The Goddess of Absurdity reincarnated into a demon. Gods could only reincarnate as gods, so it wouldnât be strange if the loss of their memories was the price to pay for defying their order.
However, I couldnât understand why I had no memory.
In that case, was everything related to Arcana and Aisha nothing more than mere coincidences?
âI donât think so. Someone might have taken our memories.â (Anos)
âSomeone like whoâŚ?â (Sasha)
âThe gods?â (Misha)
âThe gods are at the top of the list of those who have it out for me. But I canât be certain of that yet. If someone working against me could steal my memory, then they would erase all memories related to themself.â (Anos)
In other words, I wouldnât remember who the enemy was.
âAn enemy who can erase Anosâs memoryâŚ?â (Misha)
âBut isnât it pretty bad that you canât remember them?â (Sasha)
Misha and Sasha spoke, worried.
âDonât worry, itâs not a problem. If all they erased were the memories inconvenient to themself, then tracing those lost memories will lead me to the culprit in due time.â (Anos)
The blanks in my memory were my best clues.
âWe can look into it while undergoing the Selection Trial. Something might turn up by exploring the Underground World.â (Anos)
âBy the way, you mentioned dealing with the Selection Trial. How are you going to do that?â Sasha asked.
âThe Selection Trial is said to be formed by the Order of Trial,â Arcana answered.
âThen, does that mean we have to defeat the God of Trial?â (Sasha)
âYes. However, the god possessing the order of the Selection Trial has never shown themself, not even before other gods. Itâs a deity no one has ever seen.â (Arcana)
Aisha tilted her head.
âHow will we find them?â (Misha)
âI donât know. Even without gods, the order of the Selection Trial exists. This led some of the underground people and certain gods to think up the existence of the Almighty Radiance Equis. That is, all gods are the hands of Equis. The Selection Trial is an order brought about by Equis himself, and therefore, no one can see it.â (Arcana)
ââŚUhh, so basically, the Almighty Radiance Equis isnât an actual god but a concept thought up by the draconids?â (Sasha))
Arcana nodded at Sashaâs words.
âThatâs partially correct. The Almighty Radiance might exist or might not. Belief depends on each individual.â (Arcana)
âHmm. If the Almighty Radiance erased my memory, that would make it easy for us. âI could settle everything at once.â (Anos)
Aisha looked at me in astonishment.
âSettle everything? But if Eques exists, wouldnât he wield the power of all gods? What would you do? It would be like fighting the world itself.â
âYouâre right.â I said with a grin,
âThen I guess Iâll destroy the world.â (Anos)
Aisha recoiled in horror.
Hmm, perhaps I had a bit of a sadistic look without realizing it.
âThat was just a joke. Even I wouldnât do something like that. Weâll just have to come up with a good plan.â (Anos)
âIt didnât sound like a joke at allâŚâ (Sasha)
âSadistâŚâ (Misha)
I turned my gaze to Arcana.
âYou mentioned earlier that thereâs a god who governs memory on a larger scale than the Keeper of Dreams. Using that godâs power, we should be able to restore not just my memory, but also yours and Aishaâs.â (Anos)
At this point, this was all just speculation.
If our memories returned, the truth would become crystal clear.
âThe god in question is the one who governs the order that records the footsteps of the world, the God of Traces Revalschned. Itâs said that he lays dormant in the Kingdom of the Divine Dragon Jiordal.â (Arcana)
The Kingdom of the Divine Dragon Jiordal. That was Ahidâs country.
âThen thatâs where weâre going.â (Anos)
âWell, in that case, it looks like we wonât be attending classes for a while.â (Sasha)
âAre we taking a break?â (Misha)
Sasha and Misha spoke in unison.
âNot necessarily. With the existence of the Underground World now revealed, it wouldnât do for the future Demon Lords of Dilhade not to experience it firsthand.â (Anos)
ââŚI have a bad feeling about this.â (Sasha)
ââŚSame hereâŚâ (Misha)
âYou two go on to the academy ahead of us. Iâll inform Eldmed and Shin and then join you.â
Aisha nodded and drew a magic circle for herself.
With a flash of light, the <Separation and Fusion Reincarnation Dino Jixes> spell was undone, and Aishaâs body split back into Misha and Sasha.
âSee you later.â (Sasha)
Misha waved her hand slightly.
The two of them left my room.
Several minutes laterâ
Moving on to the second lecture hall of the Demon King Academy of Delsgade.
The bell signaling the start of class chimed.
The doors opened, and with a lively step, bursting with joy, came the Conflagration King Eldmed.
Shin, the right-hand man of the Demon King, quietly closed the door and stood beside Eldmed.
âKhahaha! Good news, good news, Iâve got good news for you all!â (Eldmed)
Raising both hands and clenching his fists, Eldmed spoke with high spirits.
âToday, we can finally hold the special class weâve been planning!â (Eldmed)
He leapt into the air, stomped his foot, spun his cane around, tapped it on the blackboard, and drew a magic circle.
The circle glowed, and a dozen doves flew out of it, scattering ribbons and confetti into the air.
âTodayâs class is calledâŚ!â (Eldmed)
After spinning around dramatically, Eldmed pointed his cane at the students.
âThe Greater Demon King Training!!!â (Eldmed)
A <Transition Gatom> magic circle appeared on the podium.
Dressed in the garb of the Demon King, I, Anos Voldigoad, appeared.
Shin knelt down immediately, followed by Eldmed.
With a thunderous noise, the students pushed their chairs back and fell to the floor, scrambling to bow their heads.
Standing on the podium, I spoke calmly.
âI am the temporary instructor for this special class starting today, the Demon King of Tyranny, Anos Voldigoad. Letâs skip the formalities.â (Anos)
I smiled warmly, like greeting old friends.
âItâs been a while, everyone.â (Anos)
Half of the students had a look of sheer despair on their faces.
