In between I chopped firewood, worked in the fields, and helped in the housework, I trained myself in the dojo in my previous life and occasionally snuck into my father’s room to read up on magic books.
I’ve mastered the beginner’s magic since then, and I’m currently reading into intermediate magic books.
Since there are no instructional manuals for intermediate level magic, I’ve been reading and analyzing magic textbooks and formulas through trial and error, so I haven’t been able to make much progress.
If I could get my dad to teach me, I would be able to learn it faster, but…
I’ve asked my dad and mom to teach me swords and sorcery so I can help them hunt, but they say it’s too early and dangerous.
I’m gaining experience by secretly hunting weak demons in the forest, but…. that’s secret.

One night, my dad called me into the living room.
No way … did he find out….
「Sirius, you’re almost six, I know it’s still early for you… you know, there’s a church in this village, all the kids in the village go to learn a lot of stuff. I’ve read a lot of books, and I’m sure Sirius already knows a lot of things about it, but I think it’s fun to make friends of the same age. How about it, do you want to go?」
「Our neighbor Lara is the same age as you, so we’ll be going together. Do you remember…?
The neighbors say they’d be safe if Sirius is coming too~」
So it’s like an elementary school.
There’s no better way to learn about this world, and it sounds like fun.
「Yeah, I’d love to go! When is it?」
「Oh, yeah I’ll tell the priest tomorrow, so we can start going through next week, and tomorrow we’ll say hello to the priest and go buy the things we need.」
「Yes!」

The next morning, after breakfast, I left the house with my dad.
In front of the house stood a girl with lightly wavy milk-tea colored hair and a slight impression of softness. That’s our neighbor Lara.
My dad’s coming to greet them with me today.
I’ve only seen Lara a few times with her parents, but I’ve never had a decent conversation with her. I wonder what she’s like.
「He, hello! Regulus-san, Sirius-kun, it’s nice to see you today!」
…she stuttered
Lara looked embarrassed.
「Hi there. Nice to meet you. I hope you get along with Sirius in the future.
Lara, it’s nice to meet you too.
Lara nodded her head.
I spoke to Lara on the way.
「Si, Sirius-Kun what do you always do at home?」
「Well, I read books and help with household work I guess…. So What do you do, Lara?」
I can’t say it’s a training, exercise, or anything like that, so I’ll just say it back without hesitation.
「Huh … I like picture books too! I love “Nekoko’s House” the best! Have you ever read Sirius-Kun?」
「Wow, I’ve never heard of that book. I’ll have to read it next time!」
「Umm! You can borrow it when I get home today! Ehehe.」
「Thank you. I’m looking forward to it.」
We soon arrived at the church as we were chatting about these uncomplicated topics.
A gentle-looking blond man in his early thirties or so greeted me.
「Hello, Priest-Sama. We spoke the other day. This is my son and Roger’s daughter. I hope you can teach both of them about lots of things in the church.」
「I’m Sirius, son of Regulus. It’s a pleasure to meet you.」
「Ha, nice to meet you! It’s Lara! I look forward to working with you!」
「Nice to meet you, my name is Fred, Thank you for your cooperation.」
「「Thank you」」
「Hmm … Sirius-Kun and Lara-chan are both polite and good children, aren’t they? Regulus-san, is it okay to take care of you two from next week?」
「Yes, we’ll see you next week.」
So we bought a blackboard and some chalk to take to church and went home.
When we got home, Lara showed me her “Nekoko’s House”. There’s a cute black cat-like monster picture on the book cover.
