.
No matter how you look at it, the grassland is filled with demons swaggering around when you leave the capital. It takes one week to go to the neighbor country by carriage and thieves may appear along the way and so on. To be frank for me who doesn’t understand much about this world to reach the neighboring country is, clearly, an impossible game.
I think the me who had tried to challenge an obviously impossible game had a considerable amount of blood rushing to my head.
Afterwards, I, who had calmed down a little, was told,
「Please enjoy the palace for a while.」
Following the word of the official, I lived in the palace for a while.
Approximately two weeks later.
The first three days were, still good.
I was nervous at the thought that it was necessary to become accustomed to this world.
However, I gradually became unable to endure the spare time ne.
Certainly living necessities were guaranteed but, that left only playing no?
As expected I soon became unable to withstand the free time. At least how about strolling then? When I was wandering around the garden in the royal palace, what I had found was an herbal garden.
There are also herbs and aroma therapy used for relieving stress from work in Japan. The herbal garden was very interesting.
The planted medical herbs also have the same appearance as the ones planted in Japan. When I was wondering whether the vegetation was any different from Earth’s, a voice had called out to me.
When I turned around, with impressive pupils and hair the color of jade, there stood a friendly, good-looking young man.
The voice that had called out to me belonged to a researcher in the herbal research institute next to the herbal garden.
「Do you need something from the research institute?」
「No, I’m just passing by. I think it’s interesting, and only looked.」
Was he interested in me who said that the herbal garden was interesting? The researcher, just like that, explained the medical herb in the vicinity.
Lavender, Rosemary, Angelica and so on, the medical herbs with names that were no different from the ones in Japan, also had similar effects as well.
During the explanation,
「HP potions can be made with this medical herb,」
such a thing, is this a game, is the word I wanted to tsukkomi here and there.
And when I received explanations of the medical herbs, time passed by while I showed an amazed look. I had decided to return to the palace because evening was approaching.
「Please come again, yes?」 is how kind his gentle words were. I started to hang around every day. Finally I came to the point of living in the research institute… was not what happened.
Since it was troublesome to frequently travel to the herbal garden from the palace, I just asked to live in the research institute.
Because it is called the royal palace, the garden is endlessly large.
It takes 30 minutes from the palace to the herbal garden on foot.
Though I went to the herbal garden for 1 hour every day, the story I heard from the researcher in the research institute was very interesting. I had thought, for the sake of having one more hour to attend, then I would be able to hear more of the story.
To the maid in the room when I first come to this world 14 days before, I asked for the high rank official that received me who I had met at the beginning. When I consulted with him the purpose of me wanting to change the room, the story was accepted easily.
What I heard afterward, from the head of the research institute, it seemed that there had been some secret talk.
Thus I received a room in the research institute, and a job called medicinal plant researcher.
Those who don’t work don’t eat.
As a condition for receiving a room in the research institute, I was to work at the research institute.
Although I was a little hesitant to make a hobby a job, day after day, since I thought it was better than being absentminded in the palace, I decided to accept the condition.
「Still, how strangely effective.」
Muttering with the HP potion I made in one hand is Jude (ジュード juudo) the researcher that first called out to me in the herbal garden.
The HP potion that I made while learning from the colleague in the research institute seems to have a better performance than the potion that appears in the public market.\n
About 0.5 times more it seems.
「Though I only made it the way you taught me, no?」
I put the medicinal herb and pour water into the pot and by pouring magic power while boiling, the potion is made.
Although potions are divided in ranks: lower grade, intermediate grade, high grade and so on, this ranking is decided by the medical herb used.
However, just by putting in the chosen medical herb does not mean a high rank potion can be made.
Delicate magic manipulation is needed to make a high rank potion, the possible rank of production is decided by the production skill of the creator.
Although the medical herb materials are also costly things, the number of humans capable of making the potions are scarce too. High rank potions are sold at a price which can’t be used readily it seems.
Well, in the first place, high rank potions are something that no one other than a noble or royalty can buy.
「Color, too, is undeniably that of a lower grade HP Potion, I wonder why?」
「Who knows, maybe because my skills are good?」
「Nn, although I don’t think it matters much. Your pharmacy skill, how high is it now?」
「Wait a minute. 『Status』」
When 『Status』 is recited, a semi-transparent window which can only be seen by the user appears in front of me. My status is displayed there.
This is one of the life magic that has been taught to me by the colleague on the day I began to work as a researcher.
Following the potion, magic is somehow, although I think it’s more and more like a game, unmistakably a reality.
Magic is usable and it can be understood that since magic is necessary in the creation of potions that even I have magic.
Along with the summoning, my body seems to have stopped being that of an earthling.
Because the magic power that I was unable to feel while on earth can now be felt inside my body.

「Currently, it is level 8.」
After confirming the status, when I report the level of my pharmacy skill, Jude inclines his head while groaning, 「Uun」.
「8, you say… You can’t create intermediate grade yet, right?」
「Well, isn’t it good whatever it is? It not like the effectiveness becomes weaker.」
「No, no, no, because it’s not at a marginal level where we can let this slide! To clarify such a thing is our job too don’t you think?」
I thought that it is good as long as the effectiveness is good but, because Jude said, to research such a mysterious phenomenon, to investigate the cause, is the work of researchers too, he scolded.
It can’t be helped, I continue to go along with Jude’s investigation.
Changing the quantity of the materials, and altering the amount of poured magic power, many potions are made for experimental purposes.
Thus my days pass by, continuously making potions.
